I have experienced excellent acting, beautiful scenery and wonderful suspense watching Britbox. I look forward to finishing Miss Marple after 12 seasons of Poirot. It will take me years to go through all the great choices and variety of things to watch. The support team was quick and helpful with any problems that arose until I became more familiar navigating the site. Britbox is a wonderful escape from the dreadful news channels and questionable opinions I no longer consider helpful. Thank you from USA.
We first subscribed many years ago when BritBox was first available in Canada. Today we cancelled due to complete frustration with BritBox's inability to provide reliable viewing. We're on fibre, 250mbps, so there's no issue at our end; nor do we have any problems with our other services. BritBox however... We're now in the midst of our third in as many months of the inability to watch BritBox. So far this month we've lost 15% of our viewing days because BritBox refuses to recognise our log-in. Their Chat support is useless and the promised call by their Tech Support folks has yet to happen... now going into day 3.
In August 2018 I started a seven day trial and cancelled the following week. Firs attempt to log in the system said invalid credentials. Customer service contacted to resolve.
I did expect to be billed for the month of August; but was billed twice. Disputed the second charge with Discover thinking it was an honest mistake.
Fast forward to September 7th Discover sends me the following text message:
Discover Card: Transaction of $6.99 at BRITBOX was made on September 07,2018. Text HELP for info, STOP to quit.
Yes. My card was billed again. Below screenshot is their response to my inquiry. You'll see they claim there are not one, but three accounts associated with my credit card? Um... NO. I sent them a reply letting them know the other two accounts do no belong to me and the charge(s) in question should be reversed at once.
I am following up with Discover as well.
Britbox does not work with Roku at all! Shows never load more than 1 minute and then the channel totally shuts down, taking you back to the Roku home screen. Multiple calls to customer service provided absolutely NO help, although I was told that they get a lot of calls like mine - which is just proof that the service is subpar.
If everyone says it's crashed and they don't care.
I won't touch with a dorky stick either...
For a start I can get it on my Main Sony Android Smart TV. So if it crashes and burns, I won't be getting my money back.
It looks like it changed hands to someone very clumsy in every way, that doesn't care about their customers. The only reply I've seen is contact their site with out further comment...
I was excited to see the content included as part of the launch (particularly Doctor Who). There has also been a lot of familiar added content.
My biggest issue is the difficulty navigating the content, application freezing and having to reboot the tv to remove on screen message.
Iplayer works perfectly someone should be drafted in to support or many people will not renew after trial periods
Hick ups over hick ups. Every show is interrupted after a few seconds. Not a joy to watch. I get irritated after a while and quit.
There is so much complaint about BritBox and they have not fixed anything. No updates ever.
No problems at all with the content, knew exactly what I was getting before I signed up.
What I wasn't expecting was not being able to resume where I left off - as I can with Amazon Prime. Or even being able to select say episode 3 of series 4, without having to forward wind through episodes 1 and 2 first.
Hopefully they'll get a grip soon and sort out this issue.
I'd love to watch some of the British comedies that I used to love but all I get is stuttering and a green screen. I have to reboot almost every episode. I haven't had any problems with streaming either crave or prime, so it's definitely not an issue on my end. I really wish I hadn't paid for a full year of this crap service
I received an offer for 3 months on Britbox for $1 a month. The offer code does not work. Their customer service was unable to fix it after 3 calls. Then they sent me an email telling me that THEY will not support me coz I was disrespectful, even though they told me they are aware of the problem, not just from me but from many other customers!
Great company. Blame the customer!
Seriously why is Britbox so slow and primitive? Don't tell me you can't develop a better interface than this. If Acorn were any better I'd switch but it's just as bad. Is this a British issue? Is it somehow related to Brexit? Please bring this thing up to 21st century user interface standards before I lose it and throw my remote through the tv.
Don't think that by paying your monthly fee, you'll get all the advertised programs for free!
When you do complain to Amazon Prime Video,
Their answer is " Well it's not a service of Amazon but rather the BBC."
This service is absolutely abysmal. Laggy and bug ridden app, lack of shows, missing some real classics. The layout is terrible which takes some getting used to. Pointless advertising of the Britbox logo before each episode of a show. Honestly guys, don't waste your money. BBC and ITV have taken a big L on this one.
This used to be a great company and it has some great content. However the last few months I've been having subscription problems every month RIGHT after the bill is paid. Although I can watch on my devices, I can't watch on tv. Says I need to subscribe even though I have an active account. I don't understand how they can't see that and fix the problem. Customer service is completely useless. They send the same email without doing anything. This is my last straw. I am canceling if they can't resolve in a timely manner. Be aware of this company.
As a British TV enthusiast, I was excited when Britbox launched. Imagine my disappointment after signing up for a monthly subscription fee only to get to Season 4 of 'Waking the Dead' and then hitting a paywall. If I want to watch any of the remaining seasons, it will cost me an extra $20 a season in addition to my monthly subscription. I'm leery now about investing anymore of my time in this service, getting to know and love the characters of other series, only to be held hostage if I want to continue watching. Steer clear unless you enjoy getting ripped off.
I can't watch BritBox on our TV without going through several hoops and it is way to much of a hassle. The content is just not worth it. As I found out, you can cancel the service, but their is no pro-rated refund available. With today's technology, it shouldn't be that difficult to stream this service. Buyer beware, I wish I had been smarter on this deal.
I'm enjoying the content but the app is somewhat buggy. It fails most o& the time to keep track of what has been watched so I have to keep going back to search for the programme I was watching. There are glaring omissions in the content. Many programmes are not yet available,
Stay away from Brit Box. If you sign up for any of their promo plans and then late in canceling even by an hour, they will charge your credit card and will refuse to refund your payment. I suggest you either use Acorn or some other site for British shows or, sign up for a free plan and cancel the next day. You will still get your weeks worth of watching and the good thing, you can sign up again with a different email address and get another week for free. You can do this as many times as you want.

Britbox's customer service is terrible. I decided I no longer wanted the service and canceled, receiving a cancellation confirmation email. They continued to bill my card for three months past the cancellation date. I have called four times and have yet to get connected with a service rep. Here's what Britbox needs to do. Give customers a cancellation confirmation number and stop their practice of ignoring cancellation requests. If they're still involved with Amazon, then Amazon should cut them loose.
I looked forward to Britbox and am disappointed in how poor their technology is. Navigating the site, finding the shows and then paging through season after season until I get to the current episode is a constant frustration! Try checking out Amazon Prime, whose site is very used friendly.
Horrible site, basic functionality missing, customer support non-responsive.
1. No search engine (probably unique on the world wide web)
2. Close captioning missing for some movies
3. Close captioning not in sync with the movie
4. Random episodes from various series missing
There is a lot of good content on Britbox but the lack of a dedicated app on game consoles and streaming sticks as well as an inability to stream from your phone or tablet to make up for this makes the service feel very incomplete. The service also feels a bit overpriced as for less than double the price you can get a months subscription of Netflix or Amazon Prime which give you much more for your money. Purely being an ad free archive of British TV makes Britbox a long way off being a potential Netflix competitor as the lack of new and original content and a lack of key features will mean it will likely only appeal to a very small audience who probably just want to watch one or two shows they haven't seen in a long time. If the missing features I mentioned get added and they reduce the price then I might change my review to 4 stars because there are a lot of good shows on here but the service doesn't feel ready for a full release.
This has a very large catalogue of British TV programs and movies, they've created their own content and you're able to find unaired episodes and content available nowhere else. I use this app way more than I use Netflix. I do have concerns about security since I my password was hacked, I now have someone watching my account in Kent and the only way to get rid of them is by totally deleting my account along with active subscription, watch lists and user profiles. Currently Britbox does not require additional password checks if you change the password, nor can they delete the other person using your account, so if this hacker decides to share the account with 5 other people I would effectively booted out of my own subscription, they can also delete my entire account or change it to their own email and password and there is nothing I could do but unsubscribe. Britbox have been totally unhelpful in this.
Based on other reviews this is probably pointless. I haven't had any of the problems other people have had. I loved Brit box. But I just started a series and there were ads. I pay for television so I don't have to watch ads. I hate them. I cancelled my subscription.
I haven't tried it given the overall rating.
However, streaming is the future but I haven't cut my cable just yet.
There are so many free streaming apps now, why would you pay?
Even buying Roku, FireTV and IPTV boxes with cheap subscriptions, may not be the answer.
I use Chromecast and Youtube for a lot of my, mostly free, TV and Movie watching.
While it would be nice to see britbox succeed, their lack of service, untrained help desk, inabilities to accept credit card changes in the Canadian market and general ineptitude make them not worth your time or money.
Empty promises of call back and general attitude of "oh well" and " you have to understand" by VERY apparently abandoned and so, unconcerned people on the help desk show lack of managerial leadership and general dysfunction within the organization. Other reviews are bearing this out as well Looks like BritBox can't even be bothered to read their reviews. Too bad for them Don't use this frustrating and uncaring product from an organization that is disengaged.
BritBox is OK if you love UK TV. It's got a load of stuff on there, but the fact that it's not iPlayer is just frankly baffling.
There are so many navigation issues and the whole scrolling to the next episode is just awful.
Maybe come back in a year, but right now, the flaws are really glaring and there's just not enough here to make it worth watching past the free trial.
