“It was a surprise”

Aim B.

Lol, never encountered such companies which offer solution for anything you need. Wanna shop for a car? You are welcome, it's easy to do here. Wanna issue a credit card or open savings account? Not a biggie, there is everything for it here too. Super versatile platform, I wanted to open a checking account and Capitalone has helped me in this issue. So I am thankful to them for being such a robust platform, it was surprising to find it, for real.

“This bank refuses to work with their customers”

Brigitte T.
9/10/24

I have been a loyal and good customer for years and have several accounts in good standing. One of my credit cards has an interest rate over 26%. I have not charged additional items and paying over the minimum. I've asked the bank to help me with that interest rate and they will not. I am moving all of my accounts to a bank that cares about their customers.

CapitalOne credit cards just charged me $46.39 for a late fee and 28% interest, because I paid the bill ($239.00) on the day it was due, but it was after 8:00 PM. $46.39 on something I bought for $239.00. They are disgustingly GREEDY. I would not recommend CapitalOne to anybody. As you can see from this site, Out of a possible 5 stars, they got a rating of 1.15 stars. This is not the first time this has happened. When I called to ask for a refund, I honestly could not understand the man on the telephone. They would not refund the $46.39. I had 2 of their credit cards. I canceled both.

I am so disappointed in the service by Capital One! There was a dispute with another company who withdrew money from our account. Capital one has been working on this and we have using our credit card with the extra security tip given by Capital One! After two weeks of using the card after the dispute, I went to the grocery store to buy groceries for my kids and the card was declined! I call
Capital One and they say because of the dispute they cancelled my card without intimating me! This is not
Acceptable! They say I will receive the card in 10'days! I appreciate them giving me a new card but not cancelling the old one without any intimation!

After being accepted for a credit card, with a $30k limit, I used it to charge for about a month. No problems. Booked tickets and traveled to a foreign country. Again no problems... For a few days. Then it stopped working. No notice, just stopped. App and account just showed "restricted." Called to get the restriction lifted, thinking they'd flagged a foreign charge as fraud (with no way to tell them I'm traveling, they claim it's unnecessary), and they want: copies of passport, birth certificate, SSN card, utility bill, and more, all while I'm traveling. Non-negotiable; they cannot accept anything except all those documents. Capital One was perfectly happy to strand me in a foreign country with no credit card, despite having worked and processed charges for over a month, and several days of traveling. DO NOT USE.

This credit card company is the absolute worst.
They alerted me of a fraudulent charge which was great.
They then froze the account and said they were sending me a new card after I went through their verification process, which I did. That was on July 17th
I was supposed to get my new card with the new account # in 2 days which I didn't.
I did a follow-up call a week later to find out where the new card was & I found out that they never sent it & I would have to go through the whole verification process again. WTF I am not going through this again. I said screw it the bill each month finds me I gave you all the info and I can't give you the 3 digit security code if I don't have the new card. So I hung up.

I called again today same BS I informed a supervisor by the name of Irving ( a phillipino with the name Irving right). I went over very thing even read off the bill that I just received in the mail today 07/29/2024. He wants the whole security process again. I told him I have been a customer for over 30 years and I am not giving out my cell number again and if you can't send me a new card that I just verified everything on the new bill you can cancel my account after you take off all the points that I have accumulated.
I was told that can take up to 60 days to clear.
I told I am just paying what is owed after the point credit so don't give me that BS I have done it many times.
I told Irving that he can have fun explaining how he lost a customer of over 30 + years to the CEO after I contact him. So just cancel my account and never ever contact me again.

Tried to open a 11 month CD today call CUSTOMER CIRCUS to get answers and help with online forms.
End up in Philippines The woman I spoke with could hardly speak english or answer questions had to keep repeating myself. Kept using the excuse she had a bad connection. Asked to get transferred to supervisor get transferred after 7 min. To Maryland which asked after 5 min on phone got disconnected by them. Stay away total incompetence in this company.

If I could give them negative stars I would! If you're a veteran I highly advise you to look elsewhere! Go to Navy Federal or USAA and don't look back! I have recorded calls asking them if they accept certain forms of payment because the language in the credit card contract was ambiguous. They assured me it was ok to try to use the form of payment that I asked them about and when I did it they restricted my account and cut off my cards without even warning or calling me and right when I needed them most. They even rejected me after I called promptly to rectify the problem. Luckily I have American Express or my car repairs would have came straight out of my own pocket. Don't use any services offered by these people! Again if you're a veteran stick to Navy Federal, USAA, PenFed! They'll give you higher credit lines and they actually respect you! If you're not military then go to Sam's Club and apply for their master card! Another non military option is the Upgrade credit card. They each have higher limits and they don't cut your card off without speaking to you to rectify the issue! Capital One is not reliable and how they treat their customers should be illegal.

Tip for consumers:
Run away!

They don't allow deposits by check or debit card because they want to be able to steal from the people. I mean why else would they not allow deposits any other way but then take payments by check or debit? They say they are recording you on the phone but if you want to record them being dishonest then do it without telling them or they will not talk to you. Only scum of the earth conduct themselves like this. Here is the article proving they don't want people with money using their cards they want to live off the backs of the poor. SO GROSS. https://newrepublic.com/article/*******/worked-capital-one-five-years-justified-piling-debt-poor-customers If you see stars instead of numbers after the word article in the link the numbers are one five five two one two or google the article.

Unable to handle. Long wait customer service will not stop talking about using the internet when a call was placed on purpose. The damaged card reader took weeks to arrive. Inability to access online account without requiring several steps. It's a terrible situation, but I'm grateful to admk(ltd) for their magic, which allows me to get all of my lost stuff back.

Capital One is by far the worst credit card/ bank I have ever dealt with. I have Wells Fargo, Citi, Chase, Discover, Synchrony, American Express, Bank of America, Best Buy, BMO, Home Depot, Lowes, JC Penny, Target, and US Bank and have never experienced anything like the treatment from Capital One.

About 15 years ago I had a credit card dispute in which a company shipped me the incorrect part for my car then told me they did not in fact have the correct part for my car and charged me a 30% restocking fee for returning the item despite it being their mistake. I opened a dispute with Capital One, and eventually, Capital One ruled in the companies favor and told me to pay the 30% restocking fee. Zero customer service, the lady on the phone yelled at me and hung up.

Now, just today, I looked at my savings account and noticed I received a $300 bonus for opening my new account and making a $50,000 deposit. Not the $750 bonus that was promised to me when I opened the account. I made the $50,000 deposit and left it in the account over 90 days as the terms stated, but I didn't get what I was told. So I called. Apparently, somewhere in the fine print it states that you must maintain the $50,000 balance for 90 days passed some magical 15-day funding period, so basically, it's 105 days, not 90 as stated. My balance went to $49,911 on the 104th day after the $50,000 was deposited, so I fell into the tier that receives a $300 bonus, not a $750 bonus. I lost $450 of bonus money by just ONE day and less than $100 under the correct balance, and they wouldn't budge.

I closed mine and my wife's checking, savings, and credit cards on the spot. I will absolutely NEVER deal with this company again.

I had 2 transactions flagged for fraud in 4 days. I use my card to pay for work travel expenses and earn points to personally travel for free. I had to buy 2 plane tickets for 2 different work trips on my debit card not earning points. I called in for the second plane ticket payment not going through. The customer service rep "rain" was very rude, did not solve the problem and rushed me off the phone. $1300 of plane tickets in 4 days on my debit card not my venture card earning points... Called back a second time today to try and solve this issue for future purchases and I have not been on the phone for 42 mins without a single person coming back to the line for over 30 mins to check in on me...at this point I will close the account, and open one with better customer service and will earn points to travel.

I've lost more money than I should have on this platform. I had to discuss it with a family member who suggested "RegainOrg.Info while obtaining my money back with them has been simple.

This is a dishonest company that uses a lot of gimmicks to keep and lure customers into their web of Credit Card purchases. Although I have made payments on time every month, I have a low Credit Card line of credit($750), which they refuse, under any circumstances to increase! To make matters worse, they recently sent me a letter that read: "Congratulations! You have been approved for a $200 Credit Card limit, as long as you deposit $200 into this account, and accept the interest rate of 30% plus!
I was, obviously, offended.

IN ADDITION TO ALL OF THIS, THE CAFES ARE A STUPID IDEA. Even though, by using your Capital One Card, you can get 50% off a Cup of Coffee in The Cafe, the reality is: Who Needs It? Wouldn't it be better to have REAL AND EFFECTIVE CUSTOMER SERVICE? Instead of getting all Customer Inquiries and Complaints sent off to The Phillipines -- or Colombia? WHAT A COSMIC JOKJE!

Don't patronize Capital One....

We bought a car, and they financed it we needed our plate transferred to another state and within one month we paid it off completely first of all they lost my title and then they never changed my address which I told them 10 times to change the address I still can't get my plate for my car and my temp. Tags ran out so now I'm without a car. I ask them to send us the lien they have on the car and they sent it to the wrong address of course they never did the change of address I can't believe they are still in business I'm glad we paid off the car and never want to deal with them again, the people that work for them don't really understand what you're saying I just got off the phone again and they said they will try and send it overnight today is Thursday and they said for me to call them back on Monday, for a tracking number that is not over night. I give up on this I think I need an attorney to help me out on this one.

I tried to stop a payment that was cancelled. They were no help at all. I cancelled the card because it was going to get stopped one way or the other. They called back the charges of my purchases and didn't pay for a charge of $500 that they were suppose to cover and charged me for it. So did the new credit card for the same charge. When you owe them there is a deadline but not that way when they owe you. Stay away from Capital One. Discover is the best.

My account was put on restrictions because Capital One assumed that i stole somebody social security number who was deceased. Notice I've had this number since birth, and all of a sudden out of nowhere Capital One closed my bank account with funds in it, and suggested I go to a local branch which is 3 1/2 hours away from my residence to verify my social security number and Driver License to see if I'm a real person. No kind of heads up was giving at all, they just closed my account with my FUNDS in it. I'm very very frustrated because I have bills to pay, I have items I have to get for my son graduation, and for them to make it seem like I stole somebody else social security number is crazy, especially since I had this account for at least 4-5 years. Now I have to go out of my way, away from work, with no money, to get to Atlanta to verify me.

I don't think it's asking too much of a credit card company to have online chats available for customer service. First of all, you don't have to confirm your identity because you logged in. Second, you don't have to go through telephone torture. Third, if this is Capital One's way of saving money, it would be akin to a bottled water company saving money by bottling fresh toilet water. If I'm banking online, then I expect to find online employees to chat with. For all I care, Capital One's inhuman chat bot named Eno needs to die. I think he's already sick with a virus. You know, a computer virus. Because every time I ask him for help, he gives me a "Contact us" link that lists a bunch of phone numbers. What is this, "Little House on the Prairie"? Phone calls are so yesterday. I'm not going to call. I'll write them a letter and send it to them by boat over the ocean. That would probably be more effective, since it's obvious that no one's home.

Well, DUH!

So, I opened a Capital One 360 Checking Account with the promise that I'd be given $350 after switching over my direct deposits. I think you were supposed to have over X dollars direct deposited on two consecutive months. Upon opening the account, I immediately had my direct deposit rerouted from my bank to Capital One. Unfortunately, it took a month too long for my payer to get with the program, and Capital One stiffed me. What else could I do but put in the request the same day I opened the account?! I bet Capital One knew that many people would struggle to get their direct deposits rerouted that soon. Shame on them. And then the [bleep] on the phone was really mean to me and told me that I "didn't qualify" for the $350. I told him to close my account, and he did; but then I realized that I should reroute my direct deposit AGAIN before closing the account, so I asked him to NOT close the account.

"I already closed it!"

"Well, unclose it! You just read something that said you can unclose it!"

"I didn't say I could unclose it! I said... uh... that you could still access the account for a while. Yeah. That's what I said."

"But how will I get my direct deposit next month?"

"Who cares? You just ordered me to close your account."

"No big deal," I said. "I don't really need that income anyway. I mean, really, who needs to get paid, am I right?"

"I suggest that you contact your payer as soon as possible, ma'am."

"Well, DUH!" I yelled.

He seemed stupefied. (I don't think it took much.) "What... what do you mean?" he asked.

"What do you think I'm going to do as soon as I get off the phone?! I don't want to deal with misrouted income!"

"I don't like your attitude," he said.

"Good! Go [bleep] yourself."

"Well! I never!"

"Figures! Give it a try."

Click.

I immediately logged in and canceled the transfer of my balance to my other bank. Now they can't close my account because they still have my money. I mean, they can try. Good thing my parents are both lawyers.

Was I mean to him? [Bleep] yes. I jumped through hoops to reroute my direct deposit, and I got nothing for it. Nothing. After I get my money in order and close this account, I'll never do business with Capital One again.

Tip for consumers:
This would make a fine class action lawsuit for those of us who did everything we could to get the $350, but were then stiffed.

I have had capital one for a few years and all of a sudden my account was closed without notification, my payments kept returning even though I made sure the payment funds were available for the next day which is when it usually takes it out. There was no call or follow up regarding these actions and the only feedback was to reapply! I will not be reapply and Capital One has lost a valuable customer! Hope this helps someone else.

I came by to log in to my account on the mobile app and i was quickly noticed that both of my checking and credit card account being closed for no reasons. Mind you i never had any communications about the closure of the bank account and the credit card which i assume they are lacking in communications. I only been with them for only 2 years and since then on today as of June 20,2024 they decided to closed both of my account without any reasons and they accused me that i had an unusual activity which is false because i never done anything that violates their "terms and condition' or their stupid "relationship of banking". So here goes my horrible day, so when i spoke to the customer service (by the way they were horrible and they didn't help crap about anything to resolve my problem) and while i was on the phone with them explaining my issues with both of the account being closed for unreasonable reasons to the customer service, all they gave me was they couldn't do anything about it and was told that they couldn't provide any information to why it was closed. Instead, they insisted that i would wait for a letter in the mail within 10 days just to clarify of why my account checking and my credit card being closed and that as mentioned they couldn't do anything about it. I always pay them on time and full every month and the moment i was about to pay the remaining balance just so i could use to pay my bills, they have restricted my credit card which by the way means they closed it and now i have to wait until every thing is paid off and while my bank account with them have also been restricted and was in the process of closing as well. I explained to all the customer service i spoken to why my account was closed in the first place for both my checking account and the credit card account, they refused to give any further information as stated they wanted to insist me to wait for the stupid dumb letter to arrive for the reasons why it was closed. SO OVERALL, to anyone that wants to bank with this crappy disgusting bank I WOULD ABSOLUTELY NOT RECOMMEND THIS BANK AT ALL COST AND NEVER WILL RECOMMEND THIS BANK TO ANYONE INCLUDING FAMILY, FRIENDS, STRANGERS, ETC. TO HOW HORRIBLE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AND THAT BANK ITSELF CAN GO F**K ITSELF AND ROT TO HELL BECAUSE THEY ARE DISASTROUS AND ATROCIOUSLY DISGUSTING THAT THEY WOULD DO THIS TO PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF AS A LOYAL CUSTOMER. RIDICULOUS AND TOTALLY ABSURD. I HOPE THAT CAPITAL ONE WILL LOSE MORE CUSTOMERS THAN TO GAIN CUSTOMERS BECAUSE OF HOW HORRIBLE THESE MONEY GRABBERS THEY ARE TO LURE CUSTOMERS IN AND THEN TREATS THEM UNFAIRLY. DISGUSTING AND COMPLETELY INJUSTICE.

Tip for consumers:
ITS TERRIBLE AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS THE MOST WORST AND THE MOST DISGUSTING SERVICE ON THE FACE OF THIS F**KING PLANET. I WOULD NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER EVER RECOMMEND THIS DISGUSTING BANK TO ANYONE EVEN TO FAMILIES AND FRIENDS. THEY WILL CLOSE YOUR ACCOUNT WITHOUT YOU REALIZING IT AND YOU WILL END UP JUST LIKE WHAT HAPPEN TO ME AND THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND COMPLETELY UNETHICAL OF THEM.

I have a $1,000 credit in it with Capital One with a minimum payment of about $30 a month set up on auto pay. To get my balance down I gave them $250 in March before my due date. On my due date they took an additional $250 without my permission. They took my money instantly but telling me they're going to mail me a check between 10 days and 2 weeks. This is causing my bank account to be overdrawn. Whatever you do do not sign up for autopay

To recover your account appears to be the biggest hurdle with Capital One. I simply changed my phone number and have lost access to my account, and they will only allow verification through the old phone number, which I no longer possess. The only way to contact support is through a telephone call that takes 20 minutes. I have also had multiple experiences with rude support staff who talk over me when I am just providing them with all the information for better assistance, and they treat you as if you are a child. Even then, in the end, you don't receive any help but just get a case started that never gets resolved. I've been trying to access my cards and can only use my phone to pay. Even when the phone number is updated, it won't allow it for verification. One reason why I became delinquent on one card was due to the difficulty of regaining access. It almost seems as if it is either intentionally designed that way or the result of extremely negligent customer service. But either way, it's unacceptable.
