ADT doesn't make the security equipment. They buy Simpli Safe equipment. The battery life is approximately 5yrs. Afterwards you'll have issues which may require home visit charge or Complete system replacement. Their Security system monitor reads from a technical order book and often unable to answer without referring to the technical book. Often will switch to other monitors for "advance" questions.

Tip for consumers:
Poor equipment battery lasted four years. Was told to replace the system

So, last Wednesday I get a call from ADT, burglar alarm went off. I answer all the questions, no, there's no one at the house, it must be a break in. I ask them to call the police (their job, that's what they're supposed to do). Yes, they will, and someone will let me know what's going on.

Nothing. I look at the camera footage, yea, there is a break in. You can see burglars in the video. No police.

I call ADT back. They tell me, oh, yes, they notified the police, but didn't tell them it was a burglary in progress. Why? No answer.

I'd like to know why I'm paying for these useless idiots. Don't waste your money, they provide zero protection. Go with someone else.

The deceptive business practices of ADT make it nearly impossible go stop their contract. At one point they even created a SECOND account and began billing us double. They would cancel the contract at our request, then mysteriously start billing us again after 3-4 months. This has been going on for 2 years. BTW: we disconnected our system a year ago and have never received a call asking about a possible power outage. And STILL they continue to bill us!

Safe Home Control representatives are always traveling throughout communities and neighborhoods and may knock on your door soon. They will conduct a FREE security evaluation, pointing out areas of vulnerability, making safety recommendations, and providing potential solutions. When they leave, you will have sufficient information to make an informed decision.

Some sleazy sales guy called me trying to sell me it asked me for information. He just was going to give me pricing, or so he said. He asked for my social...I said no. I don't want you to run a credit report I just want to know what pricing is. He assured me he would not. He just needed it for his file, for every customer. While I was on the phone with him I got a notice from one of the credit agencies...the sleezeball lied while on the phone with me. He did a hard inquiry. These guys are sneaky, underhanded and sleazy. If they go to this kind of measures to try to get your business, imagine what they do once they have you.Avoid them at all costs. Friends who have ADT said they're overpriced, jhave too many problems and their customer service SUCKS

For something as serious as home security, I need to be able to communicate quickly and efficiently with the company I'm paying for monitoring - at ALL hours of the day and night. When my fire alarm goes off at 1:15 am. and there is No Fire. I need to find out why.
And so when I call MY HOME SECURITY COMPANY. I need to be able to speak with someone who understands me... And the nuances of my language. And I need to be able to communicate without a 10 second delay, while my call is re-routed to the other side of the world.
I pay a monitoring company to let me know when there's a fire. NOT to tell me there's a fire - when there isn't one. Naturally, I have questions.
As I was explaining to the agent that who kept talking over me, that he NEEDED TO SLOW DOWN, because I could not understand him. He couldn't understand ME because of the voice lag due to the re-routing of the phone call. And then he disconnected the call. This is UNacceptable.
This is not like a call to a clothing company when a shirt doesn't fit right. This is the company that sold me on monitoring my home for fire and break-in protection - and Peace of Mind. And they can no longer do it effectively nor functionally. Nor do they care.
I have a security company
I pay them quarterly
I can't communicate with them
I will laying all other business aside first thing in the morning to find a new security company which values my time and my money and my property. Goodbye ADT - you got stupid, and you blew it.

My system was not working properly for over a year. When my alarm would go off there was no alert sent to the service center. I know this because I kept receiving voice messages from ADT each month saying routine tests by ADT were not working. That I needed to have my system checked. Over a period of months I deliberately set my alarm off to see how ADT would respond. They didn't. Two separate service reps who checked out my home system explained that ADT had switched to 5g which my existing system could not accommodate. After weeks of going back and forth with ADT we reached a resolution to my problem. I agreed to pay for an updated installation to my system, sign on for another 3 years of service and ADT agreed to send me a check for $393.75 as a make good for the months and months I paid for alarm service that was not in place. I received an e-mail from ADT saying my credit would be in the form of a check which would be mailed to me within 25 days. No check arrived. When I called for an update I spoke to 7, count 'em 7 different people in multiple departments during a call that lasted over an hour and 1/2. I was transferred and dropped from the call numerous times. I was finally told by one rep...well there is no money in the account to credit you...and your request was denied during processing...I spent most of the afternoon trying to reach a supervisor. Late in the day one poor soul at ADT finally said he would try to out thru a 4 month credit on my account. I was also told by one rep that a supervisor would call me back...Probably the same supervisor who dropped my call twice.
