“Thank you Darius from Caremark”

Karla F.
2/6/24

Darius from CVS Caremark saved me from going to the hospital by helping me find an approved inhaler after my insurance wouldn't refill it after a year of use without a pre-authorization. It took all week talking to doctors as I got more short of breath. Right before I had to call an ambulance, my husband called CVS Caremark and Darius was so helpful. Instead of a $436 inhaler requiring a lot of paperwork he found Wixela which was covered and only $7. God bless Darius! Please promote him!

“This company is the worse!”

michelle r.
11/7/24

This company does not care about patients and their well being. They are there to line there pockets with money and not help when the help is needed. I have sent several Prior Auth to this company and they deny saying they never receive fax and they do because it states successful sent to company! I re submit and when I was away from my desk helping the provider they closed and denied the claim again due to I couldn't speak at that time. Called them back within 15 minutes and they state its closed you have to re submit. I just Opened it this morning! They are the worse at communication they do not care and the people that work for them are rude. I suggest you use another company. Another company.

My company switched us from Express Scripts to Caremark. I thought this would make life easier since CVS is my local pharmacy and everything would be under one umbrella. Wrong. I'm spending more time now tracking down stuff and having to use 2 apps on my phone to find prescriptions. Nothing gets auto refilled, even though I have that checked, and I never get notified that I'm on my last refill. If you can avoid Caremark, I recommend you do.

This is the worst I meant I rat them next to alfac or the likes.

They force you to buy name brand when you know generic and affordable is available.

What's up with all this PA stuff too, never had to get PA for meds on my other insurance plan...something is very wrong thistles company...left hand doesn't know it's right hand. No o e has answers. O ones on the same page...stay far away from them

Tip for consumers:
It would have been nice to know they don't cover generics and I my plann is through employer Parker Hannifin

This coverage sucks! There is no cvs in my area, if I have a prescription that is long term, they insist I use mail order or they penalize me by adding $15 to the price of my prescription. They don't cover a life long prescription I have to take, so I have to pay out of pocket for it. My daughter is on a long term prescription and consistently goes through withdrawals because they don't send her refills! They charge nearly twice what any other pharmacy charges for medication. If I could change coverage I would do it! If you have a choice, do not choose this coverage.

They said several times out of pocket cost was 33.00 including on the same day they mailed the drug. When it arrived I learned they charged my visa card 538.00. They refused to et me return the drug unopened. After grievances with them and Wellcare and Medicare and appeals, I was told there was nothing that could be done. It's a long story but they refused to accept responsibility for what was their computer malfunction.

Do Not Rely on this Lousy Company! I am disgusted once again. Dependent prescription for an auto-immune disease. Received text that the prescription was received back in September of 2022. I phoned on 12/2/2022 to follow-up with this 'announcement.' Agent told me that the order had been canceled. Dang! They did not have the professional responsibility to let me know! I could have searched another avenue to receive my dependent meds! Sadly, I'm contracted through my employer to this swamp donkey diaper nugget of a company.

Tip for consumers:
FIRE CVS Caremark.

Caremark is the worst. Waiting 7 days on a script to be filled the only info I get is IT'S PROCESSING. Multiple calls with absolutely no help and finally am told it's out of stock! Meanwhile my daughter ran out of her meds. If it happened once that's bad enough but I've had the issue 4 times now. Horrible communication and customer service! They do not care!

Tip for consumers:
They really need to communicate and work on their crappy website which is useless.

Products used:
I have to call around town to find a pharmacy with stock then contact the doctor to send another new script.

CVS Caremark is by far the worst prescription insurance company.
Prior Authorizations are needed for everything. Females need testosterone too, menopause can start at any age not only 55. They don't cover meds for menopause. They are misogynists.

Customer service is the worst, they need to train the employees in being people.

They told me they won't cover Botox, because it's cosmetic. My neurologist has been helping me with migraines with Botox for years. Express scripts covers this Med, had them for years, but not this joke of a company.

Verified purchase

Every time that I need my headache medicine refilled I am promptly sent an order confirmation with a ship date. When the order doesn't arrive I call and I am told different things from the prescription has expired or the order exceeds the prescription requirements. Nobody can tell me why I have an order confirmation with a ship date and no medicine. Nobody can give me a straight answer. Unfortunately I have no other way to get this medicine with my insurance coverage. I have to jump through hoops with a migraine to get my prescription filled. Still waiting. Order not received.

This is by far the worst pharmacy. I hate that our insurance requires us to use them. They never have our prescriptions in stock and customer service is horrible. Customer service is very rude and do not care at all.

I have called multiple times trying to get an answer on whether or not I can return a medicine that has been changed by my doctor. I have spent alot of time on hold but never rec'd a reply? This really should not be a difficult question for a company that fills prescriptions. I will be transferring all my meds back to a local pharmacy as the customer services with this company is lacking bigtime.

As a Pima County employee, I was told by Pima County to get my prescriptions filled at CVS because Caremark Rx insured people, like me, would receive the best prices there. I just found out that CVS is overcharging me $95.00 per 30-day supply of a medication I need. CVS charges $280.00, while Albertson's Pharmacy only charges $185.00 for the same medication. Caremark Rx coverage is crap, and Pima County is lying to us. The drug rep for the medication I am taking has never heard of anyone paying more than $30.00 for this medication. Caremark is complete garbage.

I have been taking a prescription for the past 23 years, no problems. We switched insurance companies September 1st to this joke for insurance. I have spent 3 hours on the phone with them trying to get a full 30 days of my scrip filled! They are only allowing 1 week at a time, maxing at 2 weeks! Still trying to get it sorted out. Horrible, horrible insurance. Avoid at all costs!

My company recently switched from Expressed Scripts to CVS Caremark. It is the biggest mistake ever made. The CVS pharmacies never have my prescription. They will send me a text that my prescription will be ready at a certain time, then send ne another text saying it will not be ready for pickup until a later date, but you can call if you need it, today. When you try to call, no one will answer the phone. And don't try calling their call center, they are even worse. I was hung up on, then on hold for over 20 minutes waiting for a Supervisor. It would have been longer, but my time is precious, and I refuse to give these bumbling idiots any more of it. I blame my company for elected to go with CVS Caremark. Sometimes cheap is not always the best thing to do. Especially, when it comes at the expense of your workforce.

I would rate a 0 if I could. Worst customer service. This pharmacy company makes rules about prior authorization after you have been on a med for a year with no consideration for what it's needed for and what missing a monthly dose means to the patient. There is no way to know that you need a prior authorization until you go to get your refill. So if your refill day happens to be a Friday and you can't reach your doctor. You are screwed and you miss 3-4 doses until Monday or Tuesday when it gets done. Missing some medications can make you sick, but Caremark does not care about the consumer

As a prescriber, CVS Caremark has been very difficult to deal with. For starters, they recently changed it so if I have any questions regarding a patients' medication, I can't get a hold of a live pharmacist. They send my patients' letters saying medication is on hold without any reason as to why. This confuses both myself and the patient. Then it takes 45 minutes to try to get it resolved. A pharmacist questioned how I write a prescription which I have done the same way for 10 years and no other pharmacy has issues with how it is written. I would give zero stars if I could but I can't.

Every time I submit a reimbursement for approved medication I have to call 30 days later to inquire and they never have any idea of what I am taking about. They will pay one prescription and then refuse the same one with a higher amount of medication. Everything is a fight and they lack in explanations so everything requires a call which then again they have no clue what you are talking about. I am on hold more then I am actually speaking with someone. They love the money they get from the employers and employees that they insure but they sure do hate to reimburse funds for medication that they approved.

Online/app functionality is terrible. You schedule Rx delivery for a date and the system doesn't even attempt to process until delivery date- when you suddenly find out that they need additional authorization for copay or there is a problem with the authorization. So you have to call to fix (even if it's just to authorize payment on the card you have on file). And since you aren't notified until date of shipment and new authorizations can take days, you end up getting your med late. And you have to laugh bc when you call the associate reads a script telling you ti use the website next time (which is impossible)
Also when you discover that there is some hold up bc of authorization or dosage change they tell you they can't get in touch with doctor. Meanwhile doctor has faxed them 5 times

They called me while I was dealing with a family emergency occurring at that time, and was going on about a recorded call blah blah BS. To you and every company, if you want to be treated with respect. Show some damnbrespect yourselves. Ask if this is a convenient time to discuss whatever matter you need to discuss. When i tried to let the woman know I was in the middle of a situation she just kept talking over me. GUESS what company I won't be doing further business with.

They don't hire the long term unemployed even when they posted a training class. The resume online asked me if I was over 40 before they would allow me to send my resume. I called them and was told they want people younger for their training classes and that it didn't help to be unemployed.

The biggest stressor in my life is having to deal with the specialty pharmacy constantly. I paid off my balance, as I do everytime I log in to reorder, and yet they claim there is an amount on collection. Not only is that not true, it is a collections company OWNED by cvs! They refused to apply my payment to the debt, only applied it to the next order, and also are refusing to credit me what I already paid.

Then they kept entering my birthday wrong, causing my savings card to not cover 3500. Multiple calls, multiple hours later and it is still not resolved.

This company is so incompetent, it is criminal.

Tip for consumers:
Do not use cvs. I am trying to get off meds just so I never have to deal with them again. I avoid hospitals because I want to avoid cvs being the one my insurance dictated I have to use

I have a very needed psoriasis prescription. After years of positive results they are denying use of this medicine. My doctor has repeatedly contacted CVS Caremark and appealed their decision, but CVS is not listening and they just continue to dent the claim as my condition deteriorates severely.
