I've been receiving emails soliciting resume rewrite. I want to make sure I do not waste my money and it's not generic. Is there an interview with the writer?

Hi Carolyn, Thanks for asking! The process will begin with a questionnaire. If after you submit the questionnaire, the writer has follow-up questions, the writer will reach out.

No. You get to answer some questions in a form. Then a few days later you get a draft resume to review and you go "what is this?!" Then you are expected to correct the spelling mistakes, their being off context, their wording that means little and provide feedback on the format. On and on you go with them. Then you realize that you'd be better off doing it yourself and all their "recommendations" aren't being addressed or followed. Need a resume help... go local to someone that you can talk to and who lives in the US and truly understands the langauge and the job search culture. Good luck, but please don't waste your time, money, and patience on this service.

Don't do it! Really it's a scam. They took my own resume & just re-formatted it. They didn't even change the wording! The formatting was all messed up too. When the re-did the formatting, it was better than the first, but still pretty awful. They never did change the wording. Go to Angie's List & find a resume place thru that website. I beg you don't waste your $$$ with this one. I can show you my results of this place if you send me your email.

After more than 20 years in the same job, I found myself looking for a new position. I had my resume circulating for more than two months with little interest. I hired them and had 10 responses in the first week I started circulating the new one with the cover letter I also had them do. Sure, I could have reformatted and done some of the things they did for me, but I would have had to do a ton of research in what works and then had to hope it was the right thing for my industry.
Hiring them saved me all that, and I paid someone who knows what works to update my resume.
Less than 1 month after using the new resume, I had 5 interviews and 3 job offers. I am now in a new position and while my skills and experience got me the job, the resume rewrite got me noticed. It IS worth it!

It is laughably generic. They make it appear that the writer will be tailored to you but in fact the writer I had clearly did not have a strong grasp of the English language. Don't waste your money here. Google best resume writing services.

I would be careful before uysing this service. I was very disappointed in the quality of product. The review of your current resume is a scam - completely - and they are very defensive when you ask questions about their service (red flags). I spoke with another person who had just purchased their services and he was livid. The resume they sent him was a template they had not even bothered to delete the previous person's name from. The three samples they sent him were free to download online. I chose not to use them. I used the LDS employment services and was very pleased with how helpful they were.

Not really. There's some kind of form that goes to the writer. It's a total scam waste of money. You're better off spending a little time finding a real write in your area that can help you out. This company just cranks them out from templates. For that money you can get s real writer for more time than you'll need. Hope this helps

There's is no interview with the writer; you do however get to answer a few questions that are aimed at understanding the type of job you want, what you think needs to be changed in your resume and personal qualities you think should be emphasized. I feel that this step is probably the most helpful because it gives your writer a better shot at actually providing you with a better revision. Of course the more In depth and focused your answers are it can better aid the writer.

I asked if I could talk to my writer in person due to the number of errors I saw in my first draft, and they told me absolutely not, it had to be through email only.

I researched a number of different resume writers and services prior to deciding to go with TopResume. They were winners in the pricing category, for sure (there were others who wanted to charge me upwards of $700 for this), and while I was initially skeptical, those concerns quickly dissipated once I got rolling. The free resume critique was a good start and really insightful. The process itself was flawless and they delivered an excellent product on time. If you have the notion that one of their writers is simply going to create a magical marketing tool out of thin air, think again. You get out of it what you put in to it because no one knows YOU. Like, well... YOU.

My interactions with my writer Greg were all via email. There was no phone interview, etc, but what he gave me to work on ended with a superior product. My resume is now relevant, and the results are starting to show based on some of the interest and interviews I'm now getting.

This is NOT a waste of money, but be prepared to dig deep and do some work yourself to get the document where you want it to be.

7TH GRADERS ARE THE ONES PREPARING YOU RESUME. NO! NO! I received the resume, It was full of flamboyant words. The only part that made any since was what they copied from my current resume. I let other people in my field look at my resume and the one topresume prepared, they all agreed that the resume topresume prepared looked fake, lies. I am a blue collar worker. My opinion how can some one that does not know the trade that you work in write a resume. I asked for a full refund they said no. The only company I have ever done business with that will not give you a refund is your not happy with there work. Stay away from these people

Hello I did this on an impulse and I was very pleased that I did. My old resume was portraying me as a network engineer and that's not what I would like to be portrayed as. After giving some details and information to the team as to what I want and what to stand out as and highlight which skill sets, they were able to accomplish what I wanted to have. It matters what information you give to them to build upon your resume then they can target that according to your request. I am very pleased and recommend it.

I think you have to decide for yourself, I mean it's your money that you are spending. I absolutely felt that it was worth everything that I put into it and it has helped garner me several interviews that I was not getting before. Yes, it is a questionnaire, emails back and forth and no real contact (although that is possible if needed) HOWEVER, there was a reason that I was not getting interviews and call-backs with the resume I was sending out. I got what I paid for, what I needed and I think it has really refreshed my "perfect job" search. I wish you the best of luck with YOUR choice and your future. I can say that if I could change having used TopResume, I wouldn't. Hope this helps. P.S. I have not received any more spam mail or whatever since using the service.

I had a great experience. Yes they ask a series of questions to get to know you and better understand what direction you want your resume to go.

They send you a list of questions to complete and you submit your resume. Once completed, they return to you and you can let them know any items that need to be corrected.

I was able to speak with the writer for my resume personally. I see reviews both good and bad. My experience wasn't a bad one as I received lot of calls stating my resume stood out.

I was pleased. Got a job a few months after. There were typos but overall it was worth it.

You answer a few questions about what positions you're gearing the resume towards and few other details. The writer will "re-write" to a very generic resume (and cover letter, if you ordered that). When they say they'll continue to work with you until you're satisfy with the final version, that is not true. The package deal that I order only allowed 2 re-writes, and he didn't change much between the first and second re-write. I really recommend you looking up job postings online and pull out similar keywords from several postings and put them into your resume. That's what I ended up doing, and got several interviews that way.

Don't waste your money. I gave them 170 dollars and got two drafts both had misspellings. I complained and they stopped working on my resume. They even told me to rewrite it myself. I have yet to receive my final copy. I filled a complaint to the BBB. No phone conversations.

I agree with all the generic responses. I sent them my job description and explained what type of positions I was looking for. They basically reformatted my original resume and added ever cliché imaginable. They don't listen to what you want. They don't rewrite your resume as the guarantee states. You get one email correspondence with the writer and that's it. Save your money. I learned the hard way.

There is no interview, but they will work with you till the resume is the way you want it. I got more responses from the resume they wrote for me, that I would always come to them if need be. They are worth the money and time and effort, your job search will go much faster and you will land the job you want.

They will write you a very professional resume, then you have the opportunity to critique it and tell them what you would like to change. Everything is via email, but they are very prompt.
I wasn't getting any responses from my old resume. Now, I have people emailing me that I didn't contact. I recommend it. You won't be disappointed.

Sincerely,

Mike

No, You can't speak to them it only via emails and they never listen to you. All they doing is copy and paste your resume (the one you will send them) it full with mistakes and if you'll ask your money back, you have no chance to get it back because the know the system way too well. Don't spend 1 penny on them

There is not an interview but there is an in depth questionnaire. They also will keep rewriting until you are satisfied. I can also tell you that since I had them rewrite for me, I have gotten more interest and even landed a great job on my field. I think it was well worth the money.
