This company is a scam. Every time I call I talk to someone who does not understand me or what i am asking for. I will always recommend away from Capital One. Chase Sapphire, and American Express Cards are better. I will refer all family and clients away from Capital One.

They will hold your money hostage. Paid the bill in full and they put a restriction on my account saying it was a fraudulent payment. Need to verify the payment. This has happened twice. Once when I paid the balance in full from my own checking account and when a loan company paid the bill. They are the absolute worst and I will never work with them again.

Poor customer service
January 29, 2023

First of all, I like to say that I've had a couple of accounts with capital one, one being an auto loan that was paid off in full and the other being a credit card, where I've had hiccups here and there, but I literally ran thousands of dollars through there and paid my accounts. Sometimes they were behind yes and I had a higher interest rate. But I always got the runaround when I called her customer service about how many days will it take to process my money my payment to go through but yet when I actually got to the end and I close my account, it took the only two days to close my account and have a process with my credit report to credit karma monitoring but yet it took them weeks and months to process payments for your credit score to update I find that very interesting. I find it interesting that when you question them about it their reps have no answer. Good luck to you all. I never do any business and I look forward to seeing you all go out of business.

I never thought I'd be writing a review for a bank, but I feel like I should warn people so it doesn't happen to them. I deposited a cashier's check into my Capitol One savings account and they marked it as fraudulent. This was already pretty ridiculous because it was a cashier's check from another bank I had an account at. But rather than just not accepting the deposit, they put a hold on the money and my account. Every time I called they told me there was nothing they could do and it was my problem. I talked to multiple supervisors who all told me it was my fault and refused to help. This money was literally all I had in the world for the next 3 months and they just held it hostage. Fortunately, because I guess they hadn't processed the check or something, I was able to take it back to the original bank it was from and cash it or else I literally would've been homeless. I then continued to call and beg them to just cancel the check and release my account but they again refused and said there was nothing they could do. So while I fortunately got my check money in cash, all the other money I had in my capital one account is being held indefinitely. It's been almost 7 months and they still won't remove the hold that prohibits me from withdrawing or using my money in any way.
Please do not bank with them. They will not help you if anything goes wrong. I didn't even know a bank could just hold my money hostage on a whim but apparently they can and it's an actual nightmare.

What DISPUTE!
January 28, 2023

I started with Capital One while I was getting my credit repaired. I stayed within my credit utilization and have always paid twice within my billing cycle. I received 2 credit increases. Recently after having my Capital One credit card for over 2 years I asked for another credit increase. DENIED! So I filed a dispute to which I have not heard from. When I called and spoke with a representative ID# JLX959, who stated that my dispute was still under review. But Capital One was quick to send me a denial letter within 24 hours. I have never been late, no interest charges added because I pay my balance off and I pay on time. But these people want to issue me an apology for their inconsistence business practices. And want me to believe the lies they tell to get you off the phone in a hurry. They report inaccurate information on credit wise but will send you a meaningless alert. It is against the law to report inaccurate information and this information has been inaccurate for the passed two years of having my Capital One credit card. And every time I mention this to them they hurry up and say I have to submit in writing a dispute. Why? When you can call Credit Wise who is affiliated with Transunion. The lies and more lies these people at Capital One tell. So my next complaint will be with Consumer Affairs.

I contacted customer.service to initiate an immediate block on my account for any request by Verizon. I was informed that the block would not initiate until three business days elapsed. As a longtime account holder,I fail to understand why the bank would allow access to my account prior to three days. I am the account holder and reserve the right to manage my own account, and not be subjected to frivolous bank policy geared solely for bank interest. You do it to discourage any customer recourse simply because you can. It's no wonder why your ratings are so poor. Customer service was once geared for the customer, however recently,Things Changed!. It is disappointing and unacceptable that an account holder is subject to this lack of customer service. Simple request.ignored.TYPICAL programmed response.

Cold blooded. They clearly do not care about us as individuals. It really hurts to know that a company I've been with for so many years could care less about me. I'll never do business like them, or with them again.

A large group of fraudulent charge appeared on my card this company agreed they were fraudulent but did not remove the full value of the charge leaving me to pick up the rest would not recommend them to anyone and advise everyone to jump ship before you get taken to the cleaners also was a secure card so they will get the money and they claim I owe them even though they agreed I didn't

Terrible Service
January 20, 2023

Did little or nothing to assist when my account was hacked. Their system did not pick up multiple Oklahoma charges even though I live in CA and have never been to OK. Clearly hacked by an employee as the debit card fraudulently used was in my desk drawer and had NEVER been used by me. Told me to wait 10 days to have $1000 theft corrected.

I sent my concerns about a download from Big Tax Home(Dont us them ever) to Capital One. I did not receive the product that I sent for but an earlier version of Turbotax. Capital One looked into this for 10 seconds and then decided to fully back the merchant I sent several letters to them but they were inflexible for my $89.00.
DO NOT EXPECT CAPITAL ONE TO BACK YOU IN ANY WAY EVER

I have reached out the Capital One numerous times to address why they are holding my payments. The first complaint I put in was on January 4th in that era after I went through four days of freezing and not eating as a over the road truck driver what Capital One held my payments and was aware that this was my only credit card in my possession. Numerous people have died from being frozen and stuck in their vehicles in that nasty winter storm and capital one has showed me as a customer that they do not care about their customers only them that they want their money. On January 18th I was told when I called in about 12:35 a.m. that likely no one will be calling me back. I told the representatives they did not care if I died or anything I would just put another dead black man as long as they got their money that's all they cared about. When I sit back and look at everything I went through and all of deaths that happened around me for people being stuck in vehicles and Frozen dying of the cold I am blessed that I made it out alive but the treatment by Capital One showed they don't care what do you have supervisors and staff telling you I understand I understand when it's not them that went through the situation or have ever went through that situation they do not know what honesty is.

I rated Capital One with one star as the lowest technically they should be getting negative five stars for their treatment of my situation

Buying A CD
January 17, 2023

It has been over 2 weeks and Capital One still has not been able to complete my CD. I did the application and provided my bank information so they could pull the funds. I had to verify 2 small deposits to my account to show that they had the right link and I did that. Days passed and the funds remained in by old account. After many calls, finally Capital One said that there was a computer problem with my account. Rather than them fixing the problem, I have been asked to start all over. I went to them because I thought it would be easy. It has been anything but easy.

Putting holds on my paycheck mobile deposits, with a company I have been with for 14 years. Plus I have been a Capital One customer for almost 4 years, so there is NO need to place holds! Also, I have been locked out of my account on several occasions based on "unusual activity". No pre warning, nothing. Their customer service is THE most infuriating I have ever experienced. I truly believe they just grabbed random people of the streets of Costa Rica and said Have at it! Plus, they do not have a physical bank where I can go in if I need to speak with someone. Needless to say, I will be closing my checking and savings accounts and moving on to a reputable credit union.

Incompetent.
January 16, 2023

They are completely incompetent. I have a saving account there and for the life of me i cant find were to buy a CD with in that account. Call customer support and navigate the worst phone system ever that does not recognize any commands. Support tells me i must not log into my account but go to main page and then click on the CDs and then make a new account at that point it will ask do you have account yup now log in WTH now a huge verification process Why i already have account but ok Take a photo of your ID and the system fails to read over and over. Back to support another 1/2 on the phone and they get me to approve and now its asking me what i want to set up Checking Saving Credit card Um notice non of those are CD. Call support again only to have the system hang up on me repeatedly. This is the worst I have had many diff bank accounts in all my years and the level of stupid this place is floors me.

Most people don't carry their SS card with them or a copy of a utility bill. Even if you notify Capital 1 you are traveling they will lock your card at the drop of a hat!. Then they will require both items listed above and a lot more to unlock your card. Better to carry other credit cards and leave this one home. They are proud to advertise no international fees but you don't get a chance to incur any!

My daughter is an a minor and also an authorized user on my account. I added her to help build her credit. Her name is misspelled on the account. Even though I am the primary user, her father, and she is only 15 years old, they are telling me that she has to call herself to have it fixed. It was a fun 30 minute conversation talking to a foreigner that couldn't even pronounce my name.

Husband was given a card
January 11, 2023

My husband was given a card, he tried to set up his account and there was an account already set up. He called, they just said oh you must have done it. He has never had this card before. Then there was fraud alert on it, someone attempted to us it. They contacted him about it. Since it has been nothing but trouble and he has never used this card, He figured forget it. He called to cancel the card for his safety. They charged him 80$ to cancel it, and then told him if he doesn't pay it he will be taken to collections! Are you kidding me? I have been a customer for years, and i think now after this, i will be cancelling as well. I do not want to support this kind of company!
