Absolutely. I was diagnosed with severe ulcerative colitis in 1993. It was so bad that even minor sips of water had me in the bathroom, with bloody results in the toilet bowl. Doctors prescribed prednisone, which I took for years. Still, I did not want to take prescription drugs forever, given their nasty side effects.
