“Thank you Darius from Caremark”

Karla F.
2/6/24

Darius from CVS Caremark saved me from going to the hospital by helping me find an approved inhaler after my insurance wouldn't refill it after a year of use without a pre-authorization. It took all week talking to doctors as I got more short of breath. Right before I had to call an ambulance, my husband called CVS Caremark and Darius was so helpful. Instead of a $436 inhaler requiring a lot of paperwork he found Wixela which was covered and only $7. God bless Darius! Please promote him!

“This company is the worse!”

michelle r.
11/7/24

This company does not care about patients and their well being. They are there to line there pockets with money and not help when the help is needed. I have sent several Prior Auth to this company and they deny saying they never receive fax and they do because it states successful sent to company! I re submit and when I was away from my desk helping the provider they closed and denied the claim again due to I couldn't speak at that time. Called them back within 15 minutes and they state its closed you have to re submit. I just Opened it this morning! They are the worse at communication they do not care and the people that work for them are rude. I suggest you use another company. Another company.

I have had nothing but issues with CVS Caremark. It started with their co-pay for the one prescription I have. Previous plan: co-pay $30 month. CVS: $550 unless I get 90 days by mail than $440 for three months. OK. Then they send me a message to have my doctor call me because the co-pay is high. She did but they had no idea why she was calling. They could have just asked me to talk with her about alternatives but instead it cost me money for my doctor to try to resolve the issue they couldn't explain to her. Finally I stopped in to get a flu shot at Walgreens and they wouldn't cover it. There are no CVS pharmacies near me. Who charges for flu shots? You can get one at the supermarket! There are clearly about profit and not well being.

How can a company still charge after you have met your deductibles and copays?!?!
This company is fraudulent! The next step we as consumers need to start a class action suit against this poor excuse for a company! They have lost the ability to be be kind and help people! Its all about the money to them! Iam a retired Gunnery Sergeant, and can't believe the no respect they had for me!

They won't pay for very basic medications and when you appeal their initial decision they'll continue to deny payment. They will randomly approve one month of medication but will notify you by snail mail so you receive that notice after you've already paid in cash. And don't get me started on trying to get reimbursed if that happens! They make getting medications as difficult as possible. I don't have a choice because my company chose them and we don't have any options but if you are lucky enough to have an option DONT CHOOSE CAREMARK!

I ordered a $1,261.00 a month medication. I was forced to use a mail order pharmacy because of my insurance. After my Doctor sent 4 prescriptions, and Caremark claimed they never received them even though I could see copies of them uploaded into my online portal. They finally tried to process one, they then did not process the billing until two days after it shipped out, so when I tried update the billing information, I could not touch it and was stuck with a $300 copay and I was told tough luck. However, I had called several times leading up to this and was told it was to soon to run the claim. I also, tried to transfer the prescription, at the prompting of one of their Reps advice and found out later this would have been pointless because the medicine would have already shipped. So needless to say I will no longer be using their services, and am appalled at the lack of human decency. There was not even an apology, or an offer to resolve the matter.

I asked my provider to send the prescription to this company based on the prices. In every other pharmacy situation, including mail order that I have used in the past, the patient/customer has to then call or click a text box asking that the pharmacy FILL the prescription. This allows the customer to double check the medication, the dose, and cost and decide if the drug at CVS Caremark is what they want to purchase. INSTEAD, I got medication in the mail without agreeing to the prices, amounts, etc! I have a bill for the medication which I was waiting for lab results to choose to fill or not! This is ridiculous and I am SHOCKED! It's like being in a hospital where the doctor orders a med and you get the bill later without being able to shop or consent. There is no patient request or consent! Instead they fill it and bill you. Beware!

Caremark has given me headaches for a year now. I was perfectly happy getting my medications at Publix. Excellent service! My insurance company forced me to switch to Caremark/CVS. From day one, I have had problems. My dosages are consistently wrong even after my doctor sends in the prescription, and I was basically told today by Mailhandlers/ Aetna that I had no choice. They wouldn't pay for my meds if I didn't get my meds from them. So they have a monopoly now? I am so angry!
I Emailed my congressmen tonight. This is MY retirement and MY medical Insurance that i worked for. It is MY right to use whom I damn well please!

HORRIBLE SERVICE! I am actually thinking of stopping my meds because getting them from Caremark is such an ordeal.

I have been dealing with CVS Caremark for years and get consistently poor service. Shipments don't arrive when promised, no notification - just doesn't show up. Every reorder takes multiple attempts - CVS can't locate the paperwork and blames doc or insurance co.

They could not do worse if they tried.

If you think the savings on co-pays is worth it, please think again. Turning your wellness and health over to this garbage company could be lethal! Incompetence, apathy and total disorganization are their default! You will end up running from pharmacy to pharmacy begging for your meds! $25k a year in medical insurance and this is what you get! FYI: CVS careMARK is not linked to CVS brick and mortars. If you think they'll help you out during a med crisis you are WRONG :(

I have been purchasing a medication for the past two years at my local CVS pharmacy and paid a total of $10 each time for a 30 day supply. My provider called in the same prescription to CVS Caremark for a 90 day supply which I received a few days later. I didn't think it would matter whether I received the prescription from the store or the mail. Today I get a call from CVS Caremark telling me that I owe them $150 for the 90 day supply. In other words, for a 30 day supply I went from $10 copay in the store to $50 copay online. There is no returning medication so I have no choice but to pay this. I will never use CVS Caremark again. I can see why they are getting poor reviews on this website. Luckily, Walgreens is just as close to me as is my CVS store

Caremark sent a link for a Rx for
Livalo. The link took us to the site where it stated that our copay was $0.00 so we accepted the order.

After mailing the Rx, they then tried to charge almost $900. Upon discovery that Caremark was charging such a high amount, we asked to just return the Rx only to be met with an extremely rude customer service rep with no recourse.

Now, we cannot obtain any of our other prescriptions until we pay Caremark's ransom.

CVS Caremark is the absolute worst prescription drug coverage I've ever experienced.

The CVS pharmacist, who did everything in his power to assist me, was unable to help because Caremark hung up on him four times.

I called Caremark, and the woman I spoke with was rude and belligerent.

If you have any other choice, do not use CVS Caremark.

My husband changed jobs and one of my prescriptions went from $20 to about $39 monthly, my daughters went from $5 to about $350 monthly. After the $3,000 deductible was met the same prescription for my daughter was about $156 monthly. We did better not using CVS Caremark prescription insurance elsewhere and using Good RX instead.

Tip for consumers:
The system didn’t update fast enough for CVS to count other medical expenses towards our deductible days after the deductions were made.

I am double insured w/ caremark as my 1st. I live in a rural area w/ no CVS pharmacy. So. I use my local Fred Myer pharmacy. Normally I pay $70.00 a month in copay. This month. I paid over $140.
And when I went back before the end of the month, they wanted an additional $70. More. I called to see if mail order would be less. I did NOT

Get an answer. Just yes I was charged correctly. Humm $70 one month BAM $210. The next. Guess Dex Com is for the
ELITE.

They ask for a card to put on file, then they don't charge the card and rather put you into collections. They acknowledge there has been a card on file and did not charge it. They had no answer as to why it was not charged and then provided the wrong information for the collection agency, they sent the bill to. CVS as a whole upcharges medications, as a social worker I tell all of the patients at the hospital to change their preferred pharmacy if they are able to in order to avoid spending more money than they need to. In this case, I have no choice but to use Caremark and deal with the frustration of their lack of organization.

They filled my prescription for thyroid medication, which was written with 2 refills. The bottle said so. My online account said so. But sometime after filling the initial script, Caremark "discontinued" my prescription - not my medication, just the original script. Said I needed to get a new script form my doctor. Would not explain to me how they can just delete refills from the original script. They said my Dr. failed to respond to their requests for a new script to which I said, "it's because he wrote the original with refills; why would he give you a new script when THERE ARE STILL TWO UNFILLED REFILLS?" They never responded to my questions; just kept saying they needed a new script. I tried to talk to a supervisor, but my call was disconnected immediately after reaching her. Fortunately my ins. Changed companies for prescriptions and I am rid of this inept company.

I have CVS Caremark through GEHA. They have failed me several times. The latest failure was they did not do what they said they would do. I foolishly dropped my acid reflux medication in the toilet, and the water got in the bottle. So I called and explained, and they said no problem we'll ship you some more. Acid reflux medication is not a narcotic or a pain reliever. They didn't ship it, they just sent me a message saying it was too early to refill my meds. So I called back and re-explained and now they are actually shipping. A supervisor said the first employee "definitely dropped the ball" and failed to do an override so I could get my medication sooner than the refill allowed. This was not a serious or important medication, thankfully. But CVS Caremark cannot be trusted.

I have Caremark through GEHA. There isn't one medication that I don't pay out of pocket for. They even require a copay for 5mg prednisone-one of the cheapest medications to make. Today, they denied a $50 medication ordered by my physician for a colonoscopy. So, I paid full price. Time to locate a new carrier.

This outfit is the worst example of weaponized bureaucracy. CVS intentionally delays, obscures and intimidates customers with whom they have valid contracts. This "company" needs to be investigated for and convicted of organized crime under RICO statutes. Drug lords are prosecuted under RICO and CVS is a definitive drug lord.

I am beyond frustrated with Caremark and the difficulty I've experienced in getting approval for medications that are prescribed by my physician. It's a REPEATED experience. By the time my prescription is denied and my doctor attempts to provide "prior authorization", Caremark closes the order and we start over again. My physician has CALLED and spoken with Caremark and has been misled as well. What's the point of having a physician monitoring MY NEEDS when my insurance provider won't cover the medication needed? Shame on you, Caremark. I will use this feedback on every media source I can access.

I attempted to call CVS Caremark because they would not cover my medication reimbursements stating they had another primary insurance listed for me. It literally took 5 hrs to correct this. This was the second time I had to do this. The first time was in 2021 and it started with the same BS in 2022. I have no other insurance and CVS Caremark is my primary. Then my three prescriptions that they were reimbursing in 2021 were no longer covered in 2021. CVS Caremark offered to fill these for 10 fold more than my local pharmacy and good Rx. I would advise anyone thinking about CVS Caremark as their pharmacy insurance to reconsider. I can see from reading their reviews I Am not alone!

Tip for consumers:
Find another pharmacy insurance company!

I doubt they're going to pay my salary and bills when I can't work because of it either

Terrible customer service. I called 4x to disenroll and after giving all my information was disconnected all 4 times. I was signed up for with my precious employer. I no longer work there and my insurance through that company have been canceled as of 3/31/2023. I am unable to get coverage under my current insurance plan because Caremark is listed as my primary.

I have been trying to get my prescription filled for over a week. I have never in my 28 years of life had an insurance company take THIS LONG to process a prescription. I have been a week without my prescription now because they won't figure out my prior authorization form that was sent in DAYS AGO by my doctor. I am switching insurances as soon as possible.

They denied my heart medication several times and made my cardiologist send them a letter explaining why I need HEART FAILURE MEDICATION. They then do a " test charge" before actually charging my debit/ credit card and that double charges me until the test charge falls off a week later. Plus they place my order on hold for payment issues. How Caremark is allowed to stay in business I have no idea.
