“AAP are the best! Don't shop anywhere else!”

Since I discovered the American Aquarium Products site a few years ago, the site has been a constant companion for my fish keeping. I can honestly say that without thier knowledge base and the products they sell, most of my beautiful fancy goldfish would be dead! I started out knowing nothing and learned everything from this site. Their fantastic online shop just keeps getting better and their service is wonderful. My fish and I thank you so much! X. “Very unhappy”

I ordered a UV sterilizer for almost 200$ from them, the first one arrived fine. I asked who they used for shipping and was told UPS, so knowing that the first one I ordered arrived with no problems. NOT even a week later I ordered another one ( same exact thing) I noticed a price difference after I checked out. I contacted them and they told me they just started free shipping for orders over x amount. I checked the tracking, it said my package should arrive on Saturday ( about 3 days after i ordered it, same as the first time) Saturday rolls around and nothing, I look up the tracking again and it says its delayed/at post office? I contact the aquarium place and that is when they inform me that they used UPS sure post to ship now and my package is just at the post office, and I can go pick it up? I call my post office they don't have it, i call the other local post office they don't have it? Now I have a nearly 200$ package just out there somewhere, no one knows where. I contact the aquarium store again, they say they will help me first thing monday. Monday rolls around, all i have is an email from the aquarium company saying the local post office ( they don't know which one) has my package. I call both post offices again and UPS and no one has it and both post offices say it was sent back to the shipper.; o/? So now i contact the aquarium company and I'm mad, I tell them they need to find my package not me and i', very unhappy with their poor customer service. Then Devon says this,( Plain and simple, the package is at your local post office. Someone could go get it now. I'd call office and schedule a pick up.) They don't have a clue where my package is and they don't care. I will never do business with them again! But they swear up and down that they are giving me good customer service...

I ordered a plant light from them like 11 days before Christmas as a last minute request, and it was shipped without the city in the address (PayPal error not theirs). For any other business: By the time it was to be sent back out it would have been at least 3 days past Christmas. For them: I contacted them and let them know what had happened. They were on it and got it resent to me with plenty of time to spare. You don't find a lot of business' willing to work harder for you after you've made a purchase, these guys do. I'd recommend this company to anyone asking for aquarium products.

I first found AAP while researching how to start my first aquarium(I'm up to 10 now). I was blown away by the in depth nature of all the information the site has to offer. Not only do they tell you which products are the best but they tell you why with actual information and test results. I have noticed the prices of their products go up but I assume that the savings on the products has moved to the offering of free shipping.
Do yourself a favor and forget everything you think you know about aquarium keeping and re-educate with AAP.

I recently bought a couple flters and misc items, I made a mistake and ordered the incorrect replacements for two of the filters. The Service department dropped me a quick note with in 2 hours verifying this is what I wanted and they promptly updated the order with the correct item and then within 24 hours all the information related to shipping. I have ordered a lot over the internet, but never had a company with suce fast responses and action. I know I will be making repeat purchases.

American Aquarium Products is a stand out company. They are a smaller company, but as far as aquarium products and information goes, they have some of the best. The nice thing about this company is that they only sell what they have had personal success with over like 40 years of being in business. They sell what they knows works and they back up everything with experiences and science.
Oh the information. Everything you need to know in a one stop location and all by professionals who know what they are doing. This are in this business to make money, so they pride them self on what they know. Without, there company would be just like everyone else.
They are on top of the latest trends and have staff to help with anything I need. The education you receive from this site is crazy! Weekends and nights, they always have someone to help. Shipping is quick and every time I've ordered something it has gone out right away. I would highly recommend this site over other popular stores on the internet. If you dig deep enough, you will see that many companies are tailing American Aquarium Products because of the bar they set.
Loyal customer for life!

As a professional aquarium service person, I can tell readers that this IS the place to go for information that is science/experience based and ACCURATE!

The products they sell are fairly priced and reflect what their research recommends

Since I also purchase products online here for my service, I can state that their checkout is simple and no different than the Paypal one used in ebay where I have also purchased products

When I started out in this hobby, I knew almost next to nothing about keeping fish, bettas in particular. I relied on LFS as well as on-line forum advices and found them to be somewhat helpful as many tend to be the one-size-fits-all rigid "do's and don't" while each tank has its own unique situation.

To the rescue, American Aquarium Products has a plethora of in-depth articles dealing with so many topics from basic aquarium care to complex aquarium chemistry to diseases and treatments for both freshwater and marine fish. Because of this wealth of knowledge backed by both science and extensive experience, I quickly gain confidence, and most importantly, greatly lessen stressing out my fish.

I also appreciate the handy listing, via hyper links, of useful products related to each topic. As my knowledge and experience grow, I also discover that American Aquarium Products limits itself to selling only reputable brands, even only proven products within those brands (i. E. SeaChem, API, RENA, TMC, ATI, Hikari, etc.)

Pricing wise, I find American Aquarium Products to be competitive in cost, and now with free-shipping on sale above $49, it behooves me to go elsewhere first, especially when here is a company with integrity and a true friend to aquarium hobbyists.

This was a mix up between UPS and USPS. After speaking with the Oregon State Post Master, the issue was with the local post office and them NOT following OR shipping rules. The local post office was suppose to work on getting in contact with us as the sender or the seller.

This customer asked us our shipping policy and made an order with no problem. The shipping policy changed in between her first and second purchase. This was clearly marked all over our site and even during the check out process of the second order made.

From the first email we received from this customer, it had an angry, upset tone. She was upset before letting us trying to fix the problem. This was over a weekend at that. The first thing Monday morning. We had two employees and the owner of the company working on the problem. The emails from the customer only degraded more as we were trying to keep the customer updated.

This issue has not even been resolved and the customer has already made rude treating emails to us. She's set to say we have provided poor customer service, even when we worked on the weekend, and have 3 staff members working on the problem first thing Monday morning. The email communication clearly shows one side of this sale worked up, while the other is just trying to help. Even this poor review and everywhere else she's making poor reviews at out of anger shows how hard it is to help, when all really trying to do is help.

Here are the first emails starting the conversation about the missing package. It started on a Friday. We looked into it right away and send to our rep right away.

"Hello,

Just to let you know, we received an exception for this package, stating it was not delivered. We are unsure of the cause, but know we've had the best success figuring out these issues, when the customer contracts their local UPS/USPS offices. I would recommend giving them a call if you would like your package today. They will attempt to deliver three times, before having it come back to us."

Customers first email-
"I can't find my package; o/ I called both ups and usps and no one can help me. I'm pissed! I specifically asked how you ship to avoid this BS and was told UPS not UPS surepost. Now I have no package and no idea where it is, i'm so pissed right now I can not even find the words. I am very disappointed "

The customers emails only got worse, even though we had been working on the issue.

If you are a casual aquarist like me, then you know that it can be difficult to figure out what is best for your fish. I don't have years of experience to draw from and when it comes to keeping fish there is so much contradicting (even false) information out there that it becomes difficult to sift through it all and find the answers that you need.

The first thing I noticed about this company is the excellent information they have on their site. I was looking for something to treat my betta's fin rot, but other sites all offer medications without actually telling you which one would be most effective for what you are treating or *why* it would be more effective. Have you ever noticed when looking at the diagnostic charts on the back of popular fish medications that they all seem to say/treat the same thing? How are you supposed to know what the difference is between them and which one to choose? It can turn into a very costly exercise trying one medication after another until you find the right one. Not to mention how stressful it is for your fish.

Wanting to be sure that I was picking the correct medication this time, I joined their online forum at http://everythingaquatic.proboards.com and posted my question, describing my betta's symptoms. Amongst others, I got a response from the owner, Carl, who took the time to answer my questions in great detail and helped me to make an informed decision. He was very helpful and knowledgeable and not only assisted me by providing the information that I needed to choose the right treatment, but also helped me to understand what might have caused the problem in the first place.

I ended up purchasing several product from their site. The service was good and shipping fast. I had absolutely no problems with my transactions.

They do a great job at American Aquarium Products and I highly recommend this company to anyone who is looking to buy aquarium products online. I'll definitely be a returning customer!

Tip for consumers:
The shopping cart experience might be a little different to what you are used to. They use drop down boxes to choose products instead of sending it directly to your shopping cart with one click, but once you get used to it, it is very easy to use. Just pay attention to what you are actually adding to your cart.

A have ordered supplies for my goldfish least a dozen times from AAP over the years, The customer service is excellent and I find to be an extremely trustworthy company! I have never had a late or missing order and it typically arrives in 3-5 days even when I select the slowest shipping method (ground shipping and also taking into account that I live across the country from American Aquarium Product's location). The prices are very good and they sell a spirulina fish food fish adore (and it's good for them!) that I cannot find except at a specialty fish store quite a ways from where I live. A couple times, I have needed fish medications to arrive faster because I had a sick fish that could possibly die if the medicine it needed didn't arrive for several days. I put a note in my order explaining this and was pleasantly surprised (and relieved) to that I got my shipment in only 2 days!

There are also a ton of well-cited articles on fish disease identification, what medications to use, aquarium equipment, the chemistry behind the breakdown of wastes in the aquarium, etc. When my fish have been sick or I have got new fish and have questions, these articles have been EXTREMELY helpful! They appear highly credible and AAP is very focused on educating fishkeepers on proper fish care, not just making a profit! In today's day and age, this is incredibly refreshing!

The products and information from American Aquarium Products (I feel) have saved my fish on quite a few occasions. My 4 goldfish (Salyme, Wickren, Kona, and Hansel) are about 9 years old now. I honestly doubt any of them would have lasted this long if I hadn't found AAP's website! I have no complaints! :)
