I saw this shop pop up on my Facebook feed and thought the clothes selection was great and stylish with a favorable price point, so I was excited to do some wardrobe upgrade, especially now that I started to go back to work from COVID shut down. I purchased about $300 worth of clothes to get it all at once, since I had a feeling that this is coming from China or somewhere in Asia and will take a while to get it delivered.
I waited excitedly for two weeks, no updates on my shipping order status. I check my email, and in the spam flagged inbox, I get an email from the customer service saying that I had to reverify my shipping address. So I emailed them with my information and asked when I can expect to receive. A couple of days later, an email saying I had to reverify my address again since I purchased a lot. So I copy and paste what I already provided them in the email, frustrated at this point. They email back saying that some of the ordered items are out of stock and will take few days to replenish, and asked if I was okay if they send the items in stock. I respond asking which of the items are ready and which ones are out, but the response back from them was basically they are glad that I made a "large" purchase (only in the $300 range…) and unfortunately they cannot ship it to me until they get a copy of my passport or drivers license, a copy of my bank book and a copy of credit card I used to purchase. Look, If you plan to flag every customer who happens to purchase above a certain threshold, then state it clearly on your website or limit the purchase order! Asking to email without providing any encrypted link for all those personal information sounds super shady and invasion of data privacy! As a retail store, you need to anticipate some customers may want to splurge a bit if they thought your items were cute but oh well, you just lost a solid customer.
