I rarely review, unless something is fantastic or completely dire. Guess which category Britbox falls into. If britbox was a person, I would smash its face in. Not really, but wow, britbox is frustrating.
I am still on my free trial and I have cancelled it tonight. After reading reviews on here, they better not charge me!
Never managed to watch anything without buffering or crashing, that is if I can get on it in the first place.
Don't entertain it, life is too short.
I signed up, to access the 30 day trial you're forced to leave your card details.
The programming quality is poor, frankly - tired old british TV programmes.
Then - I forgot to cancel, which is why they make you leave your card details. Only unlike most subscription based services that work in this way, Britbox doesn't refund under those circumstances.
AVOID!
Rip-off! I gave this service to my 82 year old mother for Christmas. After many calls, and many hours on hold, the service still failed to work but the company refuses to issue a refund. The strategy seems to be to wear you down until you give up and simply let your money go. Definitely merits investigation, and I will certainly be forwarding my complaints to the appropriate agencies in groups at all levels. Meanwhile do not buy this under any circumstances unless you are a masochist!
There is no option to unsubscribe, after you discover many missing episodes in the box sets, emailing them for help to unsubscribe won't do anything either, they don't reply, (no surprise since the option isn't accessible and they ask for your card details before the free trial), slimy people. Will be pursuing legally, hope everyone speaks up to save others the bother.
I purchased a subscription with BritBox year beginning 2019. All was going well throughout 2019 until a friend gave me a present of an annual subscription on December 25,2019 for year 2020. Since then I've had problems viewing, requests for my credit information, and a complete disregard (no response) for any email I had sent. I really have to wonder whether my emails have been read because when I did eventually receive a response the issue had neither been resolved or understood. I've sent off another email requesting viewing rights and am awaiting a response from Elizabeth, Customer Service. Given the choice between BritBox and Acorn I would choose Acorn TV every time
A lot of money has been spent launching the service
Before that was done the developer is best advised to make sure the application runs and invest in customer care which in my experience is appalling.
On launch up comes error message 'video is error' and that applies to everything.
Nothing launches
The problem is most evident using Amazon Fire not that 'support' seem to care.
Avoid at all costs and cancel any subscription urgently.
I purchased a gift subscription for my wife based on the advertising seen on TV. There was no indication that she'd need to purchase another device for the TV and that it could only be accessed via a phone or ipad. She has neither. Unfortunately I didn't first use the free trial or I would have known about this. They refused to refund the price.
The content is pretty much the same as is available on Amazon or Acorn.
Don't try it!
Found out after the purchase that you can't use this service on your Fire stick unless you purchase britbox directly through Amazon. Contacted Britbox customer service but they obviously don't care because I have not received any reply. This "service" is horrible and when we do connect through our computers we discover that their content is horrible and very poor/outdated. Complete waste of money!
I was unable to log in for at least 2 months on Britbox and once they fixed it, they gave me NO compensation what so ever. They basically stole from me. I can't even tell you how many times I contacted them during those 2 months trying to get help. Terrible customer service! I'm going to try Acorn.
Received a gift subscription, tried to activate requires credit card info. Called to confirm, spoke to really surly male who said yes you need to enter cc info. Of course now my cc has been charged. Have sent 2 emails with no response. Will now call... Avoid!
I signed up for a free trial and cancelled after two days. The Britbox stream via my Roku box was of uniquely poor quality, the stream continually buffered and dropped. I'd love to pay for the content, but they need to work out their technical issues first.
The BritBox app is malfunctioning trash, but beyond that they practice deceitful renewal processes, and when I lodged a refund request with their customer service only 4 days after the deceitful renewal, they said no. Case was elevated to a supervisor who took a week to get back to me and said no again. Absolutely no sense of customer service or courtesy in the responses. Stay away from this company. They don't care at all about the customer, and are willing to argue with you for $7.99.
I canceled my subscription in December'21. BritBox went ahead and charged my visa for another year's subscription fee on 12-31-21. Despite numerous emails and calls to their customer service no refund has been issued. They don't even respond to the emails. Beware!
I erroneously signed up for a trial under another state and tried to correct it which led me to get charged twice. I called BritBox customer service and without hesitation they told me that they don't issue refunds or credits. Extremely disappointed!
Despite contacting Britbox twice I have received no response from my request for a credit for my 30 days free trial. The money was taken from my account as soon as I subscribed, & did so every month until I cancelled after 3 months.
Also, not interested in paying to watch reruns of reruns.
Joke, & a rip off.
Too many old shows. I like mysteries, but they never change the shows. There are a hundred Miss Marples, yet they have the same 4 or 5 stories for years. If it's licensing it must be a British problem because Netflix HBO and Showtime don't seem to have any problems. I keep saying I'm going to cancel it, yet here I am scrolling through these same old shows hoping to see something not in the 70's or 80's or that Ive not seen before. Please do something with this channel, I love British tv.
I canceled my seven day free trial on day 5. Britbox (BB) sent 2 notices acknowledging my cancelation, the 1st came same day I canceled,
The 2nd came after they charged me. Couldn't get refund from them or Amazon, but was refunded by my bank. BB gave me the runaround for a week. Amazon told me to contact my bank. I'll never subscribe to Britbox again.
I agreed to the free trial on Amazon. I was almost immediately told I could not watch Britbox because I live in Italy. The end of the story you may think, but oh no, they have been taking money from my account since May of this year, the last in August. I have sent numerous emails and no reply or resolve.
Well done the BBC
Britbox is disappointing. Most of their content is dated (not that they necessarily share that information with you on their site). The few series they have that show promise, they ruin. "Our Girl" is a case in point. The first season gives you Molly, a young civilian woman with little focus in life who becomes an Army medic and is placed in combat situations. You become invested in her story. Then, they rush out seasons two, three and four. Aside from mentioning her name in the first episode, the story features Georgie - (is this an homage to that 60's flick 'Georgie Girl?') Anyway, it's a disappointment from the get-go. Their documentary series are okay, but they are few and far between. A waste of time, and money.
Cancelling my subscription to britbox after one hour because you can only watch britbox on your tablet, computer or your phone but can't stream it to my tv, someone is getting paid far to much and doing a rubbish job, come on guys, get your $#*! together.
Britbox has a rating of 1.6 stars from 322 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Britbox most frequently mention customer service, free trial and credit card. Britbox ranks 197th among Streaming Movies sites.
