on 12/27/15Be careful on posh because they do not have your back. There is a lot of scandalous people on posh. Be careful on ebay as well. I bought a Michael Kors set on ebay that was listed as excellent condition but it was stained and reeked of cigarette smoke. Ebay did not refund my money. They said since it wasn't listed as brand new with tags I was screwed. I was out $315. Who wants a handbag and wallet that smells like $#*!? I think twice before buying on Ebay since that experience. Shame on the dishonest seller and Ebay for allowing that behavior. Good Luck!
I always look at the seller's reviews. But keep in mind that not everyone leaves a review, and, often times, only the good reviews show up. And also a lot of people will give low star reviews but don't provide an explanation. I e had someone give a low star review because the item she bought didn't fit her Even though the item as properly listed. Bottom line: you take s risk with every transaction.
There are definitely quality control issues with sellers. Sometimes scammers have great feedback, or are even "suggested users" -- maybe they racked up great feedback selling less expensive or non-high end items, but then try to pass off fakes as authentic once they have that feedback base. Or, on the other hand, they post a few good transactions so they have a good feedback record before selling fakes. Hard to tell. I've found that there are VERY few reliable sellers...
Even the ones not selling fakes seem to have no problem selling things much dirtier, more damaged, etc. than pictured (and definitely ask for CLOSE-UP pictures!) Buyer beware: I received a moth hole-ridden coat with filthy tissues in the pocket and torn lining everywhere, but because pictures were taken from a distance and possibly intentionally blurred I got stuck b/c this damage wasn't evident. And the seller had NO problems not mentioning a single flaw -- or the dirty tissues?!?! Poshmark customer service still didn't take my side after I sent pictures.
Which leads me to... the BIGGEST Poshmark problem is the utter lack of customer service responsiveness. You won't get the buyer protection they claim. You may email them ASAP and send pictures of a damaged or fake item, and if they don't get back to you within 3 days (which happens all the time) they'll automatically release the funds to the seller. Then, if you finally get a response, they'll say that they can't reverse the decision because you "accepted" the item and the funds were released. Yet again, I've had firsthand experience with this. I've been waiting for over a month on a similar situation.
I'd hate to see you get stuck in the same way. It's just not worth the risk. And honestly, so many prices are higher on Poshmark... crazy! I've done MUCH better on both price and customer service protection on sites like Tradesy and even eBay!
If you dont like the uggs you can open a case on the item by selecting item not as described button. Then they will email you a return label. So you won't lose your money. Get familiar with the site so you know exactly what to do if a problem arises. They screwed me over one time. Although I have bought about a hundred items.
Looks like they sold but i checked them out and they look like legitimate uggs. The problem I've found with posh is for sellers. Buyers can return the item if there's an issue such as fake or huge stains not mentioned etc. EBay though has a horrible reputation for selling fake items. I like the fact that posh holds sellers funds for 3 days until the buyer looks over and accepts. You can also read previous buyer remarks by clicking on the sellers pic on posh. Hope that helps. Again I have only had issues with selling on posh never buying. Thx
Poshmark does a great job at dealing with these issues, just don't wait too long or it will probably take longer. I know a lot of people on poshmark who are true sellers and are honest. If you have the app you are able to view others feedback from past buyers as well as see the overall rating that seller has. Be sure to look at all the pictures and read the full discription. If you receive a pair that have a stain and you fight it, if they had the stain listed in a picture or description then you will likely not be reimbursed. If the same situation occurs and they had not stated the issue via pic or in description then poshmark should take care of it no problem. If you are really worried screen shot the sales pictures and description to save for later (but that is going above and beyond better safe than sorry). Lastly, on the app (not sure about the website) there are suggested users that have to have accomplished a certain amount of positive feedback, sales, reputation etc. I would say that is your safest bet if you are really worried, but like I said, plenty of people are not suggested users but are not trying to scam you. My poshmark name is@mariellelauren feel free to find me and if you dont yet have the app use my code for a free $5 credit, its PZTND
