I have taken several trips with AFS and would not travel with any other company. The care and hard work and attention to detail that goes into every trip Suzy and Terry put together is evident. Not only great tour guides, great accommodations, they make sure to provide a full experience that includes fun and learning about the local culture and seeing the beauty in this world. As a solo traveler, I have had the opportunity to see places I never would have without Suzy's trips! Not only do you come back with memories of a lifetime and camera full of amazing pictures, you become part of the AFS family with many new wonderful friends! Highly recommend! Thankful for AFS helping me to see the world and places I dream about.

I have been traveling with this group now for 8 years. In the 8 years I've traveled with this group has been extraordinary. The places I have traveled to and things I have seen are beyond you imagination. While checking off my bucket list of trips I have acquired many good friends from all over the US. Suzy and Terry who own and run the organization are outstanding. Their compassion for their work just shines through with each and every trip. If you are single and want to travel but have no one to travel with, you'll need to check out this site. After your first trip you will have made a number of new friends and never have to worry about traveling alone again. Did I mention their prices are phenomenal?

I have been on 5 Adventures for Singles (AFS) trips, most recently just got back in October 2017 from Everest Base Camp, and I will never travel alone or with any other travel group again. The trips are always so organized - you show up at the place and time they say and everything is taken care of for you. The amendities, food and entertainment have always been first class. I have always been so impressed by every tour guide and trip leader, how patient, friendly and informative they are. AFS provides trip tips on the website for each trip which lists every detail you need to know - what to pack, what to buy, how to purchase Visas and they are available immediately along with the detailed itineraries. You cant go wrong or miss a beat if you read and follow the trip tips and itinerary!

The owner is extremely helpful and gracious if you need anything before or during the trip. The locations are places I could never book by myself. And finally, the people that are on these trips are fabulous - males, females, different age ranges... but they all have one thing in common, they love to travel and make new friends. Actually, many have become lifelong friends. And we all continue trips with AFS and we know we will be on another trip together soon.

I travel alone and traveling with AFS has been an extreme pleasure and is now my addiction. The number of trips many people have travelled with AFS is in the double digits. I just booked my 6th trip with AFS for March 2018. I strongly recommend traveling with AFS! Great company!

I booked a trip to South Africa last summer with this company. First off, I found Suzy Davis and her husband to be very rude, condescending and not helpful at all. I should have just cancelled the trip after my first contacts with them given how unpleasant they were, but I wanted to go on my dream trip to celebrate my 40th birthday, so I stuck with my safari plans.
It ended up being one of the worst and most stressful experiences of my life. I flew from Chicago and had a layover in Europe, where I was bullied and harassed by staff at KLM airlines and was not allowed to board the plane. This happened two days in a row before I was flown back to the states against my will. This ended up in a lawsuit with KLM.
But that's not even the worst part. When I, a female traveling by myself, failed to show up in J-burg, no one asked any questions or tried to contact me or my family members, whose contact info I had given to AFS for emergencies. I could have been kidnapped and killed for all they cared. I don't know why they bothered even asking for emergency contact info when one of their clients who was travelling to a place I'd never been is a no-show. Wouldn't that constitute a phone call? Nope. This showed me a complete lack of interest on the company's part for the well-being of their clients. I was crushed, absolutely devastated and very angry. Suzy and Terry act like they know everything, but it was evidently not clear to them that a client traveling from across the world pretty much disappears on their watch should probably be a matter of some concern. This experience and it's aftermath left me traumatized and afraid to travel alone. Fortunately I did prevail in court and was compensated for how badly I was treated by the airline. But yes I had a terrible, horrible experience with AFS. Absolutely NOT recommended!

I went to Thailand with AFS.
My first contact with them was with Terri over the phone. To say he is curt, and not a people person, is quite the understatement! As another reviewer mentioned, I should have cancelled the trip there and then, but I didn't.
Ensuing emails were poorly written and confusing. After paying the single supplement, I was informed Terri screwed up at one of the hotels and I would be forced to share a room for two nights. Oh! I'd get a whopping $100 refund for this inconvenience.
We were supposed to see long-necked Mon women and see how the Mon tribe lives. Somehow that didn't materialize. We were scheduled to visit FIVE factories in one day (think kickbacks) as our planned activity for seeing Thailand! That is not seeing Thailand.
We spent two nights in a camping resort. Two nights! It was one night too many. Mostly wasted time hanging out in the resort pool. Not time seeing Thailand.
Then we spent four nights in the same hotel. Very little planned (included) sightseeing. If you wanted to see the real Thailand, then take it upon yourself to set up tours and pay even more money.
Two nights in that resort would have been adequate, and then move on to another part of Thailand.
I didn't get to see much of Thailand, yet I spent top. Dollar for the trip.
The group leader was also curt. A van was provided for some of us to leave the elephant farm early since we did not want to participate in elephant riding (it was touted as a sanctuary, but it was not one). The group leader had unkind words about the use of the AFS van. None of the people who got on the van had asked for it. We were all prepared to take taxis back to the hotel.
There was no assistance with additional sightseeing, or the company offering additional excursions for a fee.
A trip to Asia should encompass seeing as much as possible. The goal of AFS was to get as much kickbacks as possible.
Poorly run company. Unprofessional staff. Poorly planned trip.
I have travelled with quite a few tour companies, and AFS is the bottom of the barrel in my book.
Be careful to REALLY read the itinerary. See how much they plan for sightseeing and how much free time you get. The burden of doing this homework is on us travelers.
Compare the AFS itinerary to other companies itinerary BEFORE you book.
