I've had two repairs from this place and both were fine. Some suggest poor communication from them and while I can say they didn't sweep me off my feet with communication, they were nice and polite and they do reply. One thing to note is that most all of these shops are about the same with communication. Cameras and Parts doesn't hold your hand and rub your belly during the process of the repair. Keep in mind, if you pay Canon about double the price, they won't do that either. Some people should grow up and get back to reality. For anyone out there who has a reasonable sense of mind, Cameras and Parts does a good job on repairs and they have better pricing than most any other place. I can confidently recommend them based on two good repair experiences.
BEWARE! They have had my camera since early May 2014. They answered 1 phone inquiry in early July. They have not responded to numerous phone calls, emails and a certified letter. They have my $500 camera and it appears to now be stolen as of 8/27/2014.
Hi my name is Yen. My camera get drop and is broken on my lens. I am using cameras and parts and they fix my camera. Is working good and I am happy for them. My camera is powershot sx100 canon camera and is the problem for lens error. They fix it and is working good.
I had a camera repaired through them. It just got back and it's working flawlessly. They provided great service so I'm quite happy. I recommend them highly for repairs.
My repair went extremely well. Price and speed in getting it back and the camera is performing perfect. You won't do better than this place if you need to get a camera fixed.
I chose the wrong part that I needed to fix my SD750. When I got it and I realized I had ordered the wrong part I had to send it back. They had to get it back before they'd resend the part I actually needed. I said, hey just send it now so I can fix my camera. The only way they would do that is if I paid for the new part and then they would refund the other part when they get the first part back. Okay I guess that's fair but I didn't have enough to pay for both parts so I hadyo send the wrong part I ordered back and then they gave me the credit so I could order the right part. I installed the part and it's all working so that pretty cool. I need my camera for school and now it works. Cool deal.
I just got my camera back from being repaired by them. Their service was fast and affordable. I will use them again if needed. I am very happy with the service they provided.
Got the part pretty quick but my husband doesn't know how to install it. I know some have said they don't include instructions on how to repair the camera by installing the part but we still thought it would be a little bit easier to install. I hadn't ecpected them to include instructions, we knew it was just a part. Still though, we thought it would be easier to fix the camera. My husband is handy and even he was lost. We took the part and the camera to a local repair place and they said they'll have it ready this afternoon. My point is that just be ause you research and find out what part has failed, don't expect it to be easy to install.my husband is very skilled at being handy and he couldn't install the part. The part we had got was a lens if others are thinking to repair it on their own, it's not that easy. I don't blame Cameras and Parts since they just sold me the part. Just saying, don't expect it to be easy to replace a lens. It's not that easy.
My camera broke three times on vacation. I shopped around for the cheapest repair prices and I sent it to Camerasandparts.com. It took a few weeks to get it back, but it is working now!
I found them to be great. They repaired my Canon S100 when Canon rejected fixing it. I had a nice dealing with them and best of all, my camera is working like new. Recommended Highly
Tip for consumers:
I found them to be very good all around. I recommend this site highly for those needing repair for their camera.
I ordered the battery holder door part (I think that's what is called). It came quick but it was not as easy to install as I thought. My son was able to put it on for me and it's working now.
I bought the battery door for my canon. I received it this morning and it was two seconds to install. The camera's working again. They were good to deal with.
We needed a camera repaired quick and Cameras and Parts came through. It was just two days in the shop and the camera is like new. We are thrilled with their service.
Just had a repair done with cameras and parts for an SX1 canon. The camera works awesome again. I would suggest them for quality work. I am more thanhappy with their service.
I am have a problem on my camera. They help me to know which part I need by troubleshooting it by phone. The part come and install it and is fix the problem. Cool because my camera is working again.
A part I ordered camera on monday and I tried replacing it with the old part in my camera. The zoom toggle switch is what I was trying to replace. It didn't happen since the cameras have very tiny parts inside and plenty of small screws. I stripped a few screws in the process and pretty much threw in the towel.
I was able to find a guy locally that was able to put the part in the camera. I watched him do it and now that I've seen how it goes in, I'm pretty sure one can do it with the right tools specifically the right size philips screwdriver in which I did not have.
The cam is working great again now. So I had to buy the part plus pay a local guy to fix it which he didn't charge me much to do. Like I was saying, if you have the right screwdriver and you see it done before, it doesn't seem all that difficult. If you're not too mechanical and don't have the right tools I would suggest not trying to repair one of these on your own.
A suggestion to the seller, how about including the screwdriver (just a cheapy and a do it yourself guide which you can write very easily). With those two things I would have been able to do it myself. It can be very gratifying to fix these things on your own, a screwdriver and a simple guide would have made that possible.
Cameras and Parts not only came through with my repair, they went above and beyond! I was at a birthday party when my camera was bumped out of my hand and landed on the floor and on it's lend I might add. I had my fingers crossed when I turned it on, I immediately got and error message for the lens and it was making a crazy grinding noise. My nephew who is generally really great at fixing things thought it was a lost cause. I went to the place I bought it and they told me they send them out to this place Cameras And Parts. So I went with them and everything was wonderful. I goofed up something when I did the order. They called me and she got me all fixed up. My camera is back with the lens working perfectly and I also had the wheel on the back that was hard to turn which they fixed too. The whole experience was nice and I'd really recommend this place for repairs. You'd never know my camera was ever broken. It works again like the day I bought it. I'm very happy with them and I recommend them to everybody.
My review is for a parts order which I later turned into just having them repair it, it was specially a lens unit I bought from them to install into my G12. They provided no installation instructions for the part, so therefor how can someone actually install it. I saw they have very good reviews for their actual service packages and if I had to do this again, I would just have them repair it under the service packages they offer. But since I took the plunge to instead just order the part since I thought I would save some money and time, it was tough to get it installed. In the end I sent it to them and they only charged me the difference which was nice. They did do a fine repair, perfect actually, but in the future I think they should tell people that if they just order the part and try to install it by themselves, there are no instructions. They responded in that if I ordered the part from Canon that it wouldn't have included instructions either. I said fine, but I didn't order it from Canon, I ordered it from you. I'm not trying to beat them up but rather just get my point across. When we switched it to their complete service and repair package, that went quite well, the repair was done fast and perfectly. I would use them again only for their complete repair and service packages. Ordering a part alone can be difficult because not everyone can install something like a lens without instructions on how to do so.
Tip for consumers:
If you need to have a camera fixed, their complete repair packages for $89 are truly the way to go. That will get it fixed and serviced. I do not recommend just ordering the part and trying to do it at home by yourself. I'm telling you from experience.
I recently sent my G12 in for service with Camerasandparts, and called to get some details worked out. The person I spoke with was very helpful and answered all my questions. He told me exactly how to send it and I did. He also said it wasn't necessary to send it "insured" as they cover the camera up to $600, which is a nice touch. The only possible wrinkle is while the camera was gone, I got an email from them explaining there was a potential other problem. I called and spoke to them and they explained that there was an issue with my flash. They said if I never use the flash, to not worry about it, but if I do, I "may" want to consider getting a part changed to the tune of $60 more. They said without the repair, the flash would eventually burn itself out. I authorized the repairs because if it failed, I'd have to send it back in. Was it legit, or a way to get more money? Who knows? I'm thinking it "probably" was legit because otherwise the guy wouldn't have told me not to worry about it if I never use the flash, as some people don't. Anyway, what I do know is they have fast, friendly service and I got my camera back in no time and it's working good as new.
I ordered the lens assembly part from this site. They sent me the part and it arrived fast and it was well packaged. That part of it was good.
They did not however include instructions on how one would install the part. So how am I supposed to install it? The whole idea of ordering the part was to save money and not have to pay a shop to install it for me.
So my review is mixed. They had good prices and they did get it too me fast and packaged well. I can't even say if the part works since I don't have instructions on how one would install it. They should say that you need to know how to install it and that they don't give you instructions. If I can't find a shop that can install it cheap, I'm going to have to return it and pay a restocking fee like it says on their site.
I'm going to email and see what they suggest but how can you sell a dobit yourself a part and then not explain how to install it. I'm sure if I went to an auto parts store and bought a part that atleast they would tell me how it's installed like a starter or brakes or anything.
Next time I would not order parts or atleast ask if they give the instructions on how to put it in. They don't so the part is of no use to me. Now I have to find a place that can install it cheap and that ain't cool.
During the recent trip our 4-year old Canon PowerShot G12 stopped working. A local camera store said this is an issue with a stuck shutter, very common for G12, and they would have to send it to Canon for $250 to be repaired.
Facing such cost, I have spent lots of time online, looking for advice, suggestions, and ideas on how to fix it. I had an option either to purchase a new G16 for $400, a two-year old model, with quite similar features as G12, or to take a chance and mail my G12 to Cameras and Parts for an $89 repair.
There are many reviews about C&P online, some of them not favorable, so I have decided to contact C&P and talked to the owner, Ryan, about my concerns. Ryan explained the repair process, timeframe, communication, and the 3-month warranty his company provides on the camera (not only on the repair itself, but on the camera as a whole).
Within few days of shipping the G12 to C&P I got a call back to confirm the extent of the repair and to pay for the service. My repaired camera arrived back to me very quickly, only 8 days from the day I shipped it to the day it arrived. Knocking on the wood, the camera has been working flawlessly since then.
Each person is responsible for making their own decision whether or not to use C&P. All I can say is that I am very happy with the service and the cost of the repair. I have not experienced any hiccups that some people talk about; the whole process was smooth and efficient and I would feel comfortable to send them my camera again.
Very friendly service. Affordable too. I am happy my camera is working so well now and I will recommend your site to others.
Thanks
You all repaired my Canon G9 for no power. You're service was awesome. Repaired in 2 days. A big thanks!
The repair came out perfect! They were very nice to deal with and I'd recommend them highly to anyone.
They did a repair on our SX10. They were excellent, the camera is working like new. We recommend to everyone for repairs.
The part arrived fast all the way to London. It installed very easily. They were a pleasure to do business with.
This place did a repair for me last august that I can praise them on. It came back fast and has worked terrific ever since. I then sent them a S5IS for a problem with the lens a while back. I did get it back working well like the first one but the communication was not all that great this time. Acceptable at a minimum. I would have like a call when it got to them, a call or even an email with the status, I would have liked to have know how it was coming along and everything else one would expect. I might use them again because they did a fine repair last year for me which I can attest to since my camera is working well since. The new one seems to work just as it did when new though I haven't tested it much. They should communicate better though, why not give a call when they receive it and give a call or two during the process and another when it ships. That's not asking too much. If they'd improve the communication I'd have given them a full five stars. I should probably give them three because communication is so important to me but they get four because they did come through. If you want a good repair and you are okay with not getting calls during the repair process, they will be fine for you. If you are like me and you'd like a call or two and an email as to how things are coming along, I would suggest you look for a different repair place. You might pay more elsewhere but I would think they'll call more than C&P and send more communication through the repair and how it's coming along. I'd give them an A for their work and maybe a C or a D on communication. Communication is the problem with them. The repair quality itself s excellent.
