I originally ordered blinds in a ruby color. After a month long delay I inquired about the delay. I was informed they were out of stock and it could be another month. I cancelled it and switched to another color which arrived in a timely manner and look fine. I was disappointed I was not informed of the delay until I was the one who had to make the inquiry. You should be more proactive in letting your customer know what is happening. I am otherwise very satisfied with blinds I have now received.
I paid for blinds 21/2 months ago. I still no idea when they will be here. Tracking shows Fed Ex has not received the product, only a label. Finally got through to a person, who admitted that the "American blinds" were order in China and they must still be on a boat. I have no idea when the will ever come. Maybe next year?

I ordered Hunter Douglas duettes for a 4100 sq ft home 17 years ago from American Blinds and now that I am replacing some of them because I had such a great experience with them. This time I ordered Roman shades for 5 windows and 2 doors. I loved the fabrics that I chose, even though I did not have time to order swatches so that was not the problem. I am unhappy that they trimmed the shades down 3/8" from the size of the windows as now they look too small on my windows. On the French doors, the header is so deep that the blinds stand off my windows, thus defeating the purpose of paying extra for room darkening shades. When I contacted them to exercise their 100% guarantee promise, I was told it was my fault because I did not order swatches! I LOVED the fabric, it was the fit that I was not pleased with. When I placed the order, the sales person ASSURED me that if I didn't like the shades, they would replace them but that is such a lie! When I called, I was told I would have to purchase new blinds at whatever discount promotion they were currently offering. The only "guarantee" from American Blinds is that they lie and they falsely advertise satisfaction guaranteed! I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM AMERICAN BLINDS AGAIN and highly recommend that others avoid them!

I'm a single mom, I bought a house, and then I lost my job. We need blinds. First off, I'd like to say that the sales rep. I talked to on the phone was very nice. We spoke many times before I put in my order. In our first phone call, and in every single one after that I explained that I needed 1 in blinds. I had bought 2 in before from a different company and they were too big. I also told him, in every call, that I would like to stay under $500 but would pay more for what I needed. In the last couple of phone calls he kept telling me that they had special 2 in blinds that would work, and would be better, than the 1 in I requested because they had a smaller bracket and were cheaper. Even still, I said I wanted the 1 in. In the last call, he talked me into the 2 in saying they were better. Not knowing anything about blinds, I caved. They got here and would not fit at all! They are way too big! Why wouldn't he just let me get the 1 in I asked for in every phone call!? You can screw half of the bracket with 3/4 in, but the blinds are too heavy for that and rip out of the wood! They were not explained correctly at all. Then I call and want to exchange the blinds for the correct ones I had asked for and I ask them to listen to every call so they knew that I hadn't made a mistake and was not lying about what was said. They agreed. Then I sent the woman an email, explaining in detail all the things that were said and she turns around and reiterated the exact things I said in my email to her as to why she would not fix the issue! What on earth!? Then she says you can use half of the bracket if that's all that will fit, but it's too heavy to stay in the wall! If you only needed half of the bracket, then why in the world are the brackets double the size rather than just the 3/4? Please explain that. Then they want me to buy new blinds for the same deal, but I have not started working yet and cannot afford to start all over and but new blinds when all I asked for were the correct blinds. I didn't even ask for a refund. Just send the right blinds.
Tip for consumers:
Don't let them tell you what you need. They could be wrong, and you could be screwed.
