If I am trading stocks, can I choose a regular account, or am I forced into getting a $10,000 one?

If you trade stocks then it doesn't mean that you are obliged to pick this account.
Shares account is for those who want to trade ONLY share and nothing more becasue contract size there equates 1 share + there are commissions instead of conventional spreads.
You can choose any account you wish for trading stocks, actually. The Xm broker doesn't make those who want trade shares deposit no less than $10k :)

Only $10 000 account for owning actual stocks (called "shares" account, it also has no leverage). Tbh it just wouldnt make sense to create a brokerage acc and to own stocks if you have much less.
But if you want to speculate on stock prices, there are plenty of stock CFDs with XM, thats what most people are doing. Just saying if price of AAPL or NVDA will go up or down during next week/next hour, without actually owning the asset itself. Could be much more profitable; but also obviously more risk too.
