Tested positive for covid 3 days before our Alaska cruise/tour so had to call Princess and cancel. Went to urgent care and received printed verification that I had covid. Filed a claim. Started reading AON reviews and started to get scared--really thought that I wouldn't get anything. Checked the website several times a day and it always said claim in progress/being reviewed. Was starting to panic because when I called they just said the same thing that the website said--"in progress". Received an email 43 days after the claim that said that checks would be written in 2 days and sent to my address. Received the checks 3 days after they were written and deposited them. It has been 3 days since the deposit and they haven't bounced yet. The claim was for over $15,000. In reading about other travel insurance companies it sounds like everything is done online and nobody ever calls the client and tells them how the claim is coming or asks any questions. Also, i think that AON is probably understaffed and there are way more claims than they can handle in a timely manner. I am getting quotes from other travel insurance carriers for our next cruise and it looks like their price is competitive. We will use them again.
I sent in my receipts for lost luggage they won't pay. They said I have to get a letter from the airline. The airline said they don't do that. So basically AON wasn't planning on paying. They found a loophole. Bad business.do not use this insurance, waste of money they won't pay!

I purchased AON Travel Insurance for a cruise. While on the cruise, I got sick, so I went to the clinic on the ship and asked to see the doctor. Twice I was told that my respiratory infection was not serious enough for the doctor to see me. I was given medications. I saw my doctor immediately after arriving home.
AON has denied my claim as I didn't see a doctor for my medications.

I missed a cruise July 16,2022 because our Southwest flight was delayed 6 hours due to mechanical failure. In processing the claim with Aon I was informed that they only cover delays due to inclement weather. I admit, I failed to read the fine print but this travel insurance was purchased through Carnival cruise line via the travel agent. Do not trust insurance through cruise lines unless you read the fine print first. GET YOUR OWN TRAVEL INSURANCE. After research, I discovered Generali insurance covers carrier delay due to mechanical failure.

Have you ever read their lengthy advertisement on how weddings get cancelled all the time and you should buy cancellation insurance for your trip in case this happens to you? Well, it happened to me. I filed a claim. It was denied. They claimed that there is no such advertisement. Be careful. Just use a company with more than 1 star reviews.
Tip for consumers:
Don’t use them for trip cancellation. They won’t pay!
Aon Travel Protection is sold by travel agents to travelers like me. Aon is the broker and places the insurance with Nationwide. Both companies are well established insurance entities. I bought travel insurance with the expectation that I would be protected if anything went wrong, and it did. My wife fell and broke her foot/ankle in Egypt and I submitted the necessary claim documents in March and now, 9 months later I'm still waiting for a resolution of my claim. Aon has not requested any additional information. Each time I call or email the reply is "we're still processing your claim". Aon and Nationwide are two of the largest insurance entities in the world so it's hard to believe this travel insurance program is so mismanaged. My complaint is just one of many such comments easily found on the internet. I will continue to request a status of my claim, but wonder if it will ever be paid.
Tip for consumers:
We buy insurance and hope we never need it. However, we have an expectation that if needed the company will pay a valid claim in a timely manner. This site helped me realize that there are others like me with a similar negative experience.

I was one of those people who naively believed that if Princess or Norwegian offer you travel insurance, that they are good for it. Nope. Only when something goes wrong do you find out that in fact they outsource their travel insurance, and the company (who conveniently is not the cruise line) gets almost unanimously 1-star reviews. Not only is Aon a scam, but the big cruise lines are in on the scam.

Aon travel has been processing my claim for 6 months. They don't seem to know what they are doing or care. There's no way to speak with an intelligent agent and their support staff are unskilled. It takes them weeks to mail or respond to the most simple requests. I will never use them again.

Filed claim over 2 months ago. When speaking with customer service I am told there is no way for me to contact the claims department and no other supervisor CEO, President that I may complain to. Princess Cruises please do not use this company. Will I ever get my claim reviewed and refunded my out-of-pocket expenses.
My cruise was scheduled for Jan. 02,2023, cancelled the cruse on September 08,2022 and put in a claim on Sept.15,2022 sufficient notification time. Online states claim in progress. I called customer service 4 times and received the same answer," We have numerous claims, and you will receive an email when your claim is complete in about 30 days. Here it is Nov.17,2022 and no email or correspondence from AON. All the customer service representatives do is read their response off a card like robots. I feel we are out $328 from this company. Ask your cruise agent who the insurance company is before you purchase travel insurance. Stay away from AON.
We contracted with this company as Celebrity Cruises uses them as a direct referral. I have submitted all required documents and still no reimbursement. My claim was submitted in May. It is now November. I recommend travelers use any other company.
We purchased a Portugal tour through Trafalgar. This is the travel insurance that was placed through Trafalgar as a partner travel insurer. Our airlines cancelled flight on Christmas Eve and we were out extra nite stay we paid for our hotel. It's almost 3 months later, and they still indicate claim is pending due to increased volume. Very poor turnaround for a "clean minimal claim".
Aon travel has held my money for FIVE MONTHS. I booked a trip with A&K and they recommended this worthless company. $17,000 they are holding. My mother became I'll was hospitalized then needed to live with us. It has been a nightmare - no one can answer anything they just read same script and ask for 39 more days. No one helps. It has been 5 months and we have sent everything they asked for and we had a cancel for any reason claim filed on Sept 1,2022.
Don't deal with this company. We planned a cruise for us and our two sons' families. We purchased travel insurance through AON. One daughter-in-law became pregnant after booking and ended up with some health issues and concerns. Not a "normal" pregnancy. They declined our claim. Waste of our money and time. We are done with Royal Caribbean as well for associating themselves with AON. Other options available.

Cancelled a cruise and now two months later still awaiting my refund for the insurance penalty that carnival had to charge me. Carnival gave me my money back within a week but yet 2 months out now and AON still is dragging their feet. They need to worry more about their customers satisfaction! Got an email today after these two months saying the progress states now it could be up to 5 more weeks for my refund? Unacceptable time lag. Customer service is the worse
This travel insurance company does not legitimately pay for claims that should be paid for according to their rules and regulations. And takes weekly calls to them for 6 months to receive a different answer every time you call. I am not sure why the cruise companies would deal with this unprofessional and ridiculous company. This is a total waste of your money to purchase. If you need to file a claim beware they do not pay even though there is no reason for them not to pay. It is a scam.
Horrible customer service. Never call, never lets you speak with an appraiser, hasn't paid a claim or even called me in 2 months, even though I have gone through princess, and called them myself, the only answer I get is that my claim is under review. Not one call back, from them or a text, or email, absolutely nothing. I rate them zero not even one star, NO stars to this company.
Tip for consumers:
Don't do business with this company.

As I was speaking to an outsourced AON supervisor today to inquire about the status of my claim from 8 months ago, I heard a rooster continuously crowing in the background! She could not give me an answer as to why I have not been reimbursed other than they had many other claims and to give them another 30 days! It seemed she was reading from a script! Unacceptable!
AON advertises that it will review your case and provide satisfaction within 5 business days. I have been waiting for over 2 months and still no satisfaction. They just say that it is being reviewed. They will not let you speak to a supervisor. I am extremely dissatisfied. I got this as it is the insurance through the cruise line. I hope the cruise company will change providers.
Tip for consumers:
Don’t file AON insurance. Call the cruise line and reschedule your trip. They seem to do you right.

I bought cruise insurance with AON. I cannot get a refund or any information other than “it is being reviewed”.
I had a cancellation because of medical reasons for a family friend for whom I booked and paid for the ticket along with my family. We purchased travel protection from AON Affinity via Disney cruise ship. My friend submitted the medical certificate and all of the required documents for processing the claim. They rejected the claim just putting one line reason "There is no cancellation penalty was applied to your booking". I paid the full ticket price and they didn't refund me the ticket price. Don't take travel protection plan from this company which is partnered with most of the cruise ships. Get an outside insurance.

I tested positive for covid. My cousin, her husband, and my husband could not go on the cruise. My cousin from Boston was staying in FL with me. My cousin had to fight AON for a refund. Carnival gave her deposit back within the week.
AON said maybe a credit, after 3 hours on the phone. I'm still waiting after 60 days. I will never use AON again.

Terrible customer service and timeliness. It took AON almost six months just to review my claim. When they finally did review my claim, they required that I resubmit all the previously submitted receipts. I did not get any response until I filed a complaint with my state Insurance Commission. I finally received partial payment after more than half a year later. Would never use them again. The only reason I used them is that they are the insurance company Tauck Tours uses.

We put in a claim because my husband has Leukemia, his WBC went above 100 and it was unsafe for him to take a cruise. After 3 months of waiting for the claim they sent me an email that were please to advise us that they will be sending us $50. The cost of the reimbursement for the cruise was $1,600.
In order to file a claim, I uploaded all of the documents AON requested on April 13. Their website says allow up to 21 business days. It has now been 68 business days. I have called seven times. The customer service rep always reads from the same script. A manager is never readily available. I have been promised call backs, but have only received one. That call was from "Zelma" in claims on July 15. She said all of the material required to settle the claim has been received. She said settlement would be "soon". One week later, no notice from AON. I called again and received the same old recitation of the "I am sorry" script. Again, no manager available.
Tip for consumers:
Avoid at all costs.

I purchased travel protection insurance for a cruise. I had a death in the family the day I embarked and immediately got of the ship. I filed my claim with AON for myself and my daughter on the same day and provided the death certificate and all the other documents requested. I am still waiting on my claim to be completed whereas my daughters is complete and she received a refund of $500 which I was told they only cover the penalties that are not refunded by Carnival. For my daughter to have received something from them and yet mine is still being processed is beyond crazy. $500 from a $1800 cruise, this insurance is not worth purchasing and the process is slow!
