Yes! They will charge you way more in "taxes and fees"

I am pretty tech savvy and I thought I was on the hotel website reserving two rooms for one night at the lowest advertised price. Turns out that I was booked through CCI (aka Getaroom.com) They don't tell you that you pay "fees" that in my case equaled 50 of the the room rate. I forwarded the reservation confirmation to my friend who arrived at the hotel several hours be me. When she arrived, she was told that the confirmation number did not exist and that she had no reservation. Fortunately there were rooms available, so she purchased her own room on her credit card. My room was available. The next morning when she told me that she paid for her room, I immediately contacted Getaroom. They opened an inquiry on why I was double billed. That was on 22 Nov 19. The matter is still not resolved. Today I received a cryptic email message- "The hotel issued a refund." But they did not tell me to whom and for how much. The fight continues... If you see CCI or Getaroom.com on your computer, RUN! Its a scam. First they hijack you, they they jack up the price, then there is no remedy. Their "customer care" also appears to be outsourced to a foreign country.

They don't guarantee the room. You might get there and have to pay extra for the room you expected to get.

Getaroom.com is thru Expedia... do NOT book thru them... they jack their prices up so high... If I went thru the Hotel itself or BookingBuddy.com or Hotwire... the room would of been $91.00 a nite, instead. We booked thru getaroom.com and the room was $140.00 a nite!

I cant be sure what the answer is to your question. I have heard them talk about buying up large blocks of rooms and then offer them at discounted prices. I am a very faithful listener to the GetARoom travel show, but after reading the many negative postings about them, I won't use them. I expected more from them since they broadcast to thousands of people on their Sunday Travel Show on KGO Radio.

There is no guaruntee of the kind of room you will get so the hotel can give you whatever they want

I am told they buy up blocks of rooms and resell them for cheap. Problem is,
You will often pay the hotel, and see a second charge on you CC from GetaRoom, effectively paying for the room twice. Takes about three weeks to undo this. Wouldn't use them again. Also, found a rather large service charge associated with this service. Avoid.
