“I've had two repairs from this place and both were...”

Don C.
1/27/11

I've had two repairs from this place and both were fine. Some suggest poor communication from them and while I can say they didn't sweep me off my feet with communication, they were nice and polite and they do reply. One thing to note is that most all of these shops are about the same with communication. Cameras and Parts doesn't hold your hand and rub your belly during the process of the repair. Keep in mind, if you pay Canon about double the price, they won't do that either. Some people should grow up and get back to reality. For anyone out there who has a reasonable sense of mind, Cameras and Parts does a good job on repairs and they have better pricing than most any other place. I can confidently recommend them based on two good repair experiences.

BEWARE! They have had my camera since early May 2014. They answered 1 phone inquiry in early July. They have not responded to numerous phone calls, emails and a certified letter. They have my $500 camera and it appears to now be stolen as of 8/27/2014.

I recently sent my Canon G9 to camerasandparts.com. They were very professional and went above and beyond what their job requires. This was to be a rush order and the person I spoke with retrieved a coupon code for me to use. This resulted in a very quick turn around time and ended up costing just a bit more than their regular service. I am extremely pleased with the level of professionalism and service I received. Please note, I am NOT an employee of this company, but a stay at home mom from Washington state. I was a bit reluctant to send my camera sight unseen to a company half way across the country for repair, however I am extremely happy that I did. I will certainly do business with them again!

Our beloved Canon G9 went down a couple months ago with the dreaded lens error. The (great) local camera shop gave us the bad news that our only options were to send it in to Canon for a long wait and a steep price or give this online outfit a try. I was a little skeptical and made a phone call to CamerasAndParts.com before sending my camera in. I spoke with a very nice and helpful gentleman who assured me we'd be in good hands. I was told up front that their service could take weeks but that we could pay for it to be expedited. After sending it in for regular service, we decided to take a trip and requested the quicker service to get it back in time. It was done in a week and seems to be as good as new now. I would recommend them to anyone who has a Canon problem.

Thanks!

Having problems with my Cannon Power Shot A590IS. Sent them an email and a reply was quickly sent suggesting I try something simple before sending for repair.
It worked! Kind and expert service.
Thank you! Will save your email address and recommend you to everyone I know who needs

This place has repaired two cameras for me now. The repair work is excellent and they are very reasonably priced. Work quality is excellent, I was impressed with every part of their service. Only concern was their status page is not in real time, not a big deal, everything else was above and beyond! They are a great choice for repairing digital cameras.

We had a canon sx20 repaired at this place. They did an exceptional job. My husband is way too picky and even he was impressed with their repair quality. We have used the camera since the repair without a single problem.

I dropped my Canon SX210IS while hiking a few weeks ago, cracking the lcd screen. I could not get any kind of assurance from Canon as to whether they would fix the problem if I sent it in, or just try to sell me another camera. C&P.com looked they had a repair kit all ready, so I simply printed off their order form and sent it in with the camera. About a week later I thought I would follow up and see if they had received it and was horrified to see many serious complaints against this company. I called them and their customer serv. People assured me they were totally legit. And that I would not be charged until the repair was done. Two weeks later and I have the camera back, fully functional, completely cleaned, a new lcd, AND a new backlight. For $89, that is an awesome deal. I don't know what happened in the past, but I got GREAT service from camerasandparts.com.

My daughters friend borrowed our G9 and it came back not working. She said she didn't drop it or anything and that it just wouldn't turn on. Doing some research my husband learned of a screw that often comes loose in this models and short circuits something. The camera then loses power.

We had it repaired through Cameras And Parts. They confirmed it was that loose screw problem. They fixed it and corrected the screws so it won't happen to ours again. For $89, we were thrilled with the wonderful service.

If it matters, ours was about 4 years before it had the problem.

We just had a Canon SX100 fixed through them for the common lens error problem. Though I will admit that ours did get dropped on a tile floor which was how we got the lens error problem to begin with. We used this place and since having it worked on, it's been working flawlessly. One of the nice things that both my husband and I immediately noticed was how well they cleaned the camera. We're quite pleased with everything!

Canon G12 gave out on me during a tournament we needed it for. CamerasAndParts bent over backwards to get it fixed fast and rushed back to us quick. You won't get better service than this place. I really mean that. They were very helpful and the repair has worked as new since the repair. I'll rate them a 10 out of 10. Their service and cost to repair is unmatched!

My camera is the Canon SX20IS. From one day to the next it got a lens error. I did drop it on a tile floor probably three months prior so I don't know if the fall was related or not. Since this place fixed it the camera has been working like a gem. They're very good at repairs.

I used this site (cameras&parts) for a problem I was having with my Canon. The camera was showing the error message for the lens and my lens was stuck on the camera. I believe it was from sand getting in there, this happened weeks after my last trip to the beach for the summer.

So this place actually did a nice job on the repair and they cleaned the hell out of the camera. It's working nicely again and the whole process was a few weeks plus shipping back and forth.

I'd recommend them to anyone. They did great work and the communication was actually quite good. Their prices for the repair work is more than reasonable too. What I liked best was when I spoke with them I could immediately tell they actually knew what they were talking about. Since they only do Canons I got the feeling they really know the in's and out's of these cameras. My camera seems to work like new again and I'm happy for that. Recommend to anyone needing to have a Canon repaired or worked on.

Cameras and Parts was a great solution for us. We had two cameras worked on by them and they did very nice repairs to both. They were polite to talk to and offered pricing that was lower than other repair sites. One camera took less than 2 weeks which blew me away and the other about five weeks. They do very nice on their repairs and in the process of the repair, the camera gets the service too which I like. Both cameras have been back for a couple of weeks already and I am happy to report that they work like they did when they were new. I don't believe some of the negative complaints, seems like the complete opposite of our experience. Maybe we were fortunate and got good service. I can however recommend them as a result of our very good experience on the two repairs they did for us. The cameras work right again and we've been enjoying them since having them serviced.

I ordered a battery door part for my canon. I put my old address for shipping and it was my mistake. They sent the part out within hours so when I tried to correct my adders I couldn't because they had already shipped the part. So I had to drive 40 minutes to get it from my old apartment where they sent it. It wasn't really expensive so I figured they could have just shipped an extra part to my new address. Yes it was my fault but they should wait a day or two before shipping the item in case the buyer made a mistake and has to make a correction on their order. I picked up the part and it installed for my camera and it is working fine. Okay so it us fine thank you

I sent in my camera Canon G12 to Cameras and Parts to be repaired with payment of $89. I never got the camera back despite repeated phone calls and emails. In short Cameras And Parts in El Paso has both my camera and $89.

I ordered a repair part and admittingly I misdiagnosed the problem and I ordered the wrong part. In order to return the part I had to pay a restocking fee of 15% plus pay the shipping back. I agree in that I messed up with the part I ordered but I was on a forum and so many people were saying what I probably needed. When I went to my local repair place they said the part I ordered was not what I needed. So ivwas not wanting to pay the restocking fee but they wouldn't budge because I took the advice from people on a forum who never knew what I needed. I guess I see their point but that was a little over $5 that I shouldn't have had to pay. Next time in not guessing on what I need but rather I'd just had it fixed by a shop. I was trying to save the money and wanting to fix it myself. That wound up costing me more.

I ordered the lens assembly part from this site. They sent me the part and it arrived fast and it was well packaged. That part of it was good.

They did not however include instructions on how one would install the part. So how am I supposed to install it? The whole idea of ordering the part was to save money and not have to pay a shop to install it for me.

So my review is mixed. They had good prices and they did get it too me fast and packaged well. I can't even say if the part works since I don't have instructions on how one would install it. They should say that you need to know how to install it and that they don't give you instructions. If I can't find a shop that can install it cheap, I'm going to have to return it and pay a restocking fee like it says on their site.

I'm going to email and see what they suggest but how can you sell a dobit yourself a part and then not explain how to install it. I'm sure if I went to an auto parts store and bought a part that atleast they would tell me how it's installed like a starter or brakes or anything.

Next time I would not order parts or atleast ask if they give the instructions on how to put it in. They don't so the part is of no use to me. Now I have to find a place that can install it cheap and that ain't cool.

I have been waiting TEN MONTHS for my camera to be repaired and returned. The person I have been liaising with calls himself Stephen, at least in the e mails. He strung me along with comments such as, "Oh, you haven't received the camera yet? I'll check with the service department and check the status".
From there nothing has transpired (there were over thirty e mails sent) and now, understandably, for the last three e mails I have sent to "Stealing Stephen" then there has been nothing in response...
This is just to let others know that CAMERA AND PARTS CANNOT BE TRUSTED! I'm sorry to say that because four years ago, they handled a similar issue reasonably well - OK, it did take them four months to get the camera back. I love(d) my Canon G10 but now it's gone - into the black hole of Texas is it, wherever they call their "servicing department" home.

I'm very disappointed that they have not stood by their claims; will not respond and have basically stolen my camera. Don't fall into the same trap that I and others have!

If negative stars could be rated, I'd rate Cameras and Parts as low as allowed.

It has been almost a year. I've filed with the BBB and my Credit Card company. At least the credit card company credited my account the $150.00 charge. The report was that Cameras and Parts would not respond to their inquiry; so my refund was granted.

I've sent them numerous emails and have even contacted the El Paso police department regarding my experience with Cameras and Parts. The detective said that he gets lots of complaints about them and that sometimes he visits them because of so many complaints. He said that he'll do what he can do, even though it's really out of his authority.

So here I am, still camera-less. Cameras and Parts won't even return my camera unrepaired. I've pleaded with them several times, "Please just return my camera so that I can get it fixed elsewhere." Basically, they took my camera and apparently never had any intention of fixing it for return to me. I imagine my camera has been sold on eBay or Craigslist. It's gone forever.

Hey, check out Cameras and Parts on Facebook. You'll be glad you did before sending them your camera and money. Just do a Facebook search for Cameras and Parts.

I was ripped off. Hopefully, others will do more research than I did in order to avoid the same. I was deceived by the several glowing reports about how Cameras and Parts fixed and returned cameras. There are just too many bonafide reports of cameras being sent to them and gone forever. Way too many. You have to wonder about the people (or person) that wrote the glowing reports. They usually appear immediately after someone complains.

Tip for consumers:
Do your research. Avoid the same treatment that so many of us before you have experienced.

I had my Canon G11 repair by CamerasAndParts. The problem was that the lens would not retract. They "fixed" the problem, and found other things to charge me for while it was in the shop. I went for it, thinking of the value of the camera, and the salesmen's convincing me of the problem, that in the future, that they would not guarantee the camera in total if I did not --- I used the camera a few times, and then, on a trip overseas, just after the 90 guarantee was up, the SAME problem occured again: The lens would not retract. I had to purchase a new camera in order to record the remainder of the trip. I contacted CameraAndParts, and they told me to return the camera, and for a reduced fee, they would repair it again. I did not do so as I already had purchased a NEW camera, and I did not have the confidence that the SECOND repair on for the SAME issue, would have better consequences in the future. The shop must have used inferior parts, or did not do the repair correctly, as the repair DID NOT LAST. I do not know what else to say, as my experience speak for itself!

Had a really good experience on getting my canon fixed by them. I agree with some that communication is at most, only acceptable. I'll add though that anything I've had to send out to be fixed, communication is often non existent. Putting the communication as fair at best, everything else was perfect. When I did talk to them those, the lady I spoke with was very nice and helpful. I would recommend them.

I went through this site to get a dc / dc circuit board for my camera. Although the part had no instructions whatsoever on how to install it, I managed to get it installed. When I spoke to one of their technicians by phone, he was very helpful and walked me through it. I still dock them one star because if you by a part, I feel it should have installation instructions. I would still use them again for a future purchase.
