They disguise the site URL to look like the direct hotel website in Google search. It wasn't until I saw the $150+ "tax and recovery fee" on a $214 reservation that I realized something was off. By then I'd already booked. I canceled the reservation, but the site isn't clear on whether or not they refund the exorbitant fees. For comparison, booking directly on Marriott had $34 in government taxes and fees. Bookonline.com is crazy.
Tip for consumers:
Don't. Just don't. Book anywhere else - directly with the hotel, Priceline, Booking.com, Truvago, Kayak - anywhere else.

This gentleman was friendly, efficient, didn't put pressure on me to join something I didn't want, and spoke clearly so I could understand him. He made it easy and quick to make the reservation.

Jill was the most helpful and pleasant rep I've dealt with in a while, and this on a Monday morning! Got what I wanted, got my AAA bonuses, and the room I wanted for a low price. Jill hade made Comfort Inn my Leniir City home away from home.

Couldn't help me with a simple question. Had no number for the sf hotel. Said "you can google it" in a sarcastic tone. Won't be giving this place business.

If you've read any of these reviews, you now know that BookOnline is a deceptive business. Visit https://bookonlinereviews.com for details.
I booked hotel reservations through BookOnline and received an invoice from them that stated "Free Cancellation" in bold, bright-yellow text. When I tried to cancel shortly thereafter (and more than two months before the check in date) they didn't reply (well, I received a "we'll respond promptly email" and nothing else).
I immediately contacted my bank, Wells Fargo, who temporarily credited my account. After the hotel reservation date, BookOnline finally contacted me (how convenient!) to tell me they would not refund my money. Wells Fargo (shame on you) then debited the money from my account. BookOnline.com effectively stole $1,171.08 from me.

I called, what I thought, was a local hotel number. Instead, I spoke with "Charla".
She offered several options and locations for hotels that were pet friendly. Great job Charla!

I booked a room through this site 3 months in advanced for a business trip. I tried to cancel within 24 hrs they refused to refund or give a credit. I tried to call twice and was told they wouldn't do anything the first time. The 2nd time they gave me another number which was blatantly fraudulent. Asking information they would never need trying to steal more money or my identity. The company has no morals and no care for they customer and they hire horrible people who will try to scam you. Don't waste your money. Protect yourself from this predatory booking agency.
Tip for consumers:
Don't use this site under any circumstances ever

Do not use Booking.com! It's a scam. You will be over paying by 15-20%. I didn't intend to book through a 3rd Party. Thought I was calling the "La Quinta Reservations" phone direct. They do not identify themselves. They gave me a $10-15 discount on the room, but after a long reservation process they quickly added $40 (40%) in Taxes & Fees and convince you that it is standard for this hotel location. Found out afterward that I was not talking to La Quinta, but there are no refunds and nothing you can do.

I asked you a question about check in time and you hung up or we lost connection and you didn't reach back out. I had to call back and get someone else to make my reservation.

The representative I spoke with was friendly and very helpful. Everything close to where I wanted was booked and he helped find a great alternative.

Site does not disclose "Tax recovery/fees" prior to purchase. Their tax recovery/fees where 3 times the standard rate if I would have booked thru the hotel website (which I thought I was doing so that is my bad). Reporting to BBB. Sit needs to be shutdown!

Called to book reservations in Culver City and Joyce answered my call:
Knew exactly how to work with her contact
Pleasant
Informative
Patient
Knowledgeable
When I first started my career I answered calls from veterans 8 hrs. A day for 3 months, rotated snd back for another 3, did this for about 8 years, so I'm familiar with that line of work, it can tough, but Joyce nailed it!

Hi John, we are sorry you had this experience. Just like when you book through a hotel directly, BookOnline must charge its customers for all applicable taxes, including any hotel taxes. Additionally, by charging a service fee for all of its reservations, we are able to offer 24/7 customer support and operate as an independent travel network. BookOnline conspicuously discloses all fees and taxes on its checkout summary webpage. Despite our transparency, we remain concerned about your experience. Please send us a private message with your reservation information used at the time of purchase and we will respond with the next steps.
