I booked this reservation thinking I was booking it through the hotel's website. Upon realizing the rates I was paying were much higher than the hotel's actual rates and that I needed to make an adjustment to the dates, I cancelled this within 48 hours of booking. The policy said the cancellation and refund was subject to the hotel's cancellation policy. They refused to issue any refund for a booking that is 5 months out. This is a horrible business practice and very misleading to the customer. The confirmation itself says "Free Cancellation" which seems synonymous with a refundable reservation. I have never had such an unpleasant experience and will never use this again.

We tried booking at a Toronto hotel but there was no availability Joyce, in Reservations at the Canopy Hotel, was a terrific help. 1 star only because they dont allow negative stars. This company is operating with misleading and deceptive practices which are illegal in Australia. The only way to stop or limit there scam behaviour is to warn people. I made a booking with Bookonlie.com not realising they were an american website. They charged american $ for a booking in Australia for an Australian hotel. They also charged over $50 aus for insurance which I did not select. When I call and complained they chose to cancel my booking. I DID NOT ASK FOR THE BOOKING TO BE CANCELLED> So now i have lost over $600 and have no accomodation. Numerous calls to - yes you guessed it a Phillipino call centre - i have had no help. They tell me someone will call me back but it has now been over 2 weeks. The last call centre person tried to assure me they were a highly professional internal company. MMM you would wonder if this was correct why they would need to steal from people.
Quick and painless. Great customer service. I usually do things on line, but the online booking kept going a loop.

Thought I was booking directly with the Hotel. They scam you with the phony URL first, then when you go to the billing page it switches to Bookonline. I needed to cancel the next day, 2 weeks out total, they said no refunds PERIOD.
Absolute BS, It wasn't even booked for more than 24 hours. It was still showing "pending on my Bank Account. So I am Disputing the charges and WILL NEVER USE THIS FRAUDULENT CRIMINAL SITE AGAIN! There needs to be an investigation into this scam website!

I had an inquiry about the reservation I was making on a hotel website and thought that I had called the hotel reservation agent. I had quickly googled reservation number for the hotel I was booking with and this was the number that came up. The agent who answered said hello, I see you are trying to make a reservation at the MADE hotel, he did not answer saying he was from "Booking Online". I explained that I was on the hotel website, making a reservation and had a question regarding the rate and wondered if the hotel could accommodate my request. The agent told me that he was unable to accommodate but could help me book the stay as rooms were at a premium. I explained I had it on the hotel website and had already entered all my particulars but would be equally happy for him to book it for me. Once again, I assumed he worked for the hotel. At no point, did the agent say he was from "Booking online" and at no point did he say there would be a service charge for me to use his services. I feel that the entire service provided was dishonest and fraudulent. The agent took advantage, knowing full well from tge enquiries that I made that I believed I was speaking to a hotel agent.
When I realized I had not booked directly through the hotel I was furious. I reached out to booking.com and as it was too close to my departure, I was hesitant to attempt to cancel the reservation as I knew I would likely incur further costs therefore I contacted Booking.com and requested they refund the booking costs but they were unwilling to and did not address or acknowledge any responsibility. Thankfully the hotel was excellent and said that sadly this type of fraudulent behaviour happens frequently.
It has taught me a lesson in the future and hope that others take note.
