on 12/30/15They will ROB you!
There is no phone number to call and if there is a problem you will have to hunt them down on all social media sites to maybe get a respond that will make you even more mad
They are requiring that you will send them a copy of your ID
With all the hacks online there is no way people will agree to these terms
I payed with PayPal and dispute all the transactions
It was the only way to get my money back
Its a real website, however crumby! - However, The workers or freelancers there are... - A Breeding ground frenzy of scammers! Almost set up to facilitate them or make it super easy to get scammed and ripped off and no way to get money back - resolution department - You would rather just let the money go, because you won't get it back anyway - just more trouble trying to! STAY AWAY FROM FREELANCER.COM I lost $1500 and was able to get back all but $500 but cost me $5000 in time and trouble! Just go to UPwork.com. Much better, logs, timesheet, screenshots of work AND i'm making progress leaps and bounds over Freelancer.com.
It is a scam to steal your money. They will allow you to deposit funds which are supposed to be to pay freelancers, but instead they will reverse your account into a negative balance and steal your money. You don't see anything for the money. You can report them as fraudulent here: https://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx
Its a devious site and a place where financial exploitation is waiting to happen on your back. Stay OUT of there. You may need a freelancing model and you can go to Upwork or Guru but what you do not need is freelancer.com. I am suing them later in 2016 as I have suffered financially and i am done with their deliberate financial exploitation,
You can't say its fake but at the same time you can't just trust it fully.
My point here is: people do get things done for the price but when it comes to money/payment, you can not trust freelancer. Sometimes it gets reversed from your account and you won't even get a satisfactory reason for it.
I suffered a loss of 900 USD. All I get to hear that employer had some account issues and we can not disclose this any further.
If you looking to work as a freelancer, go odesk or upwork and any other site first and then freelancer.com.
Small incident: I worked for a client, designed the logo got the parent for it. Next day when looged in, my account showed negative balance ( payment reversed).
Support: employer have acc. Issues
Client: never came back or responded to any mails.
Result: I worked and still in debt.
It looks like your question has already been extensively answered, Ahsan - but just like everyone else said: the site is real (i. E. freelancer.com is a real website, not a "container" or whatever). However, their business practices are incredibly bad. I'm sorry for everyone elses' financial losses on this platform. In my case, I didn't even get to that stage - I noticed something was amiss when they claimed they couldn't verify my identity, and then you have to pay for tests to prove your capabilities.
Just go to Upwork, Guru, or even the old trusty Monster.com, Craig's List, and whatever. Be sure to have a good-looking portfolio site up first, though!:-)
Thanks for your question Ahsan - My experience based on a single project we advertised on the site is that they are not trustworthy - they are not worthy of your trust. They have applied a membership fee on us after a short free time, and I can't see this detailed anywhere in their schedule of fees. In the terms and conditions they say they will advise us and get our consent to any fees etc, but they did not do this. I am sure that the membership fee is detailed somewhere in their schedule but I'm damned if I can find it. It seems that some people are happy with the site, but the great majority of reviews are 1 star putdowns. Like the old saying says Caveat emptor - buyer beware!
They are a scam company which is actually based in the Philippines. They steal as much money as they can, hiding behind bull$#*! terms which they make up as they go. The Philippines is scam central, almost as bad as Nigeria. Avoid these people like the plague. They steal from clients and providers. It doesn't matter which you are. You are paying for the owner of the site's Ferrari if you deposit money with them.
I had a terrible experience with freelancer.com on credit card:
1. I filled credit card information when I first registered. The website ddn't notice me it will charge any member fee since from my understanding if you will charge you would let me know
2. But after almost 1 year I found out that my credit card has been charged member fee from freelancer every month without any notifications including the website and emails
3. When I find out the unpermitted charging, I tried to canceled the membership auto- charging, but there is no entrance you can cancel the auto-charging.
4. I have to ask bank for a new credit card for protection.
Be careful guys. Protect yourself.
The site is real but full of fake jobs and scammers. If you get ripped off, don't expect any support from them. And just for the record, I read the terms and conditions and followed the guidelines to the letter and used their so-called "secure tracking app". The employer either disappeared or freelancer deactivated his account without bothering to ensure I was paid for my work. If you've ever heard the term "the fish rots from the head". This is freelancer. The rotting starts with admin and goes all the way down to the tail end of their community of scammers.
Real site but they are also fake employeer. I want to quit freelancer site as a graphics designer cause i noticed now that most of the contest was guaranteed but 100% not guranteed since When the employeer get what they want they delete the project because they also abusing the site. Poor freelancer like me gaining nothing... As other said they only care the commission!
This website is a total fraud and should be brought into investigation.
https://howtofreelance.in/freelancer-com-scam/There are thousands of successful freelancers like me that thrive on finding new leads, clients, connections and what not on freelancer.com and if you ask any of them Is Freelancer.com a scam? They will say No because had that been the case, we wouldnt have been with the website for so long.
If you are a new freelancer or a client looking to use their services, I would sincerely recommend you to read their terms and conditions, guidelines, blog and community articles to do the right things. We often blame others for our own mistakes and this is something you need to do away with
