One month, and hours of calling and getting hung up on, I was told (by Ms. Maxwell, also helpful) to call and ask for the Account management Team to get results. I called and was connected to Kiana who was the kindest most helpful person ever. She was able to resolve a problem I had with two cameras that stopped working and no longer had any support. She took the time to make sure all my concerns were answered and taken care of. Than you Kiana for being the customer service specialist we all wish to talk to. Brian

“34 year customer”

We have been with ADT for over 34 years. We are a retired couple on a fixed income. I recently installed an alarm system to try and save some money. I called to cancel, and they say I am under contract until June of next year and that we owe close to $300. Last time was talked to ADT we thought we were month to month contract. I talked to several people in billing, and none of them said they could do anything to forgive the charge. In the last 34 years, we've paid ADT over $20,000. I am amazed at how heartless this company is. I would strongly recommend using a different company when it comes to security.

If I can rate below 0 for ADT, I'll rate -5. This company didn't get investigated about its sales practice, it's also an issue of lack of governance and oversight on this type of service. ADT's sales "persuaded" me purchased more than $6k equipment, even at the time I've said I don't need that those, w/o disclosing I have to pay full amount of service charge for 5 years in addition to full amount for equipment when I terminate service (because of work, I have to move). It's not only not worth it, it is a trap. I write this review so general public research for security products can see it and be very careful, ask right question, don't trust sales, read contracts yourself before you sign it. We naively thought as consumer in this era, we are generally protected, but we are not. ADT definitely exploit customer's naivety, in a big deal. Such a company, their practice, I don't even think they will last long in this era with the spread of internet and customer review. But we paid our price and will be careful when sign up on any service. No one can be trusted.

ADT another dumb technology company. Not reputable at all had our smoke alarm go off 15 minutes later they call. Enough to burn the house down. Had problems with door locks, a week later they co. E out, still not working right. Very u professional stuff will not deal with problems a d pass the uck to a other that your on hold for 50 plus minutes or hang up. This hand does t know what the other ha d does. Staff has a arritude, and double charges you for when a credit is to be applied twice. They are not what they use to. E. I the 80s they were great, today they stink. I would t recommend the. To a yo e. SVe trouble a d look otherwise. You will be glad you did. Very unsatified. Wish I never went with this company y I give them mi us 5 star

I lost 20k $ with inventory because ADT thermal heat sensor did not go on while thieves were inside my store. A month ago, They pushed me so much to buy higher service with 3 year contract & I did. I regret that decision deeply. When I needed their service to work, they failed. ADT technician came today and told me ADT did poor job and put delay on front door sensor. That delay gave thieves ample time to break showcases, drawers, cabinet and steal my merchandise. I should be reimburse for my loss.
MY ADT Work Order Summary for Job: *******! ADT IS A SCAM! DO NOT GET SERVICE FROM THEM.

I am a top tier premium package 3 year contract customer. Paying over $3,000 for full contract service with this company. Had to purchase my own Ring Cameras... as they only have ADT doorbell camera. The 1 device they place their name on (the doorbell camera) suddenly stops working. Call for help & they want to charge $60 for a repair person to come out. Of course I ask for a Supervisor to waive this fee. Supervisor Shontel calls back & instead of compassion she immediately berates me on my "tone" due to my frustration. Shontel ACTUALLY said the words "I don't even know what this is about, i am just now looking at it"
Shontel, then how about you take 30 seconds and REVEIW the account prior to calling and making your customers repeat ALL the information that is in front of you.
The cost is too high & is felt even more when you have uncaring supervisors.
STAY AWAY from ADT.

DO NOT use ADT
Contracts are permanent. No escape. Will charge you for entire 3 years if you try to cancel.
$70/month + $60 every time they come out to fix their OWN product.
Rude customer Service.
Stay away, you have been warned.

When I decided to use ADT security services I thought I was getting a good company. I sure was fooled right from the very beginning. The 1st service technician showed up only got part way into the service and told me he had to leave for a bigger job. That made me feel like I was not good enough. They sent another technician who completed the job. Problem is shortly after she left our home several monitors fell off windows and door. I called to ask for help since we where a new customer! Well the answering service said we would have to pay them to send out a new technician. I told them we're a new customer and they said it doesn't matter. So I tried to do my best with double sided tape. When my contract time was about over I called the complained to complain. A service manager or PR person was sent out to my house. I showed them there sloppy work and what I had been told. They said I received poor service and treatment and wanted to offer big discounts. Oh that was after their prices more then doubled during my contract time. Very, very poorly run and managed company!

I have been on the telephone with ADT so much I should be on their payroll. There are some good ethical employees and OMG there are some down right crooks. One of the CSR tried to get me to pay $50.00 over my bill. After asking her how she came up with that figure multiple times and informing her she was being recorded she placed me on hold and left me holding. I eventually hung up and called back several times asking the same question, no one else came up with that figure. That girl was apparently trying to get money by swindling customers as her side hustle. Someone has been entering my home stealing and destroying items in my home; guess what? ADT never catches nothing. The window used for entry has a camera right in front of it, but it never catches them. According to technical support my cameras cannot operate with a secure password and cannot be changed without calling a technician out each time to get the cameras back online. This is antiquated technology since it is recommended that passwords be changed regularly and use a combination of letters, numbers and special characters. A technician was at my home to get the cameras online and working for me on Tuesday, February 28,2023, the last recording was on Thursday, March 2,2023. Well, 2 of 5 cameras is not recording. The two that are not working are on side where the breaking are occurring… I hate to leave this review, but wish I had known before signing up with them. One more thing, I was told a three year contract but my contract says 5 years. This was done during Covid, so I could read it and didn't sign it….

As a tech business we require an alarm system to function. After a power outage the system went down. We were notified by ADT on a Saturday night. We setup for a technician to come out on the Monday during business hours. At 5:15pm Monday night as we closed for the day I called and spoke to someone in tech support at ADT. The lady said that she couldn't understand why the technician didn't show up, but she took my email address and advised that she woulf update me as soon as she had more. It is now Wednesday and we are calling back again. This time they are telling us that they can't get anyone out until next Monday. Our facility will be without an alarm for over a week at that point. Wow. Talk about a vunerability. We have 3 locations with them and have been a good paying faithful customer. As we add our 4th location, guess what. I'm shopping for alarm companies. Sorry Telus and ADT - you did this to yourself.

Tip for consumers:
Look at reviews and get an alarm company that has a good rating. ADT and Telus doesn't even let Google show a rating. Look them up on the Better Business Bureau. They have a discusting rating!

I've contacted them numerous times to have my camera's set back up after months of being offline.
Requested they update my contact number (Haven't done it yet).
Asked for assistance, only to be told only option is virtual having me do all the leg to service it myself.
Can't remove the service because I've got 2 months out of several years of my contract left.
Only thing this company has been consistent in is requesting that I renew my contract that I would have never signed up for knowing that my cameras only capture half a month for $70 a month and to find they will end up giving up on servicing my camera's.
Now only option is my virtual assistant call that I'm currently trying to get through to, because they have my wife's number and specifically requested they call my phone. Now my 2 day in advance "virtual" appointment isn't going to happen because they won't update the info for me.
What a complete waste of money and time. Sure can't wait for the 2 months to go by so I can forgive and forget ADT for good. Thanks for nothing guys.

Service is fine until you try to cancel. I have been trying to cancel this service since February of 2023 (6 months). The first call they didn't record, the 2nd (in May) they did document but someone forgot to send my cancelation for processing so I continued to get charged for service. Then in July, I got promised to have it canceled and back dated (including the charges for the extra months)... and now in August, im still fighting to get the charges for service at a house I don't even live at removed. This company is predatory... they continue to "benevolently" give you service even if you don't pay your bill racking up extra months of charges instead of canceling it, but make it near impossible to cancel. Also, their two office locations that they have listed in my area are false addresses. I've filed complaints with both the BBB and FTC. We don't have to just take this from companies like this.

Just don't sign up, so many better options

We bought a doorbell from my mother she's a 100 years old for the camera for security the doorbell broke the battery went low about over a month ago we were never told we had to charge the battery or anything we ran around to find the battery charger finally got that at walnart...adt sends a video to A 100 year old woman my brother's 75 they would not come to the house with still waiting for them to come out to the house to fix the doorbell the doorbell's been broken almost 2 months now They just gave us an appointment for January 3rd I would not recommend ADT at all

But my complaint is I was with ADT for three years call for front door sensor and when they got here they talked me into upgrading my system not one time did they say I was gonna be stuck into another three-year contract also came out my pocket $300 to upgrade with being a customer for three years and to just upgrade your system you are stuck into another contract that is ridiculous especially when they don't tell you that hope this helps just keep your same system trust me the old systems works the same. Also before going to ADT make sure y'all Google search because it's a lot of reviews about ADT

I've been a loyal customer for over 10 years.my system was old and started having problems.it was supposed to be covered under a warranty but I was told I had to up grade the system at first it was 1,700 I wasn't happy with that price I asked for another quote and got four different prices finally got it down to 1,200 which was still crazy seeing how they wouldn't replace the sensors only the keypad.on top of that they raised my rate from 30.00 a month to 57.00 a month.I tried to cancel my adt before my 30 days where up and I couldn't get through to anyone.id ask for the supervisor and they kept hanging up on me. ADT used to be great now not so much and now I'm stuck with a 3year contract they the suckered me into.

Unbelievable I don't have words for them they are just going street to street knowing doors and ripping out people nothing else they just destroyed the name of ADT and costumers. I have very very bad experience or my bad luck I open my door that day burn after a week last year in April I get the service till then to today they are making me idiot they didn't help at all every single time they came and they left they have so many reasons BUT they didn't held me at all And I am stuck with that...!

I had ADT for 6 years. Earlier this year my living room camera stopped working. I called ADT, I was informed that I have to pay for some to come and fix the problem. I immediately wanted to cancel my subscription, I was told that I will have to continue paying till 11/24/23. So I continued to pay. On 9/25/23@ 455pm I called spoke to Jackie who informed me that I have to call on 11/24/23, that is when my contract expires. I called on Black Friday was informed that the billing office is closed. I called on the morning Monday spoke to Sofie, then supervisor and canceled my account. Today I received a bill for December. Santiago hung the phone on me. After requesting to speak to a supervisor. He tells me it's unnecessary for me to talk to a supervisor. Very RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE. They don't listen but they want you to pay no questions asked. ADT please be careful. They will not protect your security. NOTHING BUT SCAMMERS! Buyer BEWARE!

I has just bought my first house a few years ago, and was calling to change my utilities when I was not prepared to be transferred to Adt services. The ADT salesman repeatedly presses me to secure my home after I repeatedly try to tell them I wasn't ready to make this decision.

They have their buts covered legally because they got me to sign all the legal disclaimers before fully enrolling.

Customer service has taken more than hour on hold just get to my call, several times over now.

I try several times to tell them I can't afford this anymore. Their answer "we can't cancel your contract unless you pay off the entire remaining balance". Yes, you can, you won't. In this day and age, it's bad business.

There's a reason this not Better Business Accredited. There are much cheaper alternatives that are Better Business Accredited. ADT has made me more careful what companies I will do business with in the future.

Currently waiting for my contract to end so I can leave this company. ADT does not live up to how well known they are.

This company is absolute garbage, would never want any one i know to have or think about getting ADT,
Girlfriends car got broken into and the system never notified anyone was IN OUR DRIVEWAY! Yet it picks up turkeys at night by my mailbox?
They had no answers
Now trying to cancel and am being told it will cost me almost $5,000 to cancel! Thats horrible
They want to finish paying for the service and systems for the 5 years, id under stand a few hundred but not 5k!? "pay us for a system youre not using" what a joke so pissed cant believe any company could ever do this to someone
No to mention ive had it for 4 months and have nothing but issues, ive had to leave work multiple times to reset the system to get working again.
DONT GET ADT! Better off with a gold fish looking over your house

The absolute worst experience! For a security system company, they did a lousy job and gave me a false sense of security as they did not protect as paid for or advertised. The technician who came out to do the initial installation didn't know what he was doing, didn't communicate, and didn't do his job. He left half the house without window contacts. The ones placed were positioned so that every time the shades came down, the contact cover came off and created a faulty system. He installed a Google doorbell camera and did not hook it up to the ADT system or Google Home, so it was not recording or providing security.

Yesterday it took one hour to get technical support. I waited another 3 hours to get virtual assistant technical support, who called 30 minutes late and initially attempted to tell me ADT did its job, and the rest was on me. That did not go over well, and we had a conversation. After 2 hours of him assisting me in doing it myself, the doorbell camera remained nonfunctional. I will need to wait another week for assistance.

I would not recommend ADT for your security or protection needs.

Called to cancel account in my name and was on hold twice for 20 minutes each time and then the third time for 30 minutes. By then I was over it. I answered the same questions each time and advised the rep that I have already answered and to just cancel because my husband and I have switched. He then asked if he could speak to the decision maker. Seriously, they try to keep you as a customer by all means necessary including being nice nasty and keeping you on hold so that you'll just give up. The alarm system was never that great, remembering the time that the alarm was going off even after putting in the code and the rep laughed bc apparently it was funny to them. 17 years with ADT and I will never go back. Just to stay loyal I kept it, but it really is a relief to be done. Hold times are too long and they don't seem want to actually help. I know reps have a job to do but seems like you should be able to just cancel online or cancel without being asked a thousand questions by rude representative working from home eating their lunch. Disappointed but not surprised.

Whatever you do; stay away from ADT! Signing up is easy, quick and friendly but as soon as you place your order you're disregarded. I spent a month everyday calling trying to talk to an account specialist who is said to be the only person who can help. The sales guy Elvis came to my house to give an estimate for the equipment. I clearly stated I only needed camera's nothing else. He proceeded to put smoke detector on the list of items. Ive called several times for a return and refund of the smoke detectors but the customer service guy keeps putting it in as a replacement so they sent me another one. Again daily I call at different times of the day hoping a certain time would make a difference but it doesn't they place you on hold which is their game. Put you on hold for hours, never help you so that you will change your mind on trying to get a refund or cancel your account. They make it difficult for you to make a payment or getting access to the right apps so you're at risk of having a late payment meaning you owe them late fees. After a month the first person to answer customer service said she was an account manager, took my information then when I said I wanted to cancel my account because I'm not happy with the service I've been having; she tells me that she has to transfer me to a different type of account manager for my exact product. More games More B***S***. At this point I'm putting together paperwork with my lawyers to sue the company.

When contract came to an end I called to cancel do to fact I wasn't happy with service and price. I called to cancel my contract and had to wait 30 days before canceled and pay one last prorated fee of which I understood and was ok with. The issue was they do not actually cancel when you call so when call 3 days after should have been canceled they tell you there was never a call showing you canceled and expect you to pay another 30 days and there is nothing they can or will do about it other then offer $20 discount for your inconvenience.

Tip for consumers:
Stray away do to poor service when system has issues, over priced, and if try to cancel they do all can to continue charging, plus if they don't put in system to cancel its your fault and still expect you to continue paying
