4 minutes to load a show and sometimes cant sign in. It just spins and spins. How in this day and age does this happen. To bad, good show line up
The premise behind Britbox is intriguing, but the result is limited. They have constructed their promotional to give the impression that there are a number of desirable TV series that are available. As it turns out, that only true some of the time. Many are not completely available. Sometimes there is only a "teaser" episode, or a partial series really offered. Most of those situations result in a means by which you can "purchase" the remaining content at an additional cost.
The interface is through Amazon's Prime Video offering which is a terribly "lame" interface compared to Netflix, et. Al. The Britbox functionality is, if you can believe it, even lamer that the Amazon Prime interface. That gives you two levels of error prone application software to navigate. Britbox is terrible at keeping track of what episode you are watching (or what is next). Amazon is a little "shaky" in this area but Britbox takes it to a whole new level of ineptitude. Some seasons of a series may always position you at Ep 1, even though you have watched Ep 1-3 already. Every time you want to watch the next episode you must navigate from 1 to "N" to watch Ep. "N".
The interaction between the "Watchlist" and the Britbox "channel" is sketchy at best. Amazon Prime itself is not particularly good at this concept but this is even more unimpressive.
In Summary:
- We've been Netflix subscribers for 14 years. I'd rate them 9 out of 10.
- We've been Amazon Prime subscribers for 10 years. I'd rate them 6 out of 10.
- We've been Britbox subscribers for 2-1/4 MONTHS. Id rate them 4 out of 10.
The Bottom Line: Do your research well before subscribing. Subscribe. Watch what you want like there's no tomorrow. Unsubscribe and get out.
I love British sitcom comedy and mysteries. Great price for so many seasons! No problem streaming on my smartphone! Thank you!
Not being able to delete "continue watching." They have been working on it for 2 years. No progress.
Good content if only I could see it without it buffering, cutting out, going back to the beginning or being totally unresponsive.
I originally cancelled my subscription over a year ago because the service was so bad and rejoined just before Christmas 2020 as I thought things may have improved. I was so wrong. No improvement. I have no problem whatsoever with any other streaming service. BritBox couldn't care less about this. I know this because I've dealt with them at length. They don't have a complaints procedure and appear to be totally unregulated. I phoned Ofcom but was told they don't deal with streaming services' complaints which surprised me. No idea who does, does anybody know? You can enjoy so much more elsewhere with a great service. Something BritBox haven't cracked yet. They must have very poor resources not to be able to fix this after such a long time but they don't care. They tried to tell me it was my broadband speed. Total rubbish. No problems at all with the other services to which I subscribe.
I won't give up on finding out who they are regulated by and make a formal complaint. They're just short of a highwayman's mask. It can't be right?
Service is under developed, yet the price they charge is comparable to other excellent services out there. They are cheats, and they know it, and so do their customer services team because they'll go to great lengths asking you to try this and try that knowing full well the service is under developed but they can't tell you that. Their parting shot after you've gone through every hoop imaginable is that it's your broadband service that's at fault, not them!
BritBox just want your money. Don't give it to them. It's rubbish as so many consumer reviews on this website have confirmed.

This is about britbox.com. There is a britbox.co.uk that looks far superior as far as programming, with so many different things, also including channels 4 and 5, and with a 30-day free trial. The programming also looks like it includes a lot more recent things, but I didn't look at it extensively. It just looks a lot more professional and better presented than. Com, as I would expect from my fellow Brits. The cheeseparing cheapskates at. Com who only give a 7-day trial are the ones I'm talking about, and I think the. co.uk and. Com are run by different people, but I'm not entirely sure. I think I'll send a message to the. co.uk and see. If they are different, I'm more likely to get a reply. I already got an auto-reply from. co.uk, unlike the no response at all from. Com. In the time it took to listen to a few songs, I have received a reply from. co.uk telling me that they are 2 separate companies run by different people, that. Com is their sister company in the US and Canada.
I sent an email with some questions about this service well over 3 months ago, back in April, I didn't realise it was that long ago until I was looking at my emails, and never got a reply, not even an auto-reply. If the questions had been answered on their website, I wouldn't have had to write. One thing they did say in their information was what amounts to even if you were to start your subscription at one minute before midnight, that one minute would count as a whole day. They don't go by a specific clock time to make it more fair so you get your full subscription, cheapskates all round.
I did a free 7-day trial through amazon, which worked fine, but they only have a monthly, not an annual, subscription. If I decide to pay for britbox, due to the lack of customer service and the many bad reviews here, I will continue through amazon. At least I know it works there and that there is someone to complain to, if necessary, that will respond.
Without more information, on the surface, I would much prefer. co.uk and would get that one if I could be sure their app wouldn't block my vpn. I may do the free trial and see what happens.
I cannot believe the amount of buffering with Britbox. It was my mistake to try Britbox, I never had any issues whatsoever with Acorn TV.
Holy crap; the new UI is just awful (I say this as someone who has written consumer software for 40 years.
If you have read and loved Longworth's Provence mystery books, you will HATE this show. NOT true to the books!
The worst app/interface I have ever used = and I used iPlayer on the first day of it's trial in October 2005
I have given up trying to use the app on my LG Smart TV, or on Amazon Fire TV Stick - no genres for looking by type such as Drama, Comedy, Documentaries/factual,
Search function is absolutely unusable
It's incredible that this service owned by the BBC and ITV, both of whom have excellent Smart TV apps (iPlayer & ITV Hub), and yet they cannot share their technology with BritBox...
Then there is the paucity of documentaries - if you want me to pay for it, then put BBC Horizon on there, alongside TimeWatch, TimeShift, and some StoryVille - why not look back into ITV Anglias back catalogue and include ITV SURVIVAL SPECIAL - which isn't available ANYWHERE!
- Why not include the history documentaries that the BBC has output in the last 5-10 years or so... surely they're not all restricted by being broadcast by PBS in America?
I cancelled my membership - I'll stick with what's free on ITV Hub, iPlayer, All4 (which ALL have excellent interfaces/smart tv apps), and pay for the decent apps like Netflx, Now TV, Amazon
Plus there's always youtube!
Tried the trial but won't be renewing it, it's just old stuff that's always repeated on TV anyway so I'll stick with Netflix
This is probably the most stupid idea I've ever heard of most of this stuff is free on Freeview the rest of it is repeated anyway on normal TV
THEY DONT DO REFUNDS AND HAVE BEEN CHARGING MY CARD £6 EVERY MONTH AND I HAVEN'T EVEN USED IT! Literally bloody awful and i want my money back!

I tried to watch a previous episode on a series but found the is no way to do this on Roku on a TV.
I don't understand why I have to paid for Britbox if I want to watch it on my Laptop, why should I paid twice for Britbox on my TV and Laptop..
