Darius from CVS Caremark saved me from going to the hospital by helping me find an approved inhaler after my insurance wouldn't refill it after a year of use without a pre-authorization. It took all week talking to doctors as I got more short of breath. Right before I had to call an ambulance, my husband called CVS Caremark and Darius was so helpful. Instead of a $436 inhaler requiring a lot of paperwork he found Wixela which was covered and only $7. God bless Darius! Please promote him!
This company does not care about patients and their well being. They are there to line there pockets with money and not help when the help is needed. I have sent several Prior Auth to this company and they deny saying they never receive fax and they do because it states successful sent to company! I re submit and when I was away from my desk helping the provider they closed and denied the claim again due to I couldn't speak at that time. Called them back within 15 minutes and they state its closed you have to re submit. I just Opened it this morning! They are the worse at communication they do not care and the people that work for them are rude. I suggest you use another company. Another company.
They force you to fill a 90 day prescription force you to use their horrible pharmacies with the worst pharmacists around town. You never get a call back from a manager. They are literally the worst pharmacy care company around!
This is the worst and our company is forcing us to use these folks. Have never had so much trouble.
I didn't give any STARS since none are deserved but then the Validation rule kicked in and said you must select something... Understand I give NO STARS
Took 8 hours on line to try to prove to CVS Caremark that I did not have another primary insurance company. I still have not resolved the issue. Hours and hours of being transferred from one person to the next. Several promises were made and not followed through. I am a physician and I hope I never have treated a patient as this company has proven not to care. This company should not be in the healthcare industry. Peoples lives are at stake and they have absolutely no cares. Please strike care from Caremark.
Tried to order online 5 times. Never worked. Message says my system is too fast. Tried Edge, Chrome and Yahoo. Nothing worked,. Couldn't get tech rep to resolve the issue. This is a recurrance of a long standing problem.
I sign in and it takes me to a page where no matter where I click it takes me to a page that tells me to sign in, and when I sign in there it takes me back to the original sign-in page, so I just go around in circles. I talked to a supposedly "Tech" person and they said they would find out what is wrong. Still waiting for a fix so I can review the status of my meds.
Tip for consumers:
Use a telephone and talk to a rep. They obviously do not care if I can access their site or not.
This company forces you to use them vs a pharmacy you trust. They cancel doctors prescriptions and deny them without cause and state that there are other medicines available. This is after you were tested and it is determined that you are allergic to the ingredients in other meds. They send out threatening email indicating that either you use them or they wont pay for your prescription next time. This company is steering, this company is deceitful, this company is horrible.

I'm convinced CVS caremark is designed to frustrate you and make you give up on getting your medication. It's unreal how nothing works. The site is designed to be confusing, it will let you fill your prescription and then days layer say it can't be filled and contact your store, then your store will say they can't do anything about it you have to contact Caremark customer service, then they approve your medication (like they do every month) then there's another error on the website and it never shows up. This is repeated every month for me. Sometimes I just go the month without getting it. Sometimes it takes 3 weeks for it to come. It's a disaster.
CVS Caremark is horrible!
You can't use any other pharmacy if you take daily medications. They demand that you fill a 90 day supply by mail or at a CVS. Don't have a CVS close by? They'll ship it to you and it constantly gets lost in the mail. They constantly deny claims! Horrible insurance!
The information Caremark provides on their website vs. their automated phone system vs. their customer service representatives never match. Sadly, the pharmacist knows the correct coverage information more often than Caremark. Prescription coverage should never be a guessing game for the patient. Unfortunately we're often in the dark when it comes to Caremarks policies and prescription coverage.

Retirees using Caremark for mail orders to get 90 day supply of medication in order to save a few $$. Recently, our doctor mistakenly submitted a 30 day supply prescription (instead of 90 day) and caremark filled it and billed us for 90 day cost anyway. When asked about it, Caremark indicated that it bills a flat fee whether 30 or 90 day. No consideration was made to correct the billing. So, because of an error on prescription, Caremark had a windfall of $45 in this case. By no fault of consumer, Caremark profitted by a third party mistake and at the expense of retirees. We spoke to three levels of management of Caremark and all said that there was anything they can do to make things right. Such a simple fix and equally simple minded organization.
CVS CAREMARK mail order service: Every time I refill my medications, there is ALWAYS a problem with my order. They delay shipping my order each and every time and other times like this time they completely cancel the entire order. This time I have had all I could take. I am now out of medication and will be for at least three days before I see my doctor. They have on file that I will not accept the brand name Tier 2 medication, which is such a high price. I can not afford to pay that. I will only pay for the generics@$15 or less. They still sent a medication of the Tier 2 price which I can't afford and it has never been opened. I spend hours on the phone with them trying to resolve the issue, only to find out the next day that the time spent on the phone was a waste of time. The staff is incompetent, the company is horrible to order from, and I have no where to turn. This has been going on for years. Something has to change. I wish they would file for bankruptcy.

I'm so disgusted with this company Caremark. Never have experience so much runaround on trying to get prescription refilled for Celebrex a much needed for everyday life. They not only keep trying to push on me Celecoxib the generic in which repeatedly it is documented that there are bad allergic reactions to it as they don't care if I live or die and this is horrible. Caremark really should be investigated for their unscrupulous practices regarding ones health.
Caremark refuses to order certain prescription drugs stating that their distributor doesn't stock them.
That is a lie. Caremark determines whether a drug should be ordered and what the insurance costs should be.

Completely useless service. I signed up for mail in service and never received my RX. I called Caremark to try to opt out and have my RX filled with my local pharmacy instead (as I was completely out of my medication by this point) and was told 1) I cannot opt out of Caremark and must use their mail in service or pay out of pocket, and 2) they are unable to expedite delivery speed.
I then called my local pharmacy - union pharmacy - and they were able to fill my rx same day without going through insurance for only $20 with good Rx.
I switched insurance to wellcare, they only deal with caremark online. I set up my prescriptions weeks ahead. I go 2 meds late, I still haven't got my insulin after a month. These people are dangerously inept. I have talked to the BBB maybe they can make them do there jobs. Their gonna kill people
This has to be the most aggravating online prescription plan ever! When everything works right it is a breeze, but let a prescription expire or need a new prescription and caremark will cause you more grief that you have ever known trying to get the prescription. If you have a choice, avoid it if you can.
CVS Specialty's game is prior authorization denial, delay and the incompetence to not follow up on your prescriptions. Recently I held for 25 minutes to get to a level 3 "supervisor" who was not at all a supervisor, but an insurance processor subcontractor. He could not view my CVS account because he was a billing/insurance subcontractor. This is the second time I've had EXTREME difficulty for WEEKS ON END getting medications that are VITAL. By the way, the "supervisor" level 3 constantly interrupted and did not listen to my history. This is the WORST insurance I've had in 40 years and if given a choice I would actually take a job with better insurance, even if the salary was a little better. By the way, the only resolution was Mr. Supervisor was going to call the doctor to get the prescription faxed - something she did over a week ago. Like I said delay, deny, etc. If you're life depends on your medication, good luck.

Ibrance and I cannot get my next medication through
After turning 65, I had to change insurance and give up Express Scripts. The insurance I got used CVS Caremark instead. First time I tried to get a mail order prescription filled, I ended up having to get a short fill from the local pharmacy to get me by until I could get a 90 prescription. Time to refill again, and the order shows it is for 30 days instead of 90. Definitely will have to try and find a more reliable source for my prescriptions.
CVS Caremark is by far the worst coverage I have ever had i had to have all my meds switched from a reputable pharmacy to this CVS only crap. Always rejecting medication I have always gotten on my old coverage. Plus they are late on filling prescriptions or running out or simply not having them and sending you across the state to pick up from another CVS
I never had to do this with under other policies
This is a total scam and will bring this up to my employer who switched to this at the beginning of the year!
Just awful!

Failed to fill
My adhd meds, (Vyvanse 70mg) has been in shortage for a while. I call ahead and ask them if they will have any issues filling it, and if so I can just have my Dr send a lower dose to Caremark or just go to a local CVS instead. They act like you're speaking a foreign language and provide no customer service. 2 weeks later and they don't even call you back to tell you they can't fulfill your order. If you have ADHD medication just go to your local CVS and pay more, it's not worth the time and aggravation of dealing with these people. They're useless as t**s on a nun.
Dr called in multiple prescriptions on a tuesday. Called the next Friday because still had not received prescriptions. Was told they would overnight the prescriptions. Called the next Tuesday because still did not receive prescriptions. Caremark said they needed another 3 days to process. Emailed me a USPS tracking number Thursday. As of Saturday USPS tracking stated tracking number created Thursday but USPS had not received package yet. Called Caremark again. Caremark claims it is in transit and delivered Monday. Will call Caremark again Tuesday.

Over the last year, this web site has added to the list of disfunctions to the point that they can't even email a proper log-on verification code (sent a 9 digit number and the web site only accepts 8 digits). Prescription refill options are dropped from web site, but customer service has the data and cannot fix the web site (just takes the order by phone).
AMAZING - CEO better wake up or Amazon will have an easy target.
I signed up for the Extracare or Caremark program (whichever charges you $5 a month). I cancelled the subscription way before the 3 day deadline. I have now been charged another $5. I was unable to cancel online. The website kept leading me away from anything to do with cancellation. I called & they said it was definitely cancelled. Now I have the $5 charge. I have emailed CVS to cancel my subscription and not to charge my card again. We'll see if it works this time. You would think a major company wouldn't be so shady.
I've been trying to get a specialty drug for 3 months now. Every time I call or the doctor's calls, we are told something different. I've been told that the preauthorization was cancelled, it was expired, and that it wasn't received. I call my doctor, they call, and are told something completely different. I was actually hung up on this morning while asking for the rude lady's name, and when I called back, the very nice gentleman apologized and said that he couldn't tell who it was because they didn't leave any kind of note in my file. Doctor called, and still no resolution.
CareMark is a dangerous prescription service to use. They refuse to change a code for my insulin prescription. This might be a matter of pride or...I don't even know. I can (thankfully) get my prescription elsewhere. Some genius there thought that it would be okay to try to change my therapy from ASPART to LISPRO This cannot be done without a doctor's review and care NOR as the patient, would I agree to this on any end. I hope someone from CareMark sees this review and deals with the person who thought this was a good idea. This is not only medically reckless but dangerous to someone who is less knowledgeable like this individual obviously is. Your health should not be "dictated" by those who have no knowledge of you or your history. I was truly appalled by the negligence of this pharmacy and hope that whoever sees this can find a worthy pharmacy. To an extent, some organization should be able to look into this neglect on a criminal platform.
