Buy great deals when deliveries come since they go fast. Gouda, 7 oz from Denmark for 1.99 & 8.5#'s of salsa for 2.99 great buys this week. Often items not marked and shelves not labelled with higher price so sticker shock at checkout. Biggest complaint we have is the background music is in the foreground, often so loud it interferes with cell calls. Stores say corporate says to keep volume up since people will shop longer. In our case we can't wait to leave ceiling speaker areas.

This store is go-to place for just about anything I need from food to holiday items to household items. The original idea was that EVERYTHING was 99 cents, which made for easy shopping. After a time, some items disappeared or came in smaller packages. Then everything became 99.99 cents. OK, so they needed to make more profit. I can understand. Then a few months ago they upped some of the prices. Some things were up
To $1.99 or more. It's still a good place to check first for low prices (along with Dollar Tree) but the selection and prices are not as good as they were.
Tip for consumers:
Don't assume something you like is going to be there tomorrow or that it will be restocked.
Yeah 99 cent store our #1 jerks! Nothing and I promise you I will never shop there again
The cashier was rude and rolled her eyes at me when I accidentally pressed no, thinking it wanted cash back, but it was asking if the price was ok, I make a mistake and she says an annoyed tone, you're supposed to press yes. And I apologize and she rolls her eyes at me. The worst service.
Nothing is 0.99 anymore. Everything is even more expensive than other stores and in some cases don't display the right price or no show price at all so when you pay 0h! Surprise! You item is more expensive than the price on the counter shows.
I'm very disappointed about how the 99¢ store has been taking advantage & misleading customers. Yesterday I bought a bag of 4 avocado's for $1.99 today the same avocados were removed from the bag to sell individually however no price posted. Next to the bin were other avocados listed at 49¢ each. I selected the individual ones with no price as I know I purchased the same ones for $1.99 for 4. So I assumed they'd be ¢50 each or 49 like the ones next to them. At check out cashier said $1.25 each. When I told her I bought same one in a bag for $1.99 for 4 she said these are different. I said why are the marked for 1.25 each she said I'll give them to you for 99¢ each. Which is it $1.25,99¢ and why wasn't the bin marked with a price. She was making prices up at the check out. Shame on 99¢ store for taking advantage of consumer's. Please share with family and friends.

I stopped by the 99 cent store yesterday to return 4 cans of peaches, which incidentally I paid $1.29 a piece for. They were the worst peaches I'd ever tasted in my life (probably Army surplus from World War II). They were yellow, had no flavor, and had the consistency of a raw potato!
After I handed the receipt over to the cashier she studied it for a moment and then told me my money would not be refunded. She pointed to the bottom of the receipt and told me to read what it said. I told her I didn't have my reading glasses and to stop playing games, and tell me what it said. Again she pointed at the bottom if the receipt and almost gleefully recited to me that I only had "9 days to return up to nine items." She then looked up at me over her glasses and told me the my items were purchased 13 days ago.
With that I took back my receipt and told the her, "The 99 cent store can take their four cans of peaches and their ridiculous return policy and go kick rocks because I'll never shop here again."
I then drove to the nearby Dollar Tree store down the street to inquire about their return policy, Other than a few restrictions for seasonal items, as long as you have a receipt, you can return the item.
I hope this review opens a few eyes and makes someone think twice about shopping at your stores!
I have shopped at many of these stores using the app that gave 3 to 5 dollars off. A cashier at another city a year back informed me of multiple uses you can do after you close out your items then pay and repeat until each 25 dollar transaction is paid for while redeeming your coupon. You have one hour only. I spend 200 and save a little money this is based on closing each transaction at 25 dollars then repeating until my groceries are gone. Jackie at the 99 cent store in Elsinore off of Central said her district manager said only one use when I tried this. I said they need to put this in writing because I have been doing this at the other 99 cents stores and never had a problem. I informed her each will be a seperated transaction and each will be closed out. During our transaction she didn't inform me she was going to leave the station she just stopped and walked away, spoke to a man I assume the manager came back without apology continued transaction with an annoyed face and frankly she was rude. I stayed focused. Sad,get your people informed and if you don't like what you do then change it. I said please, thank you,and have a blessed day. I don't work there but I do know how to treat people.
Tip for consumers:
Make sure they are aware that you have alot of groceries it will be many transactions so they can open an additional station so people won't have to wait.

I received a nice email after my last review from the 99cent store but I have to be honest and say that no improvements have been made, one cashier with at least 6 customers waiting-and that cashier won't greet you let alone smile at you- shelves are low on products and in disarray. It's too bad that it is like this because the store itself carries some really nice items that I want but don't buy because of the check out the situation. Only one manager will come out to open a register to get more customers checked out but unfortunately she is leaving this store and the other managers that I have encountered there simply avoid looking at the check out lines and proceed to go to their office in the back or do whatever which is not to work in improving their store. I tried to give them chances for improving and entered their store around 5 pm. The manager blocked the whole aisle and was slowly fixing something on the flower display. Guess she was killing time before her break? Anyway excuse me didn't work for me as she decided to start talking to someone so I backed up and went to another aisle. I found some garden items I wanted so proceeded to check out but yes you guessed it-one mean cashier with this ugly look on her face and a line that went on for eternity. Where was the manager? On her way for her break. She asked the cashier if the check out line was long without bothering to see for herself, said she would return after her break and walked right past us angry customers without even looking at the huge line. So once again I left the store leaving a full basket of products that I had planned on buying and drove to the dollar tree where I can at the very least get a cashier who smiles and back up cashiers if needed.
Tip for consumers:
Do not bother with the Roseville store unless you have time to kill
Be prepared to shop for 10 minutes then wait 20 minutes in line. One cashier is open but if you are lucky another lane will open. Unfortunately, someone that just got in line way after you will race to get ahead of everyone and check out. Cashiers don't ask the next person in line to come over, they simply open up and let the customers race over. Not only does this make me not shop here, the store which is busy has a horrid spoiled odor in the grocery section along with fruit flies buzzing around. Simply not worth shopping at to save a few bucks. Notice how more and more products are 1.99 or more now? Check the tags before checking out and plan on a long wait checking out and not so friendly cashier to boot=not a good shopping experience at all.
