Ripoff. 26% is outrageous for anyone. How can you ever pay this off? Is this even legal? It should not be. I've made payments every month on time.

Up until now, I had used CareCredit card several times through my dentist office. However, I moved last year, and had been looking for a dentist for sometime. I recently settled on one in my new town. They told me what it would cost for xrays and cleaning, and suggested I call CareCredit to ensure my card was still good. So I called this month. Got a man. I told him the situation, and gave him my info. He said my card was still valid. I gave him my new address also.
So, I go to the dentist, the 13th of this month. When the person at the office put my CareCredit through for the $349 payment, it came back DENIED. I called right then and asked why. The lady told me I had closed my account. I told her I never closed the account. She said I had to apply for a new card. Pretty crazy when I had a card for a number of years, and as they could see, always paid on time and never longer than 12 months. I told her I had been told the card was valid, and now, did this not only leave me very embarrassed at a new doctor's office, but as a senior, having to dish out $349 was even more difficult. She made no effort to help me, every thing was very matter of fact and yes I did close my account, pretty much saying I was not told what I was by the other rep, a man.
I find it hard to recommend this company to anyone after being treated as such. Especially, when you have been a very good customer.

Almost all of the reviews I have read about CareCredit are complaints from people who do not understand how promotional rates work and never bothered to read the information mailed to them.
I first heard of CareCredit through Synchrony Bank when my dog needed surgery. I applied for and received the credit within minutes, right there in the vet's office. When the card came, I read over the information and made sure I paid it off within the time frame we had agreed upon. The payment amount on your bill is the MINIMUM payment required. How someone cannot figure out for themselves how much to pay is beyond me. If you have a 12 month promotional rate, divide the total balance by 12 and pay that amount each month. It's really very simple. People don't want to put any effort into understanding their personal responsibility in matters, and want to blame others for their own laziness.
Last Christmas, I also applied for an Amazon Store Card through Synchrony Bank. I got a promotional rate that worked just like CareCredit. I received an email today warning me that my promotional period would expire next month, so I know I need to pay it off. You see, if you pay online, you can go into your account and allocate how much of your payment goes to the promotional rate and how much goes to other balances. You can set up alerts to remind you when promotional rates expire - lots of things.
So, thank you, Synchrony Bank, for all the interest-free loans! Or perhaps I should be thanking all the one-star reviewers who end up paying all the interest because they couldn't be bothered to take care of their own business. Without people like you paying all that interest, the bank would be out of business!

You get the 0% promotional balance on some of the purchases and set up the account on auto payment. For this card, Synchrony bank does not give you any notifications on when your promotional balance will expire as most other cards do. For example, Amazon.com store card, which is issued by the same bank, can be set up to notify you that there is a promotional balance expiring soon. Not with Care Credit. I had a purchase of about $800 for my prescription glasses from Lens Crafters, I've been paying this bill on auto payments for months and suddenly my balance increased by $188. I called customer services, but they told me that 30-days have passed and they cannot reverse my money. I consider this a legal form of theft.
Another frequent issue with this card is that not all medical purchases are covered by the 0% benefit and there is no way for you to know if you don't ask. The medical facility must be registered with Care Credit in order for you to get the benefit of 0% financing. If they are not registered and you pay with Care Credit thinking that you will pay no interest, very soon you will discover a high-interest charge (mine was 26.99%) in your next statement. Frequently the clerks at the medical facilities don't know if the business is registered with Care Credit or not because the card has the Master Card logo and will go through without any warning.
After paying much higher interest than from any other credit card that I have in my possession, I decided to pay off my entire Care Credit balance and stop using them.
Now I even have bad feelings about the Amazon.com card because it is issued by the same Synchrony Bank.

If you're paying for two different promotional balances, steer clear of this company or pay them off early. They're in complete control of where they allocate funds and will do it in such as way that benefits them and gets you left over with massive interest charges.
In 2018, I had two promotional balances. One for 12 months and the other 24 months - which I was under the impression was a 12 month one for next year. This is my first time dealing with credit card payments. I thought that would give me plenty of time to pay one off and then the other. But as it turns out they were splitting the payments.
Understandable, my fault.
Now 2020, I got two promotional balances again. The 24 month one ending this year and a 6 month one made in February. The only way to allocate payments according to them, is having to contact a Customer Service representative. So I set up the payment online and called them to let them now how I wanted to divide the money between the two promotional balances.
I check today, and they've not split the payment at all. The February balance is untouched and all of the payment went into the 24 month one. Suspiciously the one later to expire. At the very least, what happened to making the minimum payment for the other? Will this incur a late fee?
If this isn't a red flag on their customer service I don't know what is! If you're currently paying them, do what you can to pay it off early. Get another credit card with 0% APR, it can't possibly be any worse than this company. Do yourself a favor and GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN. Everything is intentionally unclear, made difficult, and the site and invoices make it confusing - as if it was never designed to handle more than one balance and display allocated funds. So pay close attention to everything. It's only designed so the customer suffers in the end. There is no support or trust. I wouldn't wish this on my own worst enemy!

This company completely screwed me over. The company is manned by minimum wage people who just don't care. The company needs to tank. Any other payment method is better. I would rather go into credit card debt then deal with these jerks.
Let me tell my story.
My dog needed emergency surgery. I was approved for $5,500, which should have been enough. My dog had complications and needed a second surgery and MRI. I called Care Credit the same day and had my limit raised to $10,000. So my dog survived and is doing well. My husband waits outside with my dog while I pay the bill. I went to the first desk and explained that I had raised my credit limit to $10,000. They tried to add the balance to my loan but could not get the promotional code to work because the computer didn't understand that the additional $2,500 was part of the same bill. I call Care Credit while waiting. The young lady told me to have them back out the $5,500 and then charge the corrected amount of $7,800. Of course it didn't work because it takes time for the refund to show. But the simpleton that helped me was too stupid or tell me that. Most likely she just didn't care. So I call back and get another person. That girl states that there is nothing they can do. I demand a manager. They manger says there is nothing she can do. I then demand they up my limit. That is the only way they can make this up to me because they gave me the wrong information and screwed me over, after I had gone to all of the trouble to get the credit increase days before. Of course they would not raise my credit and I have excellent credit. I refinanced the loan the same day with a more reputable bank. I will never let this horrible company make one cent off of me.
Oh, keep in mind that the whole time that drama was going on at the front desk my husband is waiting outside with a drugged up dog who is supposed to be recovering from surgery.
I told them how they screwed me over and they denied it all. Thank goodness I had another payment method or I don't know what would have happened.
AGAIN, THESE ARE HORRIBLE HUMAN BEINGS. THEY ARE TRASH. DO NOT USE THEM. Use any other method. Please learn from my story.

U paid off $25 above my 5000 balance to assure it would be paid off even if a finace charge occured. The app showed a zero balance. Welp, unbeknownst to be, they added a charge of $2. By the time i realized there was a problem it was 6 months later and the $2 grew to $20 something. They had reported me as deliquent and refused to take the negative report off my credit report even though i paid it off, again! It negatively affected my credit score making it difficult to find housing in a competative environment. ALL OVER $2 THEY ADDED AFTER I PAID MY 5K BALANCE OFF! CareCredit DOES NOT CARE!

May 15,2015 I placed $2,000.00 on my Care Credit card. They have been pleasant to work with. I have read the other reviews on here and have had the completely opposite experience with this company. My credit plan was 0% financing for 12 months (0% APR if paid off before the 12 months. After 12 months it would increase to 26%). I understood the loan that I had signed up. The woman that helped me establish the account was wonderful over the phone. I applied a week ahead of when I had to pay at the office and was given a $4,500.00 balance. I then used the card and it went as smoothly as other credit cards. The charge was on the account within 24 hours and the next statement started in the beginning of June. I could make a payment online, over the phone, or through the mail by sending in a check. I preferred to pay online and the statements showed up each month under the statement tab. I have only called twice and both times if I had any questions the automated system would ask me what I was calling about and then I would say my question and ask for a representative. It would roughly take top 5-10 minutes to get a person on the other line. They would ask a few verifying questions and then I would be able to ask my question. I have also used the CHAT online and I find it easier to get to the point and answer. I will use this loan company in the future. I paid off the credit of $2000. 00 in the beginning of August and have received a conformation letter. I did request this through the online CHAT. I have not had a bad experience and if you might have issues with credit or a loan this might not be a great card. They give you a few choices for the loan, different APR's for the length of months, and the monthly balances change on length of credit. CareCredit was a great card to use because my regular credit company would have charged interest on the 2 months it took to pay off. Thank you CareCredit for the great experience!

This company is skilled at collecting interest on "no interest promotional periods". I have several "promotional interest free charges" due to my fur babies getting sick so often and so expensively. Although I have outstanding credit with this company, I have to carefully watch EACH AND EVERY MONTH how they are applying payments. Even in the face of an expiring term, they will NOT pay on that charge, UNLESS you call in and insturct them like a parent to a child. They REFUSE to confirm anything with you. When I ask they confirm the amount I want allocated to a certain charge, their response is, I cannot tell you anything. Ummm, excuse me, but that is code for I will allocate your payment after you bother us enough in a given month. Oh, by the way, you are required to wait AFTER payment is made, then call them and instruct how the payment should be applied. That is, Dear Company, I have a promotional interest free charge expiring this month could you kindly apply the payment that I emptied my bank account to make to that charge? Oh and thank you Dear Company for taking up 2 billing cycles to complete that transaction so that you can collect your interest. Stay far from this company, they very unethical to say the very least about them.

WOULD NOT GIVE ANY STAR IF I COULD.
THE WORSE CREDIT CARD EVER!
DO NOT FALL INTO IT! :(( (((((
After many years of loyal relationship with care credit card, they treated me like nothing and canceled my credit card without consulting me about a missed payment back in December 2020.
My bank account was fraud and I needed to cancel it immediately. As soon as I got the new number, I deleted the old number and add the new one in my auto pay of care credit card. I have been with this card for many years and always used auto pay. Since they were unable to get the payment for the month of December 2020, They closed my account without any inquiry about the lack of payment. Just now I got a text message about it. When I called to see what was the problem, they treated me like I was a bad payer... a financial delinquent if I can say. The agent and the manager both behaved the same way. Customer service was horrible and I am afraid this can affect my great credit score. I am a very responsible individual and never missed a payment in my entire life. YOU DO NOT TREAT YOUR GOOD CLIENTS IN THIS WAY. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! I WILL NEVER USE THIS CARD AGAIN.

I applied for Care Credit at my local vet, who recommended it to help aid in the dental surgery of my dog. So I activate my card and used it for the examination fee. I called Care Credit a couple weeks later and let them know that my dog was getting surgery. There seemed to be no issue. The representative said my bill wasn't due until next week, even though I somehow accrued a $38 late fee, which he said would be taken off on my next billing cycle. So I thought, okay - I'll get my dog's teeth cleaned and pay the bill next week.
The day of surgery comes along. I got to my vet to pay with my Care Credit card. It gets declined. They call Care Credit. A representative requests to speak with me. They tell me I have to pay my bill first before using my card again. I started to argue but because time was of the essence I said -fine - I'll give you the minimum payment early and swipe my card for the dental surgery after we get off the phone.
He says - no you'll have to wait at least 48 hours so the payment can process. Then he started talking about needing to pay for the late fee as well. I told him the late fee was taken off and this isn't the time for my card not to work. I have a sleepy pup who needs to go home and a vet that is looking at me like I'm dining and dashing.
He kept saying, "Yes, ma'am I completely understand" then goes into the - this is an attempt to collect a debt spill. I was so embarrassed, not to mention stressed from my dog having to be put under. The vet let me take my pup home and said I could pay at the end of the week. I thought I wasn't going to be able to take my dog home. It was needlessly upsetting.
I went home and made a payment. I called two days later and it still had not posted to my account. I am still waiting. Each time I call I have to talk to someone I can barely understand. I feel bad because I don't want to be rude but I have to keep asking them to slow down and speak up.
The account is run through Synchrony Bank and it is obvious from the consumer reviews, all over the Internet, that this company is a scam under the guise of medical credit. It should not be widely offered and I completely regret signing up for it.

I had excellent credit, then they send me a new card and said it was for an upgrade, I was randomly selected cause I was a great paying customer, and my credit was above 768... Well I get the card and activate it, thinking my old card wouldn't be good... well 30 days later, I get a credit alert that something has change on my credit, I check credit karma, an sure enough, Care Credit closed my acct! And my score dropped 93 pts! I ws livid, tried calling transunion care credit, they were just like oh we didt close your acct, I'm like, I'm looking right at it... CLOSED OCT 10TH 2017! Long story short, all they said was we will submit a ticket and if we are at fault, they will reverse it with Transunion, after telling me I activated the card, and if I read the long attorney like letter, I would have known that acct would be closed. I said I thought u guys said it wasnt closed. She didn't know what to say. So basically, they upgraded me, closed my acct, screwed my credit from an A rating to a D rating, and that was my thank you for being a great loyal cst.,, F... ed right up the butt,,, So moral of the story is, never upgrade with Care credit they will close out your acct! Kicker part is, I never asked to upgrade or close out the acct. Everyone knows when u close out a 5 yr card, your credit takes a huge hit@!
So thanks Credit Care for taking care of your great credit csts. What a bunch of unethical morons... Lets ruin someones credit cause they have great credit and close out their acct... Who does that? Baffled in Florida

I am very disappointed with CareCredit. My boyfriend and I use this card for emergencies with my dog. She has many seizures and is a bit much to pay out of pocket. So we have never been late on a payment. Our first purchase was over $700. They give you 6 months to pay off w/out interest. Then we used again for $450. So as soon as we paid off the first amount on the last day so there was not Interest. Two days later our account was closed. Say it was closed due to two payment that did go though. So to be clear yes it did not take one of my cards for a payment, but we made payment with another card. SO ALL PAYMENTS WERE MADE IN TIME AND PAID WITHIN 6 months. WE HAD OUR ACCOUNT CLOSED DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH THEM NOT TAKE A PAYMENT FROM A CERTAIN CARD. It seem as if we were punished for making our payments on time and paying it off within six months. I feel like they were disappointed, because they couldn't charge us interest they wanted to charge us. Not once were we never told. Your account will be closed if you try and make a payment and the card does work. Now we have to see what them closing our account will do to our credit. Oh yes and they closed our account. With us still having a balance of $400 to pay. Telling us we should still continue to pay off our balance.

I used Synchrony Bank with my T. J. Maxx card years ago and it was a terrible experience. When I hit a $20,000 medical procedure done my doctor talked me into using Care Credit with no interest for 12 months. I can tell you I wish I could just use my Chase credit card or talk to my bank about a medical loan. Care Credit is a nightmare. I paid on time and in advance and I finally ran into a huge problem when I had a bogus contract with a chiropractor's office. Care Credit and Synchrony Bank did not represent me at all. I had to dispute because the chiropractor it told me I could cancel it with a full refund if I was unable to get a doctor's clearance to use his services. I was unable to use the services and wanted a full refund and his office gave me the run-around and when I filed a dispute with CareCredit they never represented me. His office sent in some partial records and they went along with them leaving me a balance for services not rendered of $590. I was Furious. Synchrony Bank and Care Credit was not in unity and it was a mess. Yesterday I went to the chiropractor's office and saw him directly and he told me his staff had never told him the circumstances and he apologized profusely and wrote me a check for the balance of $590 for the refund. When I called CareCredit to let them know I had resolved the issue myself in my favor their representative was rude and uninterested other than curtailing the call as quickly as possible. I only wish the promise survey had come on after I completed my call with her but instead I got to dial tone when she hung up on me. In 20 years I never had a problem with Capital One or my Chase credit card when I've had the rare dispute. I have clipped my CareCredit card and half and we'll pay it off at the end of the month and be done with it. Be careful of the free months of interest-free used with Care Credit because when that. Is over your interest rate will be anywhere from 24% to 36% and that is no deal my friend. Use your credit card, get a medical loan and if you can't do that don't get the procedure. Run from Care Credit Synchrony Bank less
