The recent site update makes logging into my account a lot easier and quicker. However I still feel like they should have have an option to keep the old login style or switch to the new one. Once logged into the site, everything is well organized and you are able to access many of their tools to help you save, budget, and manage your money.
Review for Bank of America: I have been a loyal Bank of America customer for over 10 years, consistently making payments on time. Recently, while traveling abroad, I missed a payment of around $10 because I didn't have regular access to my online account. To my shock, BofA closed my credit line without any prior notice via email. I discovered this only when I tried to purchase a ticket. Despite attempting to resolve the issue through the mobile app and calling international support, I received no assistance. The customer service was unhelpful and informed me that they could not reopen my credit line. To make matters worse, I am currently under a medical situation and desperately need access to my credit card, which is now closed. This experience has left me extremely disappointed and frustrated with BofA's lack of support and communication.
We've had Bank of America credit card for 20 years. We pay our monthly bill on time every month and we spend an average of $5000 a month on the card. We get our bills via email and somehow did not get the September bill. We got August and paid it on time and we got October and were about to pay it when all of a sudden all of my auto pays that I use my Bank of America card for started coming back rejected. So I immediately called and waited an hour to get a representative and then explained the situation. I asked her to look at my account because in 20 years I have never been late and I spend a lot of money with the company. The representative was very nice and waived the late fee and the interest charges, then she told me that as of Monday, since it was Saturday, with the credits that she's putting on the account, the freeze on our card would be lifted. I in turn told her that I was immediately paying the bill via the method I use every month, which is our online banking. Monday came and went and everything was still being rejected. Tuesday at 12 PM I called yet again and wait about 35 minutes to get a representative who tells me they can see that they received my payment but it just hasn't processed yet. No apology, no caring, no understanding of how I'm being treated when for some reason there was a mistake with my email bill. In fact, I checked the spam folder my deleted folder in case I accidentally deleted it but couldn't find it anywhere. Bank of America did not want to take any accountability and treated me like any other person that would potentially be defaulting on their bill and then didn't do what they said they would do by having the freeze lifted on Monday. Not acceptable, incredibly poor service, and I will be looking to take my $5000 a month elsewhere. Hope it was worth just following your rules and not understanding the situation and alienating a very good customer.
This Bank does not care about fraud or customer service. They had my checking account under investigation for over a month. They Credit me back my money from the unauthorized transactions. They never send me a notice or email stating that my case was considered not fraud and closed my case. They took my money that was in my bank and now I'm in the negative for unauthorized transactions that they said was reacurting, that's why they decided to close my case. I DO NOT recommend this bank to ANYONE. This bank is okay with fraud once they feel like there is no fraud. They will close the case. I have unauthorized transactions that I'm paying for. I have people buying thing with my account and getting away with it because Bank of Americans fraud invesigators said it's reacurring then it's not fraud! Reacurring unauthorized transactions that's okay for Bank of American. They will let the fraud get away and us people that work for our money is suffering for fraud. They are suppose to help protect our money instead it's like they are calling me a liar and it's okay for me to pay for unauthorized transactions that's wasn't not made by me. I'm very upset and this Bank has set me in a financial bind now thanks to their horrible fraud system.
The arrogance and incompetence is off the charts here. After my issue is resolved, I will not be using this credit card or bank anymore.
Their online system for filing a credit card dispute is ridiculous. You can't simply type out your complaint and send your supporting documents. Instead, you have to use very limited checkboxes and explain the problem in only 150 characters (that is characters, not words). There is no way to include any supporting documentation.
So I called but after a long wait, the representative had only the same system to work with herself. I called two more times over the next few days because no details showed up and I had no idea what was going on.
Lots more waiting and being passed around. I had to repeat the same thing over and over and got the same result, which was- not much. Now must wait up to a MONTH for the credit card company to respond to BOA before I can give any more details about my case, assuming I am even given that chance at last. I also can not contact the credit card company (Visa) directly instead, I'm told. Was told I'd have to mail or fax supporting documentation, if they ever deigned to request it. Because, you know, it is 1972, after all... It's all just too nonsensical and exhausting, especially when it's on top of dealing with another ridiculous company already.
This is especially nasty since the original issue is that Costco.com delivered a shattered TV and repeatedly refuses to pick it up (going on 3 weeks now). They say they will come out repeatedly but never do and refuse to give me a time or date. They are holding my money in the meantime and say I will only get three chances for pickup. So for three entire weeks, we've had to had one of us get up and dressed early in case they deign to knock on the door, can't both go out alone if we need to leave the house, etc. We are sort of being held hostage and now we can expect 30 more days of this because our bank is just as arrogant and incompetent as Costco.
Bottom line, they really do all they can to encourage you to just go away. So I guess I will!
Tip for consumers:
I'd just avoid them. Who needs it.
On May 6th, I received an email that appeared to come from BofA with the subject line "Security Alert: Your Online Banking Password Was Reset". However, I was able to go online and get into my account, which suggested that this was a fraudulent email. Still I called BofA and spoke to someone about it. They suggested I forward the email to *******@bofa.com. That was the last I heard of this until two days later after $27,200 had been stolen from my account. First, someone transferred $7200 from my credit card cash advance line to my checking account. Then, someone went to the branch in Temple TX (my account address is in MA) and was able to take $9400 and $8400 from a teller in two transactions that day. The following day, they went to a branch in Webb Chapel TX and took another $9400. What I later learned was that someone had created a second username and password and linked it to my account, WHICH IS NOT THE SAME AS SOMEONE RESETTING MY PASSWORD! Nothing has happened with the fraud claim other than for the credit card division to deny the $7200 claim since the transfer had gone into my checking account. Therefore, that $7200 is back on my card and is accruing interest! When I tried to speak to a fraud inspector about this, I was told I could not, after which Xavier from TX hung up on me. Has anyone else experience this Password reset email when it was actually a new username and password added to the account?
We began having an issue back in July because it seemed, all of a sudden, BOA forgot how to bank. We have been sending in additional principal, for years now and all of a sudden, it wasn't being applied to principal so the interest was being calculated incorrectly. After multiple attempts over multiple months, our books are still off by $2.90. Then randomly, due to a "processing error" they applied our extra payment to deferred interest. This made things way more screwed up, and in waiting for the answer to what was wrong and the corrected invoice, our payment went into the grace period, therefore causing the next invoice to be more incorrect than usual. Also, since the additional principal was not applied, the following month's interest was incorrect. So rather than risking the payment miss application to the next month's invoice again, I mailed our regular payment with the incorrect invoice. I asked for a corrected statement to be emailed, so HOPEFULLY, this issue would be corrected before January. That was much to optimistic of me. Now, the principal and interest are incorrect again. It really seems no one over there understands the issue, how to correct it, or the frustration on our end, nor do they care. We are a small business, and they are supposed to be the experts. From what I am being told, it doesn't seem that they understand basic math, much less something as complex as a loan.
Every month, I am spending hours dealing with this loan and that is unacceptable. I have been told the only people (in some "back office") who can ostensibly take care of this issue, "don't speak to clients". This is not only condescending, but a ridiculous rule, considering the same mistake continues to be made over and over.
If you can avoid using Bank of America, do it!
I have been a customer for 17 years and they put a hold on my check after running it through and telling me there would be no hold.
Tip for consumers:
I have to have a procedure done Tuesday and don’t have enough money for my prescription medicine for the tests.
We have been BOA customers for years with little to no problems. We always go to the smaller branch office near our home and know the tellers and personal bankers and they recognize us. We are also good customers -- we don't bounce checks, don't miss cc payments, don't demand unrealistic perks, come informed and prepared for discussions. We also have concentrated our accounts (and let them know it) so we don't pay a single dollar in fees.
Regarding the website -- I am very, very pleased with the online transfer and bill pay features. The bill pay is by far the best feature of the website, imho, as you can select a larger-well known company and have all the mailing info provided or you can enter your own pay-to person/company. We have never had a payment go missing or late and they guarantee the payments -- if something happens on their end that causes a late payment, they will cover any penalty fees.
Been using online bill pay for_years_ and have not found a better or more comprehensive bill paying service. Though I do recommend keeping all tracking numbers, we have never had a problem.
Check out all the banks and find what fits your needs. We personally recommend Bank of America.
[Just a quick story about knowing the tellers and them recognizing us -- my kids were collecting state quarters for a 50-state quarter map and I mentioned to the teller that we were missing 7 of the 100 quarters. She wrote down the 7 missing ones, gave it to all the tellers, and they collected the quarters for us over the next 2 weeks! Asked me at the drive thru if I could come into the bank because they had a surprise for us! I took a picture of my kids with their completed maps and sent it as a thank you! It IS about customer service and our branch is amazing!]
Terrible, the payment process asks for auto payments and that's it. No other options. Can I just make a payment on a loan?
Extremely infuriated by the incompetence and lack of customer consideration of one, Anthony D Wilson, Financial Center Manager at the 1450 Western Ave branch Albany NY.
I went in with CORRECT commit number to have insurance check endorsed at the branch. Anthony D Wilson wrote ONE of the 8 digit of that commit number wrong and took himself off into wild goose chase for next 45min.
When everything was done, I asked him what took so long? And he answered "YOU gave me A WRONG commit number", in very condescending tone.
I asked him what the correct number was, and he showed me the EXACT NUMBER I came in with, which I gave him verbally as well as visually.
When Anthony realized that He made a mistake from the beginning, all he said was "oh, it's on me" and that was it.
NO APOLOGIES. And he just walked a way. When I started to complain that I got stuck in the branch for 45 min. On the business that should have taken less than 5 min, BECAUSE of Anthony's mistake, he tried to make me go out the building by saying "your complaining will be another 5 min" in VERY confrontational attitude.
NOT HAPPY.
This app allows me to do almost everything I need to do while banking. While you can' t deposit checks via yet, maybe that will come sometime soon
Have been a member for Many many years. Always on time payments on my Credit cards. I tried to request lower APRs on a few occassions and was shot down. I paid off my large credit card in full and it had zero balance and then I got slapped with $158 charge! Mind you I have always simply transferred money from my checking directly cards, and it posts immediately, BUT once I made full payment for the card, it suddenly did NOT post right away. Well it did! It showed zero balance, then went back up and then took a few days to show it posted (SHADY). Also, when I would transfer from BOA to my other bank where car loan payment is, it would always take only 24 hrs. NOW I went to transfer my remaining account balance out of BOA (because I spoke with agent and told them I'm not giving them my business anymore), and now suddenly it has a hold on my transfer and can take up to 5 business days! SO Shady! They do not do anything positive for their customers, they wouldn't credit that fee when I asked and I highly recommend if looking for a bank do not go HERE! LOW Apr offers on accounts, TERRIBLE Customer service (literally their rating is a 2.04!) and going down consistently. MOVE to a smaller, more personable bank that has better rates and service. I shouldn't have waited so long, I have been told by many I should have left a long time ago. Literally one of the top 5 WORST RATED Banks
Tip for consumers:
seriously! Bank somewhere else!!
I recently received a check for $3,000 dollars which I desperately needed to pay my bills. I deposited the check and the funds were held for 10 days. Now understand I never had a bad deposit and the check cleared my clients account within 48 hours. Because of the hold the bank bounced 8 payments that I made on time... well I thought on time. Bank of Ripoff America then charged me $35, eight times because of the hold of the check. Understand Bank of Ripoff America had the funds in there system but would not release them to me. I now have double fees from my billing companies and over $300 in fees from Bank of Ripoff America. I went to the bank. The Bank Manger Sonia told me to call the 800 number and she couldn't help me. She explained banking was risk and the check they secred the funds on was a rusk. I called the 800 number ran through that ridiculous treadmill, eventually talked to a supervisor and got ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE except they did say have a nice day at the end of the call. Bank of Rip Off America is only interested in fees on regular Americans trying to make ends meet. Shame on Bank of America!
I have been with Bank of America for over 25 years, I had paid off three car loans, and two mortgages without ever being late on a payment. I sell things online and occasionally I receive a bad check just like any business. Lately I received too close together I deposited them because that was the only way I knew to find out whether the check was good or not even though it might cost me $12. I thought that was the worst thing that could happen. I was suspicious of bothchecks so when I deposited them I never took any of the money, it appeared in my account because they were counter checks but I did not touch it. No harm no foul right? Not so with Bank of America. After the second one they froze all of my accounts, turned off my debit card, and locked me out of my online banking app. I was using bill pay and there was money I had deposited other than that to cover bills that I had scheduled. Bank of America credit card was one of them! They froze my money and the bills didn't get paid. I had to set up a new account and go through all the hassle of putting all of my contacts back in the bill pay and I didn't even know who they were because they still won't let me into my online banking. It's more hassle that sounds like. Anyways they had the money Frozen that was for the credit card bill and now they are charging me a $28 late fee because they had my money Frozen. It was some amorphous department that you can't talk to called closures that made the decision. No one ever called me back or spoke to me or explain why they treated me this way after 25 years! So if you think Bank of America is going to show you any loyalty in return for yours you are wrong! As soon as they decide you are no further use to them they will throw you under the bus like it was nothing, and never even explain why! The only reason I gave them one star is because this app makes you, it won't let you post a review until you give them a rating or I would have gone with zero Stars.
Tip for consumers:
How to give BOA zero stars. They don't deserve even one!
Ramon Miranda-jimenez was very friendly and professional, he knew exactly how to help me, and others.
Well first of all I get a promotional offer from AAA for a bank of America credit card, with a 0%apr offer on purchases for 15 billing cycles (as most banks offer when they're trying to get you to sign on) so I applied at AAA and instantly got approved. I get the card in the mail and pay off my heating bill and a couple others things to avoid any interest whatsoever. I pay a couple hundred on my first bill and when I got the second bill I see almost 6 dollars in interest fees. I tried contacting bank of America with the number on my card and on the bill and had no help at all, went to AAA and they said all they do is the application process and that I needed to go to bank of America to discuss the issue. So I do and I dealt with the most rude person imaginable at there office in Dewitt NY, she was no help at all but she did get someone on the phone who I had to speak to for about 30 minutes in their building trying to get this righted around, the guy called me back the next day and said it was all sorted out. I just got my third bill in the mail today and they messed something up, it shows the promotional offer which is great, but their still charging me almost 4 dollars in interest for some reason, now I have to deal with this process again. This is absolutely ridiculous, anyone I've talked to is very unorganized and not very knowledgeable at all. I've wasted so much time chasing them around. They are complete Crooks, if I was some old lady they could have really robbed me blind. I'm sure it will get sorted out but no one should have to deal with this kind of stress and nonsense. I went as far as to bring the promotional offer with me to the bank when I went in, I mean come on. Just watch out if you decide to bank with these people, keep your guard up.
I APPLIED BANK OF AMERICA VISA CREDIT CARD WITH $95 ANNUAL FEE AND THERE WAS 0% APR BALANCE TRANSFER PROMOTION FOR 18 MONTHS. AFTER RECEIVING THE CARD THEY CHARGED $95 FEE BUT DENIED THE BALANCE TRANSFER PROMOTION. AFTER SEVERAL CALLS AND TALKS WITH SUPERVISORS THEY ALLOWED THE PROMOTION. I AVAILED THE OFFER BY PAYING 3% FEE AND NOW THEY CLOSED THE ACCOUNT SAYING THAT MY CREDIT LIMIT OF THE ACCOUNT IS FULLY UTILISED. THEY ARE GIVING WRONG REASONS THAT MY PAYMENTS WERE RETURNED. I TALKED WITH SUPERVISOR REGARDING THE CLOSURE OF THE ACCOUNT SHE GAVE ME ALL IN VALID REASON AND SHE LAUGHED ON MY CONCERNS. SEVERAL TIMES MY ACCOUNT WAS NEGATIVE AND ONE TIME THEY USED MY NEGATIVE BALANCE OF $429.19 FOR WHOLE MONTH AND ISSUED A CHECK AFTER BEGGING OVER THE PHONE SEVERAL TIME. NOW I WILL HAVE TO BEG MY PRORATED ANNUAL FEE THEY HAVE CHARGED IN ADVANCE.ME AND MY FAMILY HAVE DECIDED TO PUT ANY BANK OF AMERICA PRODUCT ON BLACK LIST. THEY BELIEVE THAT THEY ARE NUMBER ONE BUT THEY DON'T KNOW ALL CUSTOMERS HAVE MADE THEM BIG. IT'S REALLY WORST COMPANY. EVEN IT TAKES EVER TO REACH AN AGENT OVER THE PHONE.
I called two months ago to let them know that a credit card payment was going to be late, the customer service representative said "no problem, you've paid on time the last several years ", so a few days go by after the payment was due, they added more fees than the actual payment, what a bunch of gypsies they are, they keep closing branches, the hold time to speak to a person is insane, the customer service reps in the physical location are of NO help, they dump as dirt, I'm wondering where they hire these bafons from, then as a customer you have to stand in line with non customers, they (BOA) could care less about a human being, im moving to Chase where I'll be treated right. Shame on you BOA.
UPDATE - closed ALL of my accounts, with these "gypsies bankers" even the manager at the branch walked me outside of the building, said I made the right decision, and that he had, had over 70 people in the last month close ALL of their accounts, and he would be leaving soon, and would be going to a local bank where he would be respected.

I have an issue with my saving manager Robert was so rude please give me a call back. I need my money
I am writing this review to help others know how many doesn't matter how many times you're sued find you repeatedly steal from consumers and you help identity thieves to do the same thing I turned it into the Federal reserve because they oversee your stinking thieving Bank now what I want from you is every warrior transfer you made that were fraudulent through my checking account and I have the statements that I have forwarded to the Federal reserve also that fat Identity thief that you helped wire transfer I want the name of the wire company I have the statements with the wire transfers you have me buried in the hole not only that but the three count accounts that she fraudulently opened in my name to get to a life policy that Fidelity had you close those accounts took the money and you purged it when you distinctly told me you were going to refund it like the $300,000 for the property loss on my home that foremost insurance company put your name on by mistake you'll be hearing from the Federal reserve very soon and the interest I am charging you it's going to be unbelievable because I'm entitled to damages ginormous damages against your bank and Linda m Webster the identity thief
I've been with BOA for 20 years and I can't take it no more, the fees are terrible and they fix your account to get over draft fees, IM DONE WITH BANK OF AMERICA! They are terrible!
I went into the Bank of America branch on Boylston street, Boston location and got a rude awakening of what discrimination feels like. While I was there, the check that I deposited got stuck in the ATM. I saw one of the employees assisting a Latin American woman (on the white side), so I waited for her to finish with the customer and explained my situation. Then I asked if she could assist me. She said in a nasty voice; that she didn't know how to use the machine and that I would have to contact someone outside the branch. Not at any point did she walk over to evaluate the problem. Instead, she continued to be dismissive and cold.
I explained to the employee that it might be something that she could help me with since the ATM was prompting me to go back and put in the amount, but I could not find where to enter the transaction amount. She proceeded to ignore me and move on to an Asian customer that had just walked through the door. Talk about passive-aggressive. At this point, I knew that she wanted me to feel inferior, so I decided to speak up for myself, explained that I had a check worth thousands stuck in the branch's ATM, and to either assist me or call a manager. Again she argued that she did not know how to use the machine, but I held my ground.
Finally, she came over, pressed a few buttons, and it turned out that she ‘did know' how to use the machine.
Frustrated by the employees lack of professionalism, I asked to speak with the her manager. That's when I learned that the woman discriminating against me was the branch manager. I left in disbelief. I felt like I was being pitted against the other two customers because, in her mind, I did not fit the demographics of that area. The message that I got; is that my business is not as valuable because I am black.
After experiencing this level of disrespect and unfairness from this branch location, I hope Bank of America does something about this systematic racism amongst its employees.
I'm sharing my story publicly because I hope people will start speaking up. And finally, I don't want anyone else to go through what I went through.
I should've read all of the reviews before I decided to open an account with Bank of America. After opening an account, because the banker that open the account told me to do so, I wrote myself a check for my old bank to transfer the funds that I had in my old bank to my new bank account. For some reason that they will not tell me, this check was labeled as fraudulent and Bank of America decided to go ahead and close my account without any sort of way to rectify this issue or keep the account from being closed. The only thing that they have to say to me is that the account is being close and there's nothing that they can do to reverse that decision, and that their system labeled the check as fraudulent and there is nothing to rectify that decision either. That check was NOT fraud as I wrote it to myself from my previous bank. It bounced because I wrote it for a specific amount and when it finally decided to pull, the account had only $20 less than what I had written it for. A bounced check suddenly counts as fraud? It suddenly requires you to close my account? Every one of my bills are due right now and they have nothing to tell me except that I have to wait for a check to come in the mail so I can receive MY money that I entrusted to this bank. DO NOT TRUST THEM. The policies are outrageous and the customer service is HORRIBLE. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU. My bills are going to be late and I very well could be put into debt because of this incompetent bank.
It should not take 16 days for B of A to reverse scam charges to an account when the crime was caught the day it happened..
Even One is one TOO MANY for this Institution. Deborah Monroe an employee over at ******* Moulton Parkway Laguna Hills, CA doesn't know her right hand from left and because she is new and was struggling over helping a customer at her station ( obviously not knowledgeable enough to do the business of a "relationship Banker" of all Positions/ titles they could give her)!
They couldn't be any more wrong for choosing an absolute Rude person for this job title. She's awesome in destroying customer relationships not building them.
This sour, rude woman with a bad attitude actually turned me away and ask me to come back some other time when I wanted to open a New bank account 10 days ago! I found her behavior unacceptable. I would not recommend this Branch to anyone, they should get her disciplined for treating the new customer in the way that she did. Only because they were short-handed she was turning me away around 11:30 a.m. Not even lunch time or close to closing time to be so quick to get rid of me!
What really bothers me is that the manager and another person were at the bank and she was speaking for them as well by saying they cannot help me today asking me to come back another time when my business was Urgent! That's totally unacceptable.
She was either prejudiced or
Simply stupid for doing this to a customer. I will not let go till she gets punished.
I should have just walked away and took my business elsewhere but it was urgent that I opened up an account right there and then and I have already invested 45 minutes of waiting time. I had a talk with her manager that day and he apologized for her and said he'll pass it along as he found her behavior unacceptable. I am leaving this rating on this site just in case he forgot to report her, she should be disciplined that's the least they can do. With so many qualified people looking for job it is a shame that such titles go to some undeserving people like that Deborah M. So, why not give a professional with a nice attitude a chance at the job that she is occupying so un-deservably? B of A needs to take a serious look into employees like her in order to prevent their image from being tarnished any further for poor customer service.
I am happy to give them this sincere review. I like this app. Great online banking! They are well trained professionals!
