Logmein.com is a very reputable company and i myself use that software all of the time. it appears the people running this scam may only be using their program to scam people. that may be why it is undetected by all of the various programs. this program allows them to remotely control your computer and then they can log in at will and take control of your pc without you even knowing it. if you have installed logmein and followed their instructions i would urge you to uninstall that program asap or even contact logmein support for help in removing that program from your computer. i'm sure the people at logmein.com would like to know of people using their program to scam others. www.logmein.com and contact their customer support. Got a unsolicited phone call from someone claiming to be microsoft tech support, with a very thick Indian accent, claiming that their error reporting service had shown I had problems with my PC. Note he knew my name and that I had windows installed (my house phone is under another family members name). After getting me to run event log to see errors he then passed me on to a female tech support "specialist" who wanted me to run www.logmein123.com in the run menu, at wich point I claimed I had to go somewhere and could they call me back. Checked with Microsoft Australia (cause that's where I live) and they told me that last week they had recieved a lot of reports about this and were investigating, and yep it was a scam. Whenever I tried to question the caller's about technical details their accents got worst and after I hung up I got calls for about ten minutes with no response when I picked up, till I got the first (male) individual, saying that he noticed our call had been disconnected so I told him I had arranged for a call back with the woman he had transferred me to. NOTE, since they ask you to log in straight from windows via your run menu (a friend of mine in a banks tech support dept didn't know that one!) there is a good chance it would bypass all your browsers bad site warnings ( I use you guys, switched to firefox to do so, awww... Web Of Trust, and my Trend Micro's bad domain list) So the con artist are now trying to work around all the bad site blacklist. Evolution/ arms race at work. Something to ponder...
