I needed to replace the cheap 12 year old gauges that were denigrating from the heat and spent $260 on a set of Z series mechanical gauges thinking I would get a high quality made in America product,WRONG. The volt gauge reads high and the temperature gauge "hangs at 130 degrees during warm up until 160,,it took 8 yeas for the cheap gauge to do the same thing. Customer service is a joke. The claim the sensor line is kinked yet it worked for 4 months before working. Warranty? What joke.
Don't waste your time emailing them for support. You will get nothing. No help at all.
I only asked for a diagram of their recommended way to connect the gauge and each reply I got was "labeled above the terminals" Really, Oh gee I didn't see the labels above the terminals. What a crap reply. I just want their recommendation on the wiring maybe send me a PDF. I GOT NOTHING. One last try I asked. Can you tell me! Do I connect all the terminals or just the ones I feel that is needed? REPLY: The pinout for the gauge is embossed on the backside of the unit. I am only asking something REALLY simple and get short BS replies. This is where I gave up. I have you try finding my answer online from others who have installed the same unit. Hopeless.
First they won't tell me through fb messenger how to calibrate my mph for my autometer, then they won't return my voicemail about how to do it either. I'm glad I didn't pay for it and it came in a car I bought. Finally, they've told me and it doesn't help because I cannot remove the meter. They should have designed it where there was an easier place to access the calibration button but nope. I would expect a lot better from famous autometer.
Have a 1971 Ford F250, with a stroker motor. Sent the engine out to be rebuilt. Installed a 1970 Lincoln 460 bb. Needed a adaptor fitting to hook up the Autometer mechanical temperature gauge. Ordered it, and it came in a timely manner, and a fair price.
