I know I signed a few petitions on banning pit bulls because of how murderous, violent and dangerous they are.
I'm not one to donate money online, but for the first time I was like "why not". I donated, and today I realized I was being charged 3 dollars for the last 3 months and I didn't understand why. Furthermore, I didn't sign up for a membership. I don't even know how. I haven't even been on, Change since I lasted signed a petition.
A good deed turned a bad fee. I may not use the platform anymore because of that trick they played. Sorry I'm all for change but if Change wants to short change me then there is no change.
I appreciate Change.org, and have been signing petitions on the website for years. However, I have one major critique: the website makes it difficult for people who want to read the entire petition before signing. I receive emails asking me to sign petitions, and these emails include a one-click sign button, meaning that if a person accidentally clicks on that button, then they automatically sign the petition and it is difficult to remove their signature. Additionally, after signing a petition, people are asked to sign more petitions, whose titles are shown, but people have to click a couple of extra times to read the full petition. I would greatly prefer it if Change.org would encourage people to read the full text of the petitions they are signing, rather than pushing people to sign as many petitions as possible.
Excellent place to bring change to certain issues and certain situation that require the voice of more than one person.
Lives have been changed because of this site and will continue to change because of it.
I always support petitions there for change.
I recently (jokingly) made a petition about a friend of mine, and a worker named max contacted me and gave some advice because it wasn't a clear joke petition, And I said sorry mine is a joke petition, he said no need to apologize and went on as usual, I said oh your not a bot? And he was very friendly and I cracked a joke, and he went with it to make the awkwardness of a stranger texting you go away, I loved max, he was wonderful! Will use the site again and hope me and max are in contact someday again to check on how he's been.
Have something that you believe so strongly in and want to change or start a petition about and need signatures. This site is absolutley wonderful if you have a heartfelt mission and want to share it with others and make a difference in your life or the life of others. Here you can start a petition about something you believe in and want to share with the world and get signatures in order to help to make a difference or sign others petitions from all over the world to help to create change and make a difference. Its a great place for people to help oneanother who have the same ideas and beliefs. It really feels like someplace where people come together help eachother and stand together as one.
I like that it has a Search function. Most others don't. I can search before starting ANOTHER petition on the same topic.
Lots of Canadian content too!
Please can you remove step 3. I am sick and tired of skipping the top 10 most clicked changes i can make and having to go back all the way to the beggining and retype what is important to me. Alot of the stuff in the top 10 list i have seen over and over again most of the time i dont care. It would be nice if there was a list of subjects for me i am looking for with one step clicks instead of going through payment and social media options. Perhaps there is a button we can click to remove for our own personal reference such as getting rid of payment options and social media options. Im not alowed on social media anymore as my work doesnt allow it, and with my savings i cant afford to chip in $ here and there
This company- private for profit, not public non profit - has a curious way of turning one off donations into monthly charges on your credit card. Impossible to cancel. Almost impossible to contact. Use them at your peril as I have discovered.
It's unfortunate I have made a few contributions to this site. However after going over my statements I noticed a $26 recurring payment to which I never intentionally agreed on. I'm usually pretty keen on detail so they must hide it well. No judgement if you choose to donate through this site. Just be aware the membership verbiage. I myself will no longer be using change.org services.
This company is not a not for profit as their name suggests and they have a record of unscrupulous and biased business practices. To unsubscribe - they make you create an account so they can sell your eMail address. I'm not happy about being duped by this company. I will be much more careful if I decide to put my name on another petition. My inbox is filling with petitions that are mostly politically motivated and the majority do not align with my values.
The historic petition to free political prisoner Tommy Robinson has been sabotaged by allowing an identical petition to run at the same time, which has so far stolen 120,000 signatures from the original. This is an utter disgrace! These people are signing in good faith believing they are signing the only petition, which should rightly by now be nearing 3/4 million.
What use is an organisation that cannot be trusted to ensure that the full tally of signatures for a cause that is of international interest is accurately recorded? In my opinion this will cause everlasting damage to the reputation and credibility of (Change.Org).
Have been hacked twice recently, both times immediately after signing change.org petitions via Facebook even though I have virus protection. Co-incidence? I don't think so. Did you notice that an ad SUPPORTING Keystone XL as one of petitions they offer? Social change needed? Yes. Petitions a great way to make your voice heard? Yes! BUT NOT VIA CHANGE.ORG! Unfortunately they've sold out to the big corps. I'll sign petitions elsewhere and vote with my pocketbook, but not via 'Change'.)'(
I have been using change.org and enjoying signing petitions for several years now. I know that they are for profit, but it only mildly bothered me. Imagine my surprise and disgust when I got an email from them today asking me to pitch in $10 a month to "help their small team". Honestly! This is absolutely ridiculous and is bordering on fraud. They are not a charity. How can they consider asking me to donate to them? Should I donate to Starbucks to help them make their coffee? This is a disgusting abuse of public trust and I feel terrible when I think about anyone who falls for it. The poor non-profits that actually would use that money. Shame on you change.org. You are stealing from charities to add to your fat wallet!
NEVER give these people any money. These people are crooks. I lost $25 after trying to promote my petition and then they pulled it with no explanation. These people masquerade as idealists. They must have corporate owners with an agenda.
Looking for a great website that supports the causes of what is most important to people and their passions? Then Change.org is not the place you want to go. With their biased views and hatred for freedom of speech, they will take down any petition they deem 'inappropriate', and without notice or an explanation why! Would your petition for a cause you care about be with good intentions, no insults nor harsh language? Oh well! Change.org doesn't care! They only care about what money they can rake in from people with good intentions and silence those whom they do not agree with. It doesn't matter to them! Any petition! Any cause! They will shut you down if you do not share the same beliefs. Find a better credible source for your passions and skip the hate dribbling idiots from Change.org
Like other people in this site I am very disappointed with this "organization". Like many of you I signed up for a petition and did my contribution for that particular petition, I ended with a monthly payment charge. Canadian MasterCard refuse to help me because in their opinion this a " reputable institution" and what are they doing is consider a legal action. If you decide to help be aware it is so difficult to get rid of them. If they are legal they should change this fraudulent way to get peoples money.
Basically, anyone say whatever they like about whoever they like. They do not verify any of the information that people petition for! A site that allows themselves to be used this way, well, whats the difference in change.org & facebook?
Stay far, far away. I intended to contribute a set amount to sign a petition. As I hit the "submit" button, all of a sudden the terms were changed. They increased the payment I authorized by $10 and signed me up for a continuing monthly withdrawal through my PayPal account. Be forewarned. This site needs to be shut down.
I just found out this is a private "for profit" site. It appears that many of their so-called victims are professionals.
What brought this to my attention was a supposed victim of the actions of Wells Fargo here in Oakland. A quick online search showed the "victim" was a "professional" borrower and not a victim. That made me delve more deeply into this web site. Not sure where the site got my email.
Two times I have been "sucked in" to signing a petition at Change.org because I cared deeply about the issue involved. Both times I regretted it. They require your personal information and then use it to pester you. When you try to unsubscribe you get a fake "server misbehaving - try again!" message, indefinitely. I do not trust this site at all.
Change.org has a rating of 1.2 stars from 149 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Change.org most frequently mention credit card and social media. Change.org ranks 4th among Petition sites.
