Beware having been a customer for 3 years I have seen a track record of 33% deliveries being late. This is the fault of butcherbox.com, they ship regular UPS ground and not over night or 2 day air. Thus if the UPS driver(S) are having a bad day you food arrives in 3-4 days with not dry ice and the food is all thawed. butcherbox.com does not put a lot of dry ice in the box to accommodate the travel time either. I have bought other perishable food where the packing have approximately 1-2 lbs of dry ice. Not butcherbox.com, they put in about 6 ozs. butcherbox.com will ship a new box or refund,, but the pain is you need to throw away all this food (Or take a chance getting sick). You do know how many times the food has been thawed and refrozen. One more thing, in their website they say if the food arrives above 40 degrees, then throw out, call for replacement. They suggest 40 and under can be refrozen or eaten right away. Its tough to eat 30 lbs of food at one sitting. 40 degrees is above the temperature of freezing. By refreezing, this creates ice crystals on the food thus degrading the quality and long term freezer storage time!

I follow a low carb diet, which involves a lot of meat. A few weeks ago, my mom called me up and told me about ButcherBox. She told me to check it out and if I was interested she'd pay for it (because she's a great lady like that). I decided to give it a try, and oh man, this place does not disappoint. It's absolutely amazing that the animals are treated well for one, and the meat is outstanding. I've already picked my selection for my next box, and added one of their free range turkeys for Thanksgiving as well as an add-on pack of apple gouda sausage. If you're a big meat eater, I highly recommend Butcher Box. Shipping was prompt (arrived within a week or so of billing, still frozen solid) and price is reasonable, especially for this level of quality. I'm sincerely looking forward to trying the other cuts I got and to receiving my next box, not to mention a lovely free range turkey delivered for Thanksgiving!

I live in a big city and it's a hassle to walk to the market and carry home a lot of meat. Butcher box sends everything to me cold in an insulated box with a block of dry ice so everything is still frozen. The meat is great quality and they also have some good salmon pieces too. Everything about their service, including the customer support, has worked out well. I'd say that they're a winner.

Tip for consumers:
Get a full box and try different things. You might have never tried to make ribs at home but they give you a good opportunity to learn.

Living in a big city makes it harder to get to a fresh quality market. The best way to get natural grass fed meat that I've found so far is to have them send it to me. It's always been frozen and packed well with dry ice. I like to mix up my orders with beef and chicken one month then beef and pork the next. I also toss a few extra burgers in there. That's basically all I have in my freezer. One time I did need customer service and they took a few days to get back to me. They eventually resolved the problem to my satisfaction but I do wish they were a little faster with that.

Terrible customer service. My shipment is missing. They say to use their "online chat". Online chat doesn't work. Left them a message, and they say it may be up to 72 hours to get a response. A box full of meat will be a box full of mush by the time they START the process. In the meantime I'm out a LOT of money.

Great quality and excellent customer service. I love that the product comes in an amazing multi-use bag. They substituted one of the meats I ordered and I didn't realize. It was our least favorite cut and when I emailed about it they sent me a refund. Not that they had to do that, I was trying to figure it out - but it was super good customer service!

I ordered a box of meat for keto diet through Thomas DeLauer keto video who said I'd get a discount -- which also never happened. I paid $149 to ButcherBox which took my money but promised delivery 12/1 which never arrived. Yesterday some person from their customer service emailed me a long-winded message. I asked her WHEN am I getting my food? No answer. Instead I am asked to rate her long-winded message. I just also posted this review on Tom DeLauer's YouTube video about grass-fed beef.

I did have to involve the BBB but they did refund my money and let me keep my delivery. I wish they hadn't charged my cc without asking BUT they did grant me a refund after a little bit of work. The quality of the meat is beyond great - the delivery generally ok - the charging without asking happened only once and they made up for it - so all in all 4 stars.

The food products were good but the customer service is atrocious. In general, the order edit to delivery process is cumbersome. There is no way to gauge when your box will be delivered like other meal services. Often times packages came after I was hoping to use them. Once the box was delivered incorrectly but Butcher Box wasn't willing to refund or replace. I had a 2nd issue and when I contacted customer service, they used customer service killer phrases like... "There's nothing we can do / I can't help you"... "I'll get back to you" then followed up with "there's nothing we can do"... "I don't have a supervisor"... "I can't issue a credit or refund"... "we can't help you. File a report with your credit card company" I spoke to two customer service reps and these phrases appear to be part of their service script. Very disappointing service for an error which should have been a simple resolution resulting in a canceled subscription.

Terrible customer service. I placed my FIRST order with this company on Friday 01/17. It is now 01/21, with no status of shipment. The terrible customer service people via chat were telling me the orders need 1-3 BUSINESS days of processing before shipping. Okay, great, it's already been 3 business days since I placed my order, and on 01/22 it will have been 4 business days. No update on shipping, no update on processing, and the first rep I was speaking to canceled the chat telling me to have a good day after I asked a question.

They were telling me I placed the order on Saturday, when I actually placed it on Friday. Even on my order history it says Friday 01/17. I am absolutely upset by the level of customer service provided by SHELAH and Janet. Shelah btw is the one that closed the chat on me before even coming to any bit of resolution. There was no help whatsoever for a new customer.

Horrified by this experience...

I received my monthly order. There were several items that I did not order and my total price was significantly higher than usual. When I called their customer service to explain that I did not order these items and I would like to set up a return and credit, I was told there was nothing they could do. They basically said it was my fault. I should have done a better job of reviewing my order. I explained to them that I place this order every month I know how to use the site I do review the order and the items that I brought to their attention simply were not ordered by me. They refused to accept that as even a possibility. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was informed that "a supervisor will tell me the same thing". And, that it wouldn't take up to 48 hours for a supervisor to get back in contact with me.
Needless to say I canceled my account and I will not be ordering from this company again.

My wife and I have been ordering from ButcherBox for several years. We have had many many examples of receiving our box with missing items or items with damaged packaging. Each time, we call customer support and they say they will add it to a future box. They absolutely refuse to make a special shipment to get you the items you paid for. Multiple times, we purchased our next box and STILL did not receive our items missing from the previous box. We call support yet again and they have no clue what we are talking about. We recently had a baby and as a result have not been checking our emails every single day. We noticed on the 13th, that they sent an email on the 10th allowing us only 48 hours to change or cancel the order. We called to try to cancel the order the same day the payment started processing and were told they would not be doing anything to cancel it. They advised that we could return the package to sender, but they will not be issuing a refund. Multiple times, their support has been rude and unproductive absolutely unwilling to help.

Tip for consumers:
If you absolutely feel the need to use this company, don't even bother calling when something goes wrong. It is way more frustrating than it is worth.

I was really impressed with the quality of their product. The packaging was pristine, individually frozen and kept inside a sealed plastic. All inside a insulated carry-on container--unlike the large packs sat on ice. The meat, I believe was raised on pasture, instead of the 3 months grass meat that most 'organic' places sell me. The taste was incredible, the portions cut to perfection. I truly enjoyed it. Now make sure that when you order you find out which day of the month the box is coming as opposed to the day of the week--I was looking for the box for one week because most organic meats I bought in the past comes on ice inside thermo containers but they were not frozen, and you don't want them to sit on the sun, but this one comes frozen. Still, make sure you confirm the date of delivery. The price was good as well (matter of fact I paid less for this meat than the others that are the last 3 months fed on grass). This is the tip for the day: great meat at great price. Enjoy it!

I do have to say that the customer service is awful. The meat comes about 2 weeks later than what they say it would come. They refuse to send a link to track the package and instead, they send it a link of Fedex forms to be filled instead of a link to check where the package is. They don't answer emails or telefophone. So, I gave up their product, as good as it is.

I have an ongoing, every 3-month subscription for the All Beef box for $129. This subscription easily takes care of all of my beef needs. Very, VERY rarely do I purchase beef at the grocery store anymore. The beef arrives well-packed and frozen. Each cut is tightly wrapped and clearly labeled. At times, ButcherBox will offer a deal for extra pounds of their ground beef, bacon, and the like. After you pay the one time, minimal fee, the item(s) are included for free in every box for the lifetime of your subscription. There was only one time where I wasn't completely satisfied and that was to no fault of their own... the COVID19 pandemic hit and they ran out of their regular (my favorite) 85/15 ground beef 1 pound packs. They substituted in their beef patties AND refunded the cost of the missing 1 pound ground beef packs. I find that they run as regular as clockwork, and I am always notified as to when the next box is arriving. Also, as an aside, my neighbor and I reuse their boxes as nearly-indestructible beds for our local feral cat colony! I highly recommend this company.
