Anywhere Fireplaces

Imagine a company that would not allow you to exchange -- for a higher priced item, at that -- a gift you had received BECAUSE YOU HAD OPENED THE SHIPPING CARTON. I'm not talking about the product box, I'm talking about the BROWN SHIPPING BOX. Well folks, Anywhere Fireplaces may be the one establishment on the face of this earth that operates that way. I was thrilled to receive the Anywhere Fireplace my relative sent to me for Christmas. But on taking the product box out of the shipping carton, I saw the color would not fit my decor. I called the company -- and spoke with AN OWNER OF THE COMPANY -- and first asked if I could paint the unit with the color of my choice. She recommended against that, as "no one had ever done that, and she didn't know if it would work or not." Then, when I asked the best and most streamlined way for me to exchange the gift for another more expensive unit, while ensuring the person who sent me the gift wasn't charged the additional amount, the owner stated I could not exchange it because I had already opened the shipping carton. "We can't re-use that box. How would you like to receive a box that had clearly already been opened by someone else?" Um... what? This company refuses to spend an additional, say 10 cents, to use a new box? Folks, this is NOT a company you want to do business with. Stay away!
