I use my government phone for mostly medical emergencies. I am disabled and live alone and since I'm on SSDI I can not afford to pay or maintain a phone myself. I had went a store to pick up food and after 5 minutes when I had left the store I realized I put my phone on the counter but when I went back someone had stolen it. I called Assurance Wireless to let them know that I needed a replacement because my phone was stolen. I was told that the only way to get a replacement is if I filed a police report. Since my police station is not open to the public because of COVID I would have to file over the phone and I was told by my Police Department it could take up to one month to get the report plus I would have to pay for it. When I told Assurance Wireless this they told me they would need the police report within 7 days, there's no way that is possible I told them. They then told me I would have to pay $65 then for a replacement GOVERNMENT phone. I am outraged! I cannot afford that being on disability. I have $0.30 left over in a month after I get paid and pay all my bills. These people do not have any compassion whatsoever. Now if I have a medical emergency I will not be able to call 911. This company should be ashamed of themselves!
Slowest and most mediocre phone ever used, throw away if owned. Don't consider getting even if it is free online.
I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO BUY!
I RETURNED AN ITEM HAD TO PAY FOR OWN RETURN SHIPPING AND THEY CHARGED ME 20% RESTOCKING FEE! WHICH NOONE CHARGES!
My old phone stop taking a charge and I just recieved in the mail an Assurance Wireless letter saying I was eligible for a new phone. That was three weeks ago and still no phone! I talked to their NO CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE three times since then! Still no phone! I'm elderly and have health problems! I need a phone for that reason alone! I have things for sale and no one can contact me! I can't talk with anyone at all! A telephone is an essential part of daily life, except when you are with Assurance Wireless! The only ASSURNACE YOU WILL GET FROM ASSURANCE WIRELESS IS, " NO CUSTOMER SERVICE" at least expecialy when you need it! If I looked at their companies rating of nearly nothing, i would never selected Assurance Wireless at all! You would think that since their rating is so low that they would do soemthing about it! They just don't give a rat's $#*! about their customers!
So I see a different company to try for free service at least it's a Android not a $0.99 candy bar phone like another company that never had service so I lost my account because I couldn't use it? This company is no better! First they make you create a bizzare 6 digit PIN that's impossible to remember with all the. Rules behind it! Then I get the phone and can't activate it because I can't can't remember the pin! I call them and the guy keeps asking for the pin after I told him a dozen times I don't know it! But he keeps going on and on about the pun until I finally had enough and asked how he got the job in customer service? And threw a few words of choice at him he didn't seem to notice? Then he tells me my phone isn't active and that's why I can't access the account and I he needs the pin? That was it I smashed the phone right next to the phone I was calling him from and told him I smashed the phone and to F Off I hung up and he called Back? Hmmmmmm I asked him doesn't he know what F Off means? That's was the end of Assurance never again I will just struggle to pay for my Google Fi service on my little disability check! Not worth the Migraine!
I chose Assurance because it's the only option in my state, you get a thin and very lightweight T-mobile phone. Not sure why we can't just use our existing cell phones and phone numbers for Lifeline, because the phone comes with a lot of robocalls, spam and phishing texts and it appears to be a preowned phone number, so I get creditors calling it everyday. There's no way to block them, you can only silence it. After a couple days you're weeding through all the spam texts and calls just to see any legitimate ones.
After experiencing that the first week I did some research and found that Assurance phones have a reputation of distributing phones with installed and unremoveable malwarebytes as well. I do my banking and keep my bankcards stored on my devices. I also use business apps that contain sensitive information. There's no way I'm doing any business on this phone, which makes the phone useless except for making personal calls and even that has to be censored. I don't even feel comfortable connecting the phone to my home network, so at 4.5 gigs a month the phone sits in airplane mode.
Call me paranoid, but when you're poor and life is hanging on a thin line here then it's just not worth it, a real gamble with security. If you can manage a $15 a month phone plan with Mint, go for it -- I do not work for Mint. If you can't do that and desperately need a phone, then just be really careful and godspeed
Some needs to be done with scams like this one, but never will be... So sad... They make money off the government and you're left out... Sad...
THIS PLACE CALLED MAGNIFYDE WORKING FOR ASSURANCE WIRELESS IS A SCAM! Do not even consider working here, i know it all sounds great but its all a lie. Youre offered 0 gas money, youre offered NO LUNCH, and if you dont sell 6 phones a day you DO NOT GET PAYED. Youre asked to drive to these ridiculous and dangerous locations all to be out in the sun for 10+ hours. YOUR MONEY IS NOT GUARANTEED. You arent getting payed hourly and there IS NO PAYED TRAINING. Youll probably be trained by a boy named renato he is also part of this pyramid scheme. Xavier otero makes you feel all so important in the beginning but that is all because he wants you to sell phones in order for him to make money. Your base pay A DAY IS $85. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS PYRAMID SCHEME!
The device is a joke, it's not worth it, 3rd time I get a device from assurance and it is pretty crappie and they wNt to charge 20 bucks for delivery fee
The phones are pieces of junk.
Customer service hangs up on you.
You can go months without phone service due to those two issues.
I did.
