I won an auction on Bring A Trailer. My credit card was charged immediately for the 5% fee per Bring A Trailer's policy. I was not given the seller's contact info until the fee was charged. Upon contacting the buyer I learned that some information he had specifically put in the auction wording was not correct. The Seller had represented that certain work had been done on the car which he said was not done when we talked. Then, I also learned that modifications to the engine and interior had been done which were not mentioned in the auction. I refused to go forward with purchasing the car based on these 2 problems. One was an outright lie in that the work actually done on the car prior to auction was different than what was stated in the ad.The second issue was that there was no mention to an engine modification that was not mentioned in the ad at all. Bring A Trailer refused to refund the charge made to my credit card stating that I should have clarified all the issues prior to bidding. HOW DOES A PROSPECTIVE BUYER CLARIFY A LIE AND A MISREPRESENTATION PRIOR TO KNOWING THEY EXISTED? As prospective Buyer, I relied on the information contained in the ad...as is fair and justified. It is not my responsibility to try to weed out lies, mispresentations, omissions from a Seller's Ad. There was absolutely no support from Bring A Trailer who refused to waive the fee ($1,000)."James" of Bring A Trailer's resolution department told me "too bad, it was up to me to make sure I was happy before bidding." And Bring A Trailer locked my account as well. So, Buyer Beware...You will be charged the fee for buying a vehicle EVEN IF the seller lied, misrepresented information, or omitted important details. Buy A Trailer will NOT stand by you. FOLLOW UP NOTE: After filing a complaint with the Office of the Texas Attorney General and the Better Business Bureau of San Francisco, Bring A Trailer decided to credit the charge of $1,000 made to my credit card.

Tip for consumers:
The company Bring A Trailer will not support a Buyer/Bidder who suffers loss from Seller's misrepresentations, lies, or omissions.
