When contacting someone about rehoming a pet, ask for a Youtube link on videos about the pet you want. I adopted out two cats on this site. Videos really provide a lot more info. Shelters in Houston, Texas area are usually full of cats, kittens, dogs and puppies needing homes. Good luck! AG 02/07/2021
This adopt a pet needs to do something different every time that you have a pet that's for you you go to to see it and by the time you want it it's already adopted it's happened with three little dogs also when you call the place in Fort Lauderdale they never pick up the phone ever my best bet for future people just go to Broward go to Broward and you can adopt a pet for free there it cost like 20 bucks they pick up the phone and you can go there in person

Apopt-A-Pet...This is the second time I try this service to adopt. First time with Leo actually went to meet him, the foster parent basically talked me out of him I felt so guilty I left a donation hoping she could keep him. They also said he was a young dog on the site and Leo was clearly an older dog. Here's my second time around with Mabel. I applied and although a lady named Bridget responded quickly to say hey maybe we can meet next week it's been crickets no response to any of my texts and all I'm trying to do is schedule a meet up. The website says Mabel is no longer up for adoption and when I queried Bridget she said she's still up for adoption. Yet still crickets. I question an organization like this that makes it so difficult to even meet up with the pet. I think they're more about getting donations and hoarding pets although Mabel seems to be owned by an individual and needs to be rehomed. Obviously they're not that anxious to rehome Mabel. She's adorable. But when they don't respond or at least schedule you I have to scratch my head and ask what the true intent is. Buyers beware!

'Adopt a Pet' background checks on available dogs turned out to be nonexistent or they wouldn't have indicated that the dog that I drove 4 hours out of state to get had had any of her shots/ vet checks. Do misunderstand, she is a great dog but most of the background information on her was either imaginary or an outright lie. She has had none of her shots and I suspect has never had a vet visit. I later found out that 3 other people had looked at her within two days and had not adopted her. Again, I suspect that the rehoming fee was the issue.

After deciding on a beautiful dog, made payment arrangements, paying 300 upfront, the dog was over 6 hours away, was told he would be delivered because the person who had the dog traveled to Dallas once weekly. The person who had the dog and I spoke on the phone twice. The second time, that same person informed me that she won't be coming to Dallas and doesn't have a courier coming that way. She said she might after after the 1st. We were told the change after paying the deposit and would finish paying the rest this week. I informed the animal shelter and was told I'm selfish and would have to forfeit the money. Even though, I was not informed of all information at the beginning. Lesson learned. I was blocked also. Scam. Do not go to adopt a pet passion animal rescue!

I emailed Adopt A Pet asking if they had a dog for a companion for my existing dog. A very rude woman replied saying "You're not getting a dog. You didn't say you have a fenced yard." No one ever asked me if I have a fenced yard, and I do. I replied back telling her that, she ignored it entirely. Now I have to wonder if this outfit actually wants to save dogs, or euthanize them.
You can apply for a trillion pets and not get approved for any, furthermore, no response & no answer from any of the rescue/ shelter they supposedly work with, also, what's up with $650 for a grown adult dog? Shameless
A few days ago, I attempted to adopt a dog in my area on the *******@Adopt-a-Pet website. The email I received for potential adopters states: "Most people looking to rehome respond within 14 days. So now, we wait!"
Really? Two weeks? Why not have a policy that places a three-day time constraint to the pet's responsible party to answer either way? If the pet's owner/rescue is non-responsive, then the profile gets deleted from the website.
Serious lack of working neurons behind this website.
This is a scam website. If you are looking to rehome they'll charge you $50 and never post. They have no contact at all which is a red flag. Will dispute the charge. I don't understand how these sites are not shut down.
Do not fill out the application! They are a total scam and most likely selling your information after you submit all your personal info. There is no way to actually contact them. Shame on them for taking advantage of people who are actually willing to help these poor animals.

I am an officer of the state of California for the last 19 years and this is totally a fake site. They text you and they wanted to deliver the dog to your house but they just change it out each and every time and talk to me on the text and then when I asked to speak with his wife at 4:30 there was no call as he promised then they say they sold the dog, but there is no dog
I applied for an interview and was granted but adopt a pet says that I was denied for the reason of dangerous enviroment. I request an explanation so that I could correwct and havenm't got a response in 3 days.

I was interested in adopting a 2 year old cat I saw on this site from a rescue called Passion Animal rescue in University park, Tx. I emailed a question and received an answer right away. So when they asked for an application with a $35 fee through cashapp or zelle, I did so even with some qualms. When I asked for notification of receipt, no answer. Another question about the cat, no answer. I made inquiries through the AdoptAPet site and straight to the rescue. A week later I got an email asking if I was still interested. I said yes. Then, nothing. I notified the site and they said the rescue was legitimate and just ask for the money back. I did. No answer. I will say their customer service was fine. They responded quickly and addressed my concerns, but then I filed a complaint form with site and have not received any feedback. The cat is still on the website.
Bottom line, AdoptaPet allows scams on their website. I lost my $35.
I posted before about their website, how slow and cumbersome it was to use. It still is but I can live with that. What I can't live with is them allowing a private party to post a mixed breed mutt with a price tag of $1600. When I contacted them they told me if I wanted a lower adoption fee to go to my local shelter. This has nothing to do with me wanting a lower adoption fee, and everything to do with allowing people to use animals as personal income. I understand having an adoption fee but this is beyond ridiculous.
If Adopt A Pet is going to run an animal adoption site they need to take responsibility for what's posted on that site, period, especially if they're made aware of an issue. Just because you're actually adopting from a private party, rescue or shelter through their site doesn't mean they should sit idle and allow people to use animals in this way.
When you start your search a "new pet alert" pops up where you can sign up to get email notifications. There's a choice of free or $10/month. There's also a box that says "don't show me this again". Don't bothering checking that box, it doesn't work. You have to X out of the alert to continue your search. Then while you're searching the new pet alert pops up again. And again. Yes I emailed them about it and no, they didn't do anything to fix it.
Also I'm searching for a dog by owner. Some owners put little or no information and there's no way to contact them with questions. I also emailed adoptapet about this, I was told I should fill out an application then the pet owner can get in touch with me. Why would I waste my time completing an application when I have no idea if the dog is a good match? Or if it's even still available?
Too much frustration and time wasted, I'll be looking elsewhere.

After messaging donnas canine rescue, as per her request, not even a phone call, I realized this is purely a scam and my neighbour agreed as well since he was out $900 and no dog arrived at what they call "Toronto international airport". At least get the name of the airport right. Stick to a reputable agency.
As listed in most reviews, I get no response. Now I question the credibility of the original owners. Business practices warrant referral to the District attorney. I too should have searched the web for reviews. I did get a sweet beagle with lots of abandonment and anxiety issues. We are working with her and seem to be making progress.

This Adopt a Pet site has to be a scam. For months I've been responding within hours of receiving their emails with one of three results. 1. The pet is no longer available. 2. I fill out an application but never hear back. 3. The pet is from a shelter some distance away that limits adoptions to local residents or which has absurd requirements such requiring returning the pet for spaying, visits to a trainer, or other officious nonsense. Short of avoiding adoption by animal abusers such as those involved in dog fighting or research, it is hard for me to understand the bureaucratic hoops one is put through to adopt a pet these days.
Understand that this group has a PREMIUM plan of which they repeatedly remind you. So for $10/month you can jump the queue and get the email alerts ahead of everyone else. I suspect the $10 subscription is the real goal of these scammers.
I called over this adorable Siberian puppy listed as being 8 weeks old and was sent an "application" to fill out. After filling out several pages the questions they asked were very personal financial information, information that could be used to either drain one's bank account, tax one's credit line or steal one's identity. I spoke to someone on the phone about this and was assured they were perfectly legit and on the up-and-up. I decided to wait and do some research and found this scam report site as well as others. Still, I wanted to see for myself. Six week later I went online and sure enough, the same little adorable Siberian Husky was there, still only 8 weeks old. Amazing how they stopped time! Adopt a Pet is, in my opinion, likely nothing more than a scam to separate a person from their money. Don't try it.
We have been looking at several dogs and no one returns our calls, let us know if the dog was adopted or even responded to an email. You'd think with all the dogs they say they are overrun with because of people surrendering their pets that they would be a little more people friendly and trying to get these animals actual loving homes. We have hit more dead ends with these people than anyone we've contacted. We found a dog we really liked, filled out the application, emailed a couple times... nothing! Very upset!

Ask for a YouTube video of the pet you wish to adopt. If you wish to re-home a pet, add photos but also take short videos to help potential owners know that the pet is available fo adoption.

Won't call back. Address is a mail box inside a mailbox store. Total fraud, gives hours of operation what to the mail box store. Phone # is out of area, with no answer. Scam! Just feeding off funding, can't find anywhere or anyone around business that knows of them. Even shelters do not know them.
If this site that pretty much covers a huge number of pets is not sufficient enough with people, responders, and sources, they should not be created and give people false hope and sense of getting a pet for the families.
Every time i liked a pet and sent an email, it took so long for them to respond and every time they said the pet has been adopted. Very disappointed. I wish there were more sites available for pet adoption. Because i only have the option of going to my local shelters. Not many choices. So sad.
Have been trying to adopt for 3 months. Filed out a number of applications. All that responded state application reviews great. All have checked with veterinarians each time. NONE will go as far as to set up appointments to meet dogs. None advise if there is a problem. Dogs removed as if adopted out. Immediately relisted! Approximately 1/2 of the listed dogs pages are immediately gone when I open the specific shelter sites. If they are NOT trying to find homes for dogs or cats, why waste the effort? What is the purpose of this scam?
I had my lovely cat advertised on this website for several months. I got NO interested families, emails, questions, etc. How is that possible? Could it be the $50 adoption fee? Either way, It seems like they need help in attracting people / families to the website. There are many people with legitimate reason as as to why they need to Rehome their pet. This website does a great job making it appear that no one is interested in your pet, so that you can change your mind and remove your account. I would not recommend this to anyone looking for someone to adopt their pet. It needs improvement.
Tip for consumers:
Don't waste valuable time trying to get your pet adopted using Rehome by Adopt a pet.com. Do your research and find another way because I don't think it's legit.

Very happy with the communication from Adopt A Pet. They sent information frequently to me that closely matched my request. It was all up to me to decide. I waited and turned down until I decided which pet to adopt. The process was terrific. I'm extremely happy with the contact person who told me up front what to expect - slow at the beginning, training, observe, more training, etc. She came home so scared and timid, expected this at her age, it's all new and not what she was used to. I'm not a new pet owner so I went into this knowing my responsibilities. She's getting lots of cuddles, helpful happy training, and she's warming up quickly. You have to help them. I'm 100% happy with Adopt A Pet!
