“Thank you Darius from Caremark”

Karla F.
2/6/24

Darius from CVS Caremark saved me from going to the hospital by helping me find an approved inhaler after my insurance wouldn't refill it after a year of use without a pre-authorization. It took all week talking to doctors as I got more short of breath. Right before I had to call an ambulance, my husband called CVS Caremark and Darius was so helpful. Instead of a $436 inhaler requiring a lot of paperwork he found Wixela which was covered and only $7. God bless Darius! Please promote him!

“This company is the worse!”

michelle r.
11/7/24

This company does not care about patients and their well being. They are there to line there pockets with money and not help when the help is needed. I have sent several Prior Auth to this company and they deny saying they never receive fax and they do because it states successful sent to company! I re submit and when I was away from my desk helping the provider they closed and denied the claim again due to I couldn't speak at that time. Called them back within 15 minutes and they state its closed you have to re submit. I just Opened it this morning! They are the worse at communication they do not care and the people that work for them are rude. I suggest you use another company. Another company.

First and foremost this process of getting medication is a nightmare! And since when are monopolies legal in the US! And using the excuse that it's a "specialty medication" to sell it to the highest bidder! All pharmacys should have access to these medications not just one! Today was even more of a nightmare than usual, let's start with the fact that my daughter has been getting the same medication for years but they didn't send it and didn't bother to contact me. The reason is still mysterious since nothing has changed but the double talk they dealt me made it so. Now today I get someone who can't speak English, had to hang up. Then I get miss upity on the line and is asking if my daughter gave permission, now I've never been asked this but she insisted it was there. And how about INVASION OF PRIVACY! They make you answer a list of questions that are absolutely none of their business! Never had a local pharmacist ask if she is on any new meds! This is just using medication to make a ridiculous profit!

If you want to miss meds, be frustrated, get panicky, get lied to, no apologies for their mistakes and they charge $ more for their errors and you like going without daily meds, the overbearing stress makes you stronger. THIS IS THE PHARMACY FOR YOU!

Tip for consumers:
Go anywhere but cvscaremark, you are lucky if you get the correct med once or even twice. Otherwise its all wrong

If you like being told 'your doctor didn't prescribe that' or 'we sent that to you' or 'here's how much it will cost' or 'we won't bill you until you approve the cost' when NONE of those things are true, then this is the pharmacy for you! The phone folks are SO HELPFUL and kind, but WHATEVER MACHINE TAKES OVER IS NUTS. NOTHING they say happens. Want the medication you asked for? Sucks to be you! If you live in CA they will send you whatever they want. Don't like it? Call for 6 weeks begging for the right one, then they will send it (6 weeks late) and NEVER GIVE YOU THOSE 6 weeks BACK! So if you are a 'whatever drug you wanna give me is cool, whenever you wanna send it' kind of consumer, then sure, they are fine. If you've been on the same rx for 25 years, get ready for a shakeup.

Tip for consumers:
STAY AWAY! CALL them IMMEDIATELY and have them repeat back 100% of what you want, 100% or they will send whatever they want

Avoid CVS caremark if possible. They constantly send me the wrong birth control, even though my doctor writes DAW- one customer service rep straight up told me they override it. I had to fight with them for 2 years to finally talk to a pharmacist who would fix this problem for me. Then my prescription which is supposed to auto refill, never refilled and sent to me so they had to transfer it to a "local" CVS (I don't have any that close to me, I have much closer pharmacies they refused to use) and they didn't have my exact prescription. Caremark only let's me get a 3 month supply at once so I had to accept the other manufacturer and cross my fingers it won't give me problems like the other 2 manufacturers Caremark has sent me in past have. I miss ExpressScripts, I had them for years and never once had a problem with them. Caremark also won't give my brother who has epilepsy the proper dosage of his seizure medication that he is prescribed by my doctor. Useless company, they should get out of the business and stick to regular pharmacies.

I wish Blue Cross Blue Shield would untethered themselves from CVS Caremark for prescriptions. I have never had a problem getting my prescriptions until CVS Caremark. Out of the blue, i need prior authorization for some standard prescriptions. My doctors were so surprised that they needed a moment to process it. Then CVS Caremark denied coverage for one prescription because while it treats one disease, I need two comorbid diseases to meet the requirement, and I am not sick enough to get my medicine. I am lucky that it costs $50 without insurance, but that is a day's wages for many people, and every other Co pay would have paid for it. I can't understand how they can decide that they, who have never examined my body or would know me in a lineup, can supercede my primary care providers' expertise. I do not understand why they get any money from my paycheck if all it does it boost their multi million dollar salaries for their ceos.

Their website is a mess. I needed my prescription card to log in and had never received one. I called customer service, and they just flat out will not tell you your member ID. I never was able to access their site. I can't access any information about my benefits or plans. If you try to log into the site, it has such helpful info as "try removing the first three letters. Now the last 4 numbers. No? Try adding your rx bin number." On and on until you give up.

Tip for consumers:
If you have an alternative, use it. When you get denied coverage, use GoodRX. And if your spouse has better health insurance, go through them.

In April of 2023, CVS Caremark declined to cover my child's prescription and requested prior authorization from her doctor. At that time, we also discovered that they had still been paying this child's prescriptions from my old plan that I left as of January, four months before the issue arose. This was only happening with her and not the five other covered family members. After many phone calls and a lot of time I should not have had to spend dealing with their mistake, her doctor sent the letter explaining that she cannot take the alternative meds because they cause her severe side effects and the authorization was issued. She only takes this medication for school, so I am just now needing to refill it again in August of 2023. Again they reject for prior authorization and say that in April it was paid under the old plan and the prior auth that was issued in April, the one that says CVS Caremark at the top and says it's good through April of 2024, was somehow attached to the old plan that was already expired for four months at that time. So basically CVS Caremark wants to make medical decisions about my daughter's care, but they can't even be trusted to attach the authorization they requested to a currently active plan. And now I am sitting on hold for 47 minutes and counting while they figure out if they can do me the "favor" of transferring the prior authorization that they attached to the wrong plan through no one's fault but theirs.

Ordered a prescription refill through their website. They gave me a delivery date, the prescription never arrived. When I called and talked to CSR #1, she told me that my order had been cancelled but couldn't tell me by whom. She promised to get the prescription order resubmitted, and advised me to get a short term supply through my doc. I then received an automated email from CVS Caremark telling me that they were going to delay my prescription refill. I called again, got CSR #2. She tried to blame my physician's office, but then promised to override the system and expedite my refill. The next day, I get another automated message from the system, telling me again that they were delaying the refill. I called CSR # 3 on the phone who then claimed that my prescription had expired, which was not true by CVS Caremark's own record. He went to his supervisor, and after cutting me off called me back to say that CS#2 never filed the override order and they will not expedite the delivery, even though they recognized that I was going to run out of meds again. He told me to go get another short term prescription from my doc and pay it out of pocket. The CVS Caremark reps are powerless to do anything, even when they admit there is a problem. They tell you that they will fix it, and then they don't. Terrible customer service, no self respecting benefits manager who cares about their people should ever sign up with CVS Caremark.

CVS Caremark is jeopardizing its business with the USPS. MY PRESCRIPTION WAS 3 WEEKS LATE. I had to dig out a prescription that was out-dated to help with a serious acid reflux condition. Today I was notified that my prescription would arrive and it will also be late. I would suggest that Caremark partner with Amazon - who just announced that they are starting prescription service!

Hate I have to give them a Star. Customer Service needs to be renamed to "Customer Frustration". I have had to call on one of my prescriptions every time it is due for refill. All of them leads to my doctor having to call and give them the same information on my health. They want to change me to a different medicine which has potential side effects that could cause severe reactions including death. I have taken the lowest dose of my med for several years and while it can be addictive at higher doses, it is not dangerous as I take it. I have a General Practitioner, Cardiologist, Electrophysiologist and a Hematologist and not one of them sees any problem with me taking this needed medication. Their website is not particularly user friendly and many times I end up with a blank screen or chasing my tail so to speak as I keep getting back where I started and no never find what I need. I hate the fact they can drive me crazy texting and emailing me and all I can send is Y or N. And don't even ask to talk to a Pharmacist. I did one time lie and say I had been sent a medicine I was never prescribed and was afraid of what It might be. I did. Finally get a pharmacist and she was very helpful. In answering the real question I had been Nguyen to get customer service to answer for 3 days.

I really like Cigna but they switched their prescription approvals to CVS Caremark and now the the service is horrible it is interesting how a company can subcontract their management to another company like Cigna did and ruin the great service they were providing I wonder if Cigna cared about the poor service

I get a prescription at Walgreens for $4 a month. CVS sends me a letter in the old fashioned unreliable mail that requires that I immediately go to their website and transfer my prescription at Walgreens which was 12 monthly refills to CVS for 4 quarterly refills which per their letter is to "keep medication costs affordable." Turns out the more affordable option they are requiring is double the price per unit. When I try to use their website to make the change to this more affordable $8/month solution of course 10 days go by without even a mail notification so I log back on to their website and it says cancelled. Of course the letter they sent me had no phone number to call except a TDD one so I have to google their number. They lady on the phone who seems to have excelled in how to deliver the world's worst customer service tells me that there is no way she can contact Walgreens or the doctor and transfer the 12 refills of 30 days prescription I have to a 4 refills of 90 days prescription to this more afford double the price option they require, and that I need to do it myself. Of course the doctors office is closed due to Covid 19 and Walgreens says only the doctor can make this change from 12 monthly to 4 quarterly because this is so complicated. The fact that I actually pay these terrible people a monthly fee for this extremely low value service for me to allow them to increase the price I pay for medications to line their greedy pockets is unconscionable at best and a complete waste of time. They ought to be ashamed of themselves of what they are doing to people and how they treat people.

I moved jobs 7 month ago. Still trying to get CVS Caremark to cover my ADHD medication that I have been on for 8 years... 8 years I have taken the same medication, for the last 7 months I have been off my medications, and CVS is blaming my doctor and my pharmacy...
My doctor has signed multiple pre-authorizations, and CVS Caremark keeps screwing it up.
I keep calling them a week after my doctor sends in the prior authorization, and CVS doesnt even have any record of the pre-auth request... The same Pre-auth request they sent and recieved, they lost it. 4 times they have lost the pre-auth request.

At this point, I can do nothing but assume CSV Caremark either does not "Care" or they are just not competent enough to be in charge of people's medications.

I hope my employer drops CVS before I find a new job with good insurance.
Cheers
Tom

We have the best health coverage using anthem BlueCross/BlueShield PPO but we change medication providers every year, This year we used CVS Caremark they are the worst we have ever used they refuse to pay for almost any medication for the normal dosage, I never had an issue for any medications by previous providers. Now even generics require prior authorization which is never approved so I've ended up paying the whole cost using good scripts discounts it's so frustrating but I can't drop my prescription coverage without losing everything because it's all in a package but be warned stay clear of CVS Care mark at all cost if you have another option.

After trying and fighting for months over the availability issues of controlled meds on hand I am done. The pharmacy employees are tired of it as well. IT is not the employees at CVS that are the problem it is that CVS no longer wants to fill for Carenark because they don't get as much money so I do without so people that don't have a discount get filled ahead of me. FOR instance... they have 87 of 90 of the pills I need... Instead of filling my 87 and owing me three they will force me to come in every week to get 7 at a time so they can keep the stock for others that are paying full price. Each week I am having to call to remind them they need to refill my order. Then call to see if it came in. Then call to see since it didn't how to resolve it. Then ask when we can pick up a borrowed amount... then sit in line to pick it up. Then have to explain again to a young tech everything. Then repeat the next week because they refuse to fill the full amount... not cool. I have been with CVS 30 years. The last 3 have been hell. I had moved everything (30 prescriptions to an independent in town) because of the hassle. I am now moving my last script. I had rather pay 40 more a month than be pissed of and wasting an hour on the phone every week and atleast 20 in line every week for 1 script. Good bye CVS

My insurance only uses CVS pharmacy. I fill 7+ medications a month so I use the CVS Caremark. Over the last year I have had no less than 4 issues with them. The issues are that they DO NOT send the medication that doctors prescribe and send in for refills. They put the drugs on "hold" and then fail to send them. After a week or 2 I'll call them to see the status of my order. They say they are on "hold" because the doctor failed to include so minor detail. I contact the doctor and they say they did include all necessary info but will resend my prescriptions. Still I wait for the delivery. Nothing shows up. Then I call again and CVS Caremark changes their online pharmacy number with no new number to call. Are you kidding me? This company is the most incompetent business I have ever done business with. I have used Walgreens and Cigna mail order before had little to no issues. CVS CAREMARK is a company that I will NEVER do business with again. I've also used their local pharmacy and needed novolog for my diabetes. They gave me cartridges of instead of the injection pens. How am I supposed to inject the medication? Incompetent is being nice to these people... the truth is that they shouldn't be allowed to peddle medication. Avoid doing this business with company at all costs. Do not trust to follow through with any order you place. They are the worst business I have ever dealt with and I'm DONE with them.

The CVS on North Main Street, in Manchester, CT. Is the WORST CVS in our town.
I was talking to others in the line we were in, and everyone was saying, it is just this one CVS "that does not care."
My neurosurgeons office, called in my prescription REFILL at 9:10AM.
They called me right after and told me. They did not say, "we will call it in at the end of the day".
They said: "You are all set. We called it in already."
At noon, I called and they said "we are working on it."
I said,"how much longer should I expect to wait? 2 hours?"
Is that alright with you, said the pharmacy tech?

I guess it has to be.
We left the house at 2:15PM.
Waited in this long line to be told, "we are working on it" (AGAIN?)
Finally at 2:50PM, my husband went in to pick it up.
I had walked out, because I need a cane following a fusion, and all the seats were taken.

That is the absolute worst service, especially when they had the whole day to get it done.
I am going to transfer my prescriptions to another CVS in town.
This is way too annoying, to put up with over the long term.

This pharmacy is completely backwards, causing a HUGE pain point for customers. I called in a prescription I needed (that Aetna refuses to refill anywhere but CVS Specialty Pharmacy) a week ago. They put an "urgent" indicator on the order because I indicated I only had 5 days left of the prescription. I've waited a week now just to find out that the prescription has not been filled. No call-- no notice that my doctor hadn't responded to the fax, nothing. Now I have no pills left and these pills help ensure that I DONT HAVE A MISCARRIAGE. My doctor has sent multiple prescriptions out bc of the many insurance specifications and a move. Every pharmacy I've worked with will call your previous pharmacy and get the prescription transferred. That is standard operation procedure. I've done this at Walgreens, regular CVS, RX Pharmacy Plus, etc. It's completely ridiculous that I have to call another pharmacy and beg them to transfer a prescription when CVS Specialty Pharmacy is going to be the ones making money off of me. This is completely unacceptable.

CVS Caremark does not Care about their Customers and misses the Mark on customer service. It's obvious that they are driven by profit by their owners: Aetna. Let me elucidate. On Monday, August 2,2021, my pharmacy called me and said that there was a substantial co-pay on my prescription for mycophenolate 250 MG capsule. They recommended I go thru Aetna's 90 day mail order service deceivingly called Caremark. I called Aetna and was given a phone number that connected me with an outfit called CVS Caremark "Specialty". Little did I know that this outfit differs from CVS Caremark in that they handle specialty prescriptions (for patients with complex & chronic conditions). The difference is in the copay which I was quoted as high as $180 for a 90 day supply. It took me until today (Friday, August 6,2021) to get the order transferred, approved, and expedited with a copay of $1.62! The problem is my supply of medication is running out in a few days and a supervisor by the name of Lori said I would have to pay for expedited shipping which is different from expediting a prescription approval process. So, I'll end up going without a medication for my auto-immune disorder in the time of a pandemic due to the profit driven folks at CVS Caremark. I feel sorry for the elderly that must deal with the employees of this company.

Tip for consumers:
Give yourself ample time to work thru the hoops!
