“BIGGEST SCAMMERS EVER!”

Tasneem A.
7/30/24

Don't go to them for car history, they charged me $1 for the report and without any notice two weeks later I was told that I subscribed to their site and charged me $30 out of nowhere. I never clicked to any subscription and I never received any email about subscription either. Their customer service is the worst, I tried contacting them several times via email. Live chat and calling. In email and chat they tell you to call them but they NEVER once picked up the phone. Absolutely disgusted with this sneaky scamming and would NEVER recommend you to go there. Their car history report is not complete either. I would recommend trying car vin sheet, they are thousand times better.

You pay $1, then get charged a monthly fee you didn't sign up for. The bank tells you its fraud. Carhistory claims they'll refund you. It doesn't happen. Back-and-forth with the bank to get a new card, and remove the fraud charges from your account. Back-and-forth with carhistory for what is seemingly their own amusement, for nothing.

Save your time. Spend the $30 on carfax. This is a garbage scam.

Tip for consumers:
It's crap. Sitejabber should just put out a statement showing the company is a scam.

Verified purchase

They appear to be offering you a 1 time report for $1. Instead you get charged $23.95, and put into a monthly subscription at $23.95. It is very sneaky and misleading. Their customer service says they are gonna cancel my subscription and refund my $23.95 in 3-5 days. I will update if they do.
If they don't, I am gonna post all over the internet about this fraud. People just trying to get a 1 time report for a potential car they are buying, and instead they sneak you into a ridiculous subscription. Who in the world needs to run a ton of car reports every month for a year that it's worth $23.95/month ‍

I wanted to buy a used car I liked. CARFAX scared me away w/their $37 buck report. So I googled & stumbled on carhistory.us.org... advertising a car report for $1. It sounded too good to be true. My guts instinct told me not to go there, foolishly I did... the rest is history. My experience was exactly like the one mentioned above by Bob P. I knew something was a not right. So I checked my CR card activity and lo & behold! $18.95 charge for what? Who knows but I did not authorize. Dispute has been submitted thru my Cr card company. I am not bothering calling carhistory.us.org. I do not trust them. That whole processing report seemed very deceptive. FREE ADVICE for YOU: STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE!

BEWARE, once you've entered your credit card information you are charged $18.95, not $1.00 as you were led to believe. I was given this # by my bank *******890(customer support for their company) and they reversed the charges. I will close this card to prevent any future fraudulent charges.

They don't tell you that their records only go back to 1981. They said they'll charge you $1 dollar but in fact you get charged $18.95! And they will keep charging $18.95 monthly. SO WATCH OUT! DO NOT FALL FOR IT. Stay way. I'm not the only one complaining on the recurring charges. It is a scam as other have said.

They advertise $1.00 for your initial report then $24.00 / mo. BS - They instantly charge your card $23.95!
I know this because my CC sends me notifications of every charge, instantly. So I called and complained and the guy was an Jack*** telling me that it states right next to the credit card info section that they charge you the $23.95. Again BS. I read it back to him just as it appears in the screen shot below and he said it's only a 5 cent difference. No kidding but it said the 1st report was $1. He proceeds to tell me that the $1 is a deposit. Does anyone else see "DEPOSIT" on this page? No!
In the end, this is FALSE ADVERTISING AND THUS A SCAM. By the time most people see their $23.95 charge - it's too late for a refund. STAY AWAY!

I'm trying to sell a car for a friend, and have gotten mixed information. CarFax is $40 which is reasonable, but why pay $40 when $7 will do the trick? Although the process was lengthy, the full report showed everything I was curious about. Now I can help with confidence. I saved the link to my bookmarks, this will definitely come in handy in the future. Great product!

The service was good, but I not sign up for any $18.95 a month subscription. I am not blind! This thing was hidden somewhere so they purposely try to do this. Any legit company will clearly display this type of information and make you clearly indicate you want it. Shame on these scammers.

Not at all what I expected from a supposedly FREE site. I am nervous that I somehow inadvertently agreed to a 180.00 service which I do not want. I will not allow a charge of more than 1$ to my C Card. I am calling their customer service ASAP to be sure no sneaky business will proceed. Sorry if I'm being overly negative but I am already regretting my decision to enter your site. Info received was very basic. I am holding you to the 20$ Amazon card too!

Did you notice that every post has a canned response? Bunch of nonsense. I paid $1.00 for a vin report and suddenly I was getting $14.95 monthly charge to CARHISTORY.US.ORG which they claim I signed up for in order to get up to 25 reports per month. I am a university professor and have no need for 25 reports in any month or any lifetime. I reported them to the attorney general of Idaho today. Their vin reports may or may not be legit, I don't now. But their strategy to charge every month is a scam and nothing less than theft in my opinion.

Read the fine print. Reports are limited as indicated in fine print. Let me explain how limited. The truck I bought has an (R) reconstructed title. The report which cost $1 plus the $18.95/mo charge listed the truck as no salvage or accident history. When I called, the answer was "we have limited access to public info only". State of PA titled this thing R, that's fairly public.

So glad I checked the reviews! My gut told me this was a bad site as soon as I saw their little ol' $1.00 charge after their ad said "FREE" car history. I know a dollar isn't much, but it IS NOT FREE.
They are liars and con artists, and I'll have nothing to do with them. Ever. Plus, now I'm going to actively work to get them shut down.

Great Information at even a better price! Was very pleased with the provided information from carhistory.us.org. It gave peace of mind in the researching of a used car for my teenage son. Not only did it clearly state the vehicle's history, it also provided crash test/safety results for the vehicle. This day and age one can never be too safe. Information is key in not getting burned, or paying for a vehicle that isn't what the seller states it is. Get your vehicle history report and get the peace of mind along with your purchase.

Says $1 for first report but charges full monthly fee upon initial request for first report. I called number on my card to find out why it was declined. Carhistory attempted to bill $18.95 to my $10 prepaid card is why it was declined. I did see they posted a monthly renewal but I only want 1 report and was willing to cancel but not when I must request a refund. Does the first report really cost $18.95 with a full month subscription? I'd rather pay Carfax $40 than deal with misleading advertisers. Beware.

I did some searching to find a way to check on the Vin of a car I want to buy. Not only is this the cheapest you get so much for your money! The site does take you step by step, which for very impatient people might feel slow, but I liked how simple everything was to use!

Signed for $1 for one car report. Was very surprised when saw a charge of $23.95 on my credit card activity.
Contacted customer service and was told I must accidentally upgrade my account for $23.95. Got a refund anyway. So beware very sweet deals for $1.

I fell into their trap and thought it would just cost me a dollar to find out the history of the car I was interested in. I don't recalled reading it was going to be a monthly fee. I thought I cancelled it but apparently that didn't happened. I was charged $18.95 since October of 2019. That's a whopping $170.55 out of my account for a service I only used once. Stay away is the safest thing to do.

I thought the report was very thorough and I hope accurate. It was only $1, a lot cheaper than the other company that give a history report on the car you plan on purchasing.
It's piece of mind for me.
Now the customer service is excellent as they texted me to see if my report was missing any info. And just wanted to make sure I was satisfied, you can't ask for better customer service than that.
Thank you car history us.org

You think you agree for a $1 single report, but there is hidden an $18.99 X 12 Bull$#*! plan that if you do not UNCHECK it, you get screwed! They'll agree to stop the payments. Good luck getting your $17.95 back.

This is a SCAM
This is a SCAM. They say they will charge you $1 for the report but they automatically sign you up for $18.95 per month for a whole year? It's a bait and switch... a good old fashion scam. They must get many unsuspecting people that never check their credit card statement. User Beware! These dudes are straight up crooks.
