This is the worst busness I've ever dealt with. If you can even get them on the phone. I waited over 2 hours the other day on hold just to be dropped when they tried to transfer me.Since starting SS disability I received 2 payments on 2 different cards. So instead of putting it all on one card they gave me 2 which just confused everything. For over 2 years I asked them to put all my miney on just 1 card. They agreed and said that it was not right having 2 cards,said they'd change it. 2 years later they changed only because I was receiving only 1 check as of recent. So many fraudulent charges every month and trying to get refunded is just a joke. I loose so much money every month because of this. I truly don't know how there still in business.,PS,they also have no problem lieing and have to me many times.

I am disabled and live on my social security.I deposited my check and within 5 days was hacked for over 750$.Have contacted bank numerous times to explain that I am in a wheelchair and on8ltrs 0/2 could not have been in these restaurants if I wanted too.to be continued.bottom line.useless,no customer service,unprofessional.RUN!

Customer service is the ABSOLUTE WORST they ask for ID & birth certificate we sent that and they still had a problem on their end with the last four digits which I resent their CSR are very impatient they don't explain the necessities my father is a 76 year old vision impaired senior how do they expect him to know how to navigate though a computer to send emails and answers questions is unbeknownst to me as soon as his card is unlocked we will not ever use their service or recommend it to anyone THIS COMPANY IS PURE GARBAGE 👎🏽 also they don't deserve not one star

DE (Direct Express) caused me to be homeless. They destroyed my life. They steal and lie and they're very unhelpful. They blocked my funds and refused to send me a card or unblock them. They're hard to get a hold of and IF by chance they are available, they're hateful and mean. They don't know wtf they're doing. They rudely told me to send by email all this ID crap which I did...SIX TIMES! Still it wasn't enough. I think they're doing this on purpose just so they can steal people's identities. Everyone who has complained about DE said they never accept the IDs. Anyway, I'm sleeping under a bridge every night because of them. Sometimes I sleep in the woods. Last night I had to sleep at the park because someone got arrested under the bridge. DE will ruin lives. They're lazy greedy scum bags who treat people like trash. All they care about is hurrying up and getting off the phone. But now here I am. Sitting at the park at 10:00pm. They're gonna close and I gotta go back to the bridge before I get arrested I hope DE gets shut down forever.
I've had this payee account for over 8 years and I've never had issues up until August 1st 2024. I recieved a text message stating that I had changed my pin. I called the number on back if the card to fix this issue, I did not change my pin. Representative helped me through the process only to ask how much I recieve. I thought that was suspicious and hung up. When I called back I spoke to another rep and they reset my app account after telling them my situation. Everything went fine until my money was deposited. I called to make sure it was there only to an automated response saying I needed to activate my card and would be put on hold. I was on hold for 40 min to an hour each time I called. On 8/1/2024 I started trying around 7am. I called throughout the day and intothe second of August. Still have not spoke to anybody and still have not accessed my account. Each time I'm on hold it goes over an hour waiting for somebody. Only number I have is back of card. All other numbers get directed to that 1115 number. I've called the bank that provides the cards with no luck, all they do is say I have to call direct express. Us treasury also says I have to contact direct express. It's frustrating and impossible with one number that is automated and does not transfer me to anybody.
Direct express does not care about their customers and since it's dealing with social security they just don't care or help if you have a problem. They should be shut down. Now if everyone cancel their card they would be out of business because that's a useless business

Please don't get this crap it is dumb is asf, and apparently the people that work there doesn't know how to fix one $#*!ing Issue. The card was great a few years back until they started tweeting with it. Like how I'm I locked out of the $#*!ing mobile app and can't use this card until Tuesday. Because my card is locked, And if u wanna use it to get something on credit it doesn't allow it. This $#*! is trash. Then if u have more than one card on the account and u have it locked u better double check it before entering in that security code, cause it will put another card in and cause u to lock the card up. But u can bet ur bottom dollar on it I will not be dealing with them anymore. I don't even wanna give y'all a one star cause the crap trash

My brother is vision impaired and someone used his debit card without his permission. When we contacted the company they told him it was his fault because he gave someone his pin #. Again my brother is BLIND and needed help using his card. Even though the police are charging the person that stole his money Direct Express will not refund his money.
It is July 8,2024 & I'm on the verge of more than likely leaving Direct Express after dealing with them for more than a decade - because of their UTTERLY STUPID RIDICULOUS changes they put you through to first: Get an ACH TRANSFER started to send funds to another bank; And then after multiple attempts (8 in total) for over 2 months (of resubmitting the same information they requested: most recent bank statements, a letter head document acknowledging you as current account owner, your address & front & back of your state id). Then you're FINALLY "APPROVED" after over two months but - only to be CONSTANTLY DENIED TO TRANSFER FUNDS for an "error (200)" which is never explained on line or by a customer service agent. All the agents say is 'they don't understand what that means and you should RESUBMIT THE SAME - BUT- MOST RECENT documents again, wait at least 5 hours to attempt making a new money transfer and MAYBE THAT WILL WORK AND THIS IS THEIR PROCEDURE EVERY TIME YOU'LL WANT TO TRANSFER FUNDS - AND THEN WAIT AND HOPE IT GOES THROUGH 1-3 OR 5 BUSINESS DAYS'.

Tomorrow morning I'm contacting another institution to receive my social security funds and go over their simple bank to bank money transfers - because I know they are all easier than this Direct Express IDIOCY! And of course at Direct Express you can't speak directly to someone on the panel, who directly reviews the documents you submit multiple times - only lower customer service representatives who know absolutely nothing to tell you specifically as to the real reason. SO I'M BEYOND DONE WITH DIRECT EXPRESS - AND WILL DISCOURAGE ANY AND ALL in the future from dealing with them 😡!
First they were very rude. They got mad when I got frustrated because I asked them why they can't verify me and instead of giving me a reason as to what else I needed to give all they said was "because I can't" wish I would've gotten the ladies name. I've been going through direct express for a few years now and I've never had a good customer service interaction. They're always rude and short. Tired of them acting like they get to be $#*!s just because we need help.
I have a card through direct Express that was given to me by the social security administration. That card got stolen, and despite verifying all of my (re: the card holder) information the woman I spoke too refused to issue a new card. Or even lock the old one. Useless.
I lost my card so I called to get a replacement card and they told me that under fraud investigation but I never called a fraudulent report they told me to email a copy of my ID and I did it took them 2weeks so I kept calling to see if they had gotten my email and was hung up on everytme I called this is so disrespectful playing with people money they just don't give a damn and have to pay my rent
Have been trying for over a week to speak with someone about a replacement card and have got no where. I wonder if anyone actually works for this company never been able to address my issue and can't even touch my money scam the one that are already struggling. It's a big fat lie about the 24-7 customer service because no matter the time of day or night I still have no spoken to a single sole all while they have the money that belongs to me
Direct express is without a doubt the worst possible way to receive your pension or social security funds. Their customer service is non existent taking numerous calls to even have a chance of getting a hold of a representative. Then they like to hang up on you while saying they will transfer you to another representative. Your deposits are most often late by hours and sometimes days. I can't conceive of a single reason they are still in business other than their government contract. Avoid at all cost.
They shut my account down with no warning. When I got declined at the pharmacy they told me it was for suspicious fraud and for my protection. They never provided any proof for this. They said I will get a new card in 10 business days. It is a long time to go without food and medicine.
When you are not being treated, fairly about your own money, call the inspector generals office on DR Xpress and find another bank that can handle your money. Change your accounts the best way you know how and put them out of business and also file claims against them because what they're doing is fraudulent is unfair and they're treating people like their scum of the Earth. Please people file complaints with your inspector general.
I recently had a problem where I ordered from a fake site and they tried to access my card and it was shut off but one worker went out her way to get my card up and running again and I was in jeopardy of getting evicted, so she was a blessing, it's the way you talk to people, she explained that she was disabled too, and she understood, so don't be so quick to complain, I don't know her name, mine is Charles so thanks to her I'm ok now

Don't recall how many times I've had to call em and go through two or three folks and wait and wait then they write up a ticket with your phone no. To call you back. I sometimes spend hr's into days with this, I don't want to say it. If anything O $#*! it
My account had fraudulent charges. I was able to get through to a representative. The next day, more fraudulent charges. The employee i had spoken to had not locked my card or begun the process to refund me.
Spent much time on the phone with a supervisor to try to fix.
Also I am regularly blocked from purchasing from any company they don't approve of. This even includes etsy.com and once it was costco, the censoring is absurd and insulting.
The thing I love most about it is the fact that I can not overdraft so if I try to spend to much it says declined instead of taking the charge & ending up with overdrafts like you would with normal banks. The other thing that is nice now is that they now have a phone app that will show me my balance, deposits, etc. I gave them 2 out of 5 stars because if your card is used without your knowing it or your over charged your pretty much screwed because they will send you a stack of paper work & never rule in your favor. Real banks will go out of their way to protect their customers but UDE could care less. I avoid having to talk to them at all costs & just use a 3rd party company like PayPal who will do their best to make things right because UDE will not. If like me thats fine with you, go for it, if not avoid them like the plague.

I can not rate the service because customer service is not an option sadly. The card is good & never been declined at any shop, but their customer service sucks.
The frustration of trying to reach this group on the phone is unbelievably frustrating. Their procedures are without thought and require great vigilance and follow through. Avoid using at all costs.
THIS IS INSANE! THEY TOLD ME HOW TO SHOP WHERE TO AND WERE NOT SHOP ONLINE AND I NOW NEED PERMISSION TO BY THEM TO SHOP FREELY FOR ONLY 3 DAYS! I'm HOMEBOUND I DO NOT HAVE NOR NEED CASH! MY PHARMACY REFUSES TO TAKE THIS CARD AS PAYMENT BECAUSE OF REFUSALS OF PAYMENT BY DIRECT EXPRESS! I'm HOMEBOUND. I do all my shopping online! Its 1 thing to say FRAUD, WE LOCKED U (GREAT UNLOCK ME)... ITS A MULTITUDE LEVELS OF WRONG TO MAKE ME ASK PERMISSION TO USE MY FUNDS FOR 3 DAYS MAX... THEN CALL AGAIN! THIS HAS TO BE ILLEGAL!
