I've had free trial for a tutoring for a week but they charged me $54 and then $30 twice which they are not willing to refund me cause they can't communicate better. They like to take money.
Overrated study tool which may be great for certain people, I was looking for a platform to help me with improving my grade with Intro to Financial Accounting, and I was looking for solutions that I could use to check my answers for the material was studying. Nope the answers were completely different to what I searched and searching for help with the material is frustrating. There is no free-trial, and if you do accidently purchase a subscription, you are not usually eligible for a refund you can get refunded in certain circumstances, I did when I accidently purchased this last year which was my fault. However, this time I was not happy with how unhelpful it was in helping me study for my accounting class, and I decided to call for a refund which I was refused due to their policy of no refunds. I will not be continuing my subscription after this month, and Chegg may work for some people great but please purchase a Chegg subscription at your risk because it may not give you the help you are looking for.
I mailed them books to sell back in December. I knew it would take up 10 business days to get the money I would receive back. After a week and a half passed from 10th business day I reached out to the company. I was told that "there's holiday's in between so you have to count those, it should be there tomorrow". Well duh, I did count the holidays but okay whatever, I can wait one more day. Well three days pass and still no check in my mailbox. I sent an email and got no response. I call the next day and they tell me "oh, there's a note in the system that says there's a delay in getting the check out to you. It should go out tomorrow and you'll get the check in 10 business days." At this point I am furious. No one thought to send me an email updating me on what's been going on? It's been almost a month and half and I have no money... they got their products but I have nothing to show for it. This is a horrible way to do business. I will never be selling any more books to the company. Luckily, my life did not depend on this check otherwise I would've been dead.
We pay a lot of money only to fail, what's the use of paying so much money if you going to fail? I failed two of my important assignments after getting answers from chegg, really dissapointing.
I have run into so many issues with Chegg it's unbelievable. I have been using Chegg to help me learn for 3 of my in-major core classes. First off, some of the solutions to problems are absolutely wrong and have been pointed out as wrong by multiple users, so I'm not sure why Chegg still keeps them up on the website. Second, the day before two of my exams Chegg logged me out for 48 hours for "suspicious activity" when I was trying to use Chegg on two of my devices. I let it slide because it's understandable that a subscription based website like Chegg will have methods to avoid multiple usage. Two days pass and my account is still locked and I reach out to customer service. Absolute worst customer service i have ever experienced. After being on hold for 30 mins, I was transferred around multiple times for the simplest problem. I would say my issue was not complex enough to warrant being on the phone for OVER an hour, but it was the beginning of the semester and I didn't face any other issues until finals time. Did not have a single issue after my first phone call to customer service until the day before a final. I called customer service at 9pm at night and some how was left hold again for over 30 mins. I don't think many people would be calling that late at night to warrant me waiting on the phone for that long, just for no one to talk to me. This is the absolute last straw and I, no matter the circumstance, will NOT be resubscribing to Chegg or what I like to call, an absolute waste of $15/month for the worst customer service out there.
I don't mind paying $15/month for the textbook solutions because they show step-by-step guides. When my teachers assign homework and I have no time to attend office hours, I use Chegg for a quick look over the problem.
However, DO NOT TRY THEIR TUTORING. I repeat DO NOT. Let me tell you, I had never been so stressed about my refunds as I was with this company. Their 30 minute free trial is a lie. I was charged $180 first lesson (that I didn't even get because of faulty time zones), then another $405 for scheduled lessons I didn't want. I was lucky that I checked my credit card transactions that day, otherwise I would have been too late to argue and dispute.
They are terrible with communicating guidelines. You don't know what you're getting into until after the mess happens.
My tutor was so patient even when I canceled the lessons. The tech support crew, on the other hand, I had to contact four times to get a single reply. I had incessantly emailed them, if that was what it took to get my money back.
I WOULD RATE THEM with 0 ZERO Stars if oossible. Chegg has horrible customer service and a business model that is to operate on looting money from Students. First, the material on Chegg is not always Accurate and has several incorrect references and materials. Second, they continue to Charge you renewal money WITHOUT SENDING RENEWAL REMINDERS. YOU CAN NOT EVEN DELETE YOUR CARD INFORMATION. We are students and may or may not require your service on regular basis. WHAT GAVE YOU THE RIGHT TO CONTINUE RENEWING WITHOUT SENDING THE RENEWAL NOTICE. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME...
I used their tutoring service and it worked out pretty well for me. I needed some math help and the tutor explained me everything and I was able to complete the task myself.
I hate this site so much, it is a waste of time and money as well as the answers being incorrect sometimes. Words truly don't do it justice how much I hate it.
Chegg does not care about students and literally only wants your money and don't kid yourself into thinking that customer service will be helpful at all or follow up with you. I accidentally sent back a book that was not rented from Chegg, it has been almost a year and the only thing they have offered me is coupons for my next purchase. I am a student putting myself through law school and their warehouse has been unable to find my $200 book. They have the book in stock but would not send me one of their copies nor would they give me any sort of credit to purchase a different book. I realize sending the book was my mistake but the handling of the situation just shows that they don't care about students and its alllll about the money. The best part is when the situation first happened, I tried to search their website for an answer because surely I am not the first person to do this. The "solution" is behind their paywall and they want you to pay their monthly fee in order to see the answer to a customer service question. On further investigation, this has happened to a lot of students and the same thing has happened to them. No follow up, no credit, no getting the book back. I am sure Chegg is now renting out my personal book and profiting on it but the best they can offer is a 10% coupon on my next purchase.
I have always rented & bought my textbooks through chegg.com & I have always had a great experience with the company. Now that I am a college graduate, I decided to sell my books back to them. They were both in excellent condition & I sent my books back within 8 days, which is what Chegg required. They quoted me only $20.00 for both books combined, but I thought, "Oh, 20 bucks is better than them sitting here collecting dust". After they have received the books, the company sent me an email saying that they are not going to pay me the quote I was quoted for the books. In fact, they are not going to pay me anything. They are giving me 2 options 1. To donate the books to them or 2. To pay $6.99 for them to ship the books back to me for me to sell somewhere else. It was a false quote of perfectly conditioned books and now that they have my books in their hands, they are not going to live up to the original quote. I am very displeased and I would not recommend anyone to sell their books to this company. Stick with selling them on Ebay or Amazon or back to the school that uses them for their courses.
I don't have a Chegg account and have never used its service, but I had recurring billing in my bank account for 1 year. I contacted Chegg and they told me to contact my bank for a refund as they can not locate any Chegg acount associated with my name/bank info. But Chegg refused to issue a document stating that I don't have any accounts with them. So I can't get a refund even I have reported a dispute to the bank.
After charging me every month for a year, they admitted that it is a case of fraudulent use of my financial information. However, they only provide me a refund of USD22 due to their '90 days refund policy like the bank'. They had been charging me USD22 every month for one year, more than USD 350 in total. At the end, I only got back USD22 from them.
I had been communicating with them on this recurring billing issue for months, none of their staff told me anything regarding the '90 days refund policy'. I asked them which day was first day and last day of the refund period of my case. They never answered and just ignored my request.
We did our very first textbook rental and this will be our last time to rent or buy from Chegg.com
On website and shipping slip, stated it would come with online access code(VISTAS 5E SE+SSPLUS VTXT), but no code upon receiving the book, so it made the rental useless, called the customer service, I was told online access code was not guarantee regardless what description on its website and shipping slip, really misleading, almost like scam, return the book right way, hopefully we can get full refund, never deal with Chegg.com again, absolutely not recommended, do not waste your time, go somewhere else even Chegg has a better price, because Chegg better price is worse than nothing
Chegg, is not a smarter way to student, it is deceptive way to student
Dont waste your money please! I was charged 20USD! They wont send you email or notification before renewal or anything. They wont help you once they have money. Useless site, dont fall for it.
Their stupid tracking system sucks. I use my work and home computer and it always says I reached my max limit. They are so greedy. They are constantly suspending my account.
DO NOT GO THROUGH CHEGG. I decided to sell my books through this site and I put 2 books in the same box. First off, it took me almost 2 months to get paid, and only reason I did was because I emailed them so many times about my books. Second off, they said they couldn't find my second book so I only got paid for one. This was their error because I sent them in the same box and their order numbers were the same.
Despite what the title of the rental says, the very fine print informs the buyer that you are not actually going to receive the product(s) you want to buy.
I failed the test, would have done better different resource - don't waste your money... I went back and forth and regret spending the money. Total waste
I was suspended of my account because I was searching for expert questions even though in my subscription it said that expert questions are unlimited.
I was always hearing about this website during my time in college, didn't actually attempt to use it until now. It seemed too good to be true that my required books could be that cheap, truth is it probably is. At first my order had like $20 of shipping added onto it, when I saw they had a promo code for free shipping. I cancelled my order so I could try to get free shipping, and it took 3 full days for the initial charge to be refunded. It wasn't even the actual order charge, it was like a preliminary test charge, which most places would only do like a $1 if such a test was necessary. When I was trying to redo my order after getting the money refunded, it kept saying it was declined, like I didn't have enough money in my account, except I did. I guess that was a stroke of luck though because that's when I started searching and found all the negative reviews. I'd consider myself lucky for not getting far enough into it to lose a significant amount of money, as I surely would have. Besides, I found all my required textbooks on Amazon for $30 cheaper in total than Cheggs, so no it's not actually the best resource for affordable textbooks either.
Answer: Half real half scam wil work for a day or 2 then lock you out
Answer: The monthly money is for an additional service. You can opt out of it at the time of your order. Supposedly. Check other reviews. Many of them say they were still charged after canceling the service. My best suggestion is to stay away from Chegg if at all possible.
Chegg has a rating of 1.2 stars from 457 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Chegg most frequently mention customer service, credit card and free trial. Chegg ranks 106th among Textbooks sites.
