Placed a large order and only received part of my order. Made 3 attempts at contacting through email and ended up making 2 help tickets (which were closed without ever receiving a response). They stole my money and would never recommend this shady place.
Everything is fine until they rip you off. Then its a world of ignored help requests. Posting to BBB.org (where castlemania unsurprisingly has a 1 star rating) is required for them to even bothering to answer. I guess It saves money to run your help desk through the BBB complaint portal and keep everyone elses money.
It took me a while to get to writing this review as it was such a frustrating ordeal. On July 14th 22' I received an item that I ordered from Castlemaniagames.com that I had preordered. I had trouble getting the item to work or power up so I started a return as I figured I just received a defective unit. No big deal these things happen.
The problem starts with CastleMania's email support. It will tell you all over in every email they can respond in 1-2 days. It took over 4days to hear back at all and when I tried calling their phone number it just rang off the hook. Any voicemails I left to call me back were ignored.
When I was finally able to start the return process I sent the item back right away. Mailed it to them on the 21st they received it on the 23rd. I then waited for over 2 weeks for my credit card refund. After 3 weeks I was annoyed and frustrated so I began to try and contact them again. I was luckily able to get through on their phone line and demand that my refund be processed. The money was refunded to my account within 5 minutes after hanging up that call. Leaving me wondering if it was so easy why did they go 3 weeks without trying to make right with their customer.
Castlemaniagames.com is a cool little store for modern retro gaming goods. But unfortunately because of this lack of care I won't be shopping there again and I can't recommend them. Many of their products are licensed and can be bought directly from the manufacturer (8-Bit Games) or from other retro gaming store fronts.
Ryan and his team really need to up their game because a month long hassle just to get a simple return does not leave a good impression. At the very least I would suggest that they remove the part of the email that says they will respond in 24-48 hours because it's just not true and it gives people false hope that they will be attended to promptly.
