I was always hearing about this website during my time in college, didn't actually attempt to use it until now. It seemed too good to be true that my required books could be that cheap, truth is it probably is. At first my order had like $20 of shipping added onto it, when I saw they had a promo code for free shipping. I cancelled my order so I could try to get free shipping, and it took 3 full days for the initial charge to be refunded. It wasn't even the actual order charge, it was like a preliminary test charge, which most places would only do like a $1 if such a test was necessary. When I was trying to redo my order after getting the money refunded, it kept saying it was declined, like I didn't have enough money in my account, except I did. I guess that was a stroke of luck though because that's when I started searching and found all the negative reviews. I'd consider myself lucky for not getting far enough into it to lose a significant amount of money, as I surely would have. Besides, I found all my required textbooks on Amazon for $30 cheaper in total than Cheggs, so no it's not actually the best resource for affordable textbooks either.
I would like to document the terrible experience I had with Chegg. In September of 2022, I subscribed to Chegg. I subscribed to the service in hopes that it would help me with schoolwork. Chegg was decently helpful but I stopped using it very soon after, about 3 weeks after subscribing. Just recently now in Jan 2023, I noticed that Chegg has been charging my card for a service I haven't been using. I understand that it's Chegg's policy for no refunds but that is completely an unfair policy. If someone can't cancel their subscription for (x,y,z) reasons, then Chegg is just collecting a free cheque from its customer which is completely unfair and even predatory. It's unfortunate that a company that is publicly listed on a stock exchange would have such a strict policy on services (especially some that aren't being used) and it's absurdly funny that a listed company would make it so difficult to refund $104.80...so a company that has a Market Cap of 2.59 billion dollars...which is $2,590,000,000... can't refund $104.80...insane.
Congratulations on checking out their reviews! Something I should have done. Dont bother with utilizing their tutoring services; their tutors profiles are total exaggerations: expertise in calculus, physics, computer science, you name it. They wouldnt be tutoring if they can get a proper job. Their profile is to draw you in to sign up for tutoring services which requires you to enter your credit card only to find out all the tutors are useless. Everyone said they do not know the answer to take on the case, yet one of the charged my credit card. Then they automatically enrolled me into their monthly subscription service even though I dont use their materials. Their customer service reps are used to getting requests for refunds. Their script goes something like we can only refund the prorated rate of this month, unfortunately i dont know what happened, we dont have records of activities. I am in the middle of filing a complaint with the BBB. What an unethical business model aimed at students.
I noticed that i have been banned from chegg for no reason, or maybe it was because i was making alot of money. They kept telling me i am not following Chegg honor code, but that was total bull$#*!.
CHEGG: I am not sure as these are answered by experts and unfortunately WE CAN NOT guarantee that the answers WILL always BE correct. But I can refund those three questions back for her, and she can try reposting those questions. The order is canceled, however you still can use the services until the end of the billing cycle. We can not refund the subscription unfortunately. Our terms of use does state that our SERVICES ARE NON REFUNDABLE and that we CAN NOT GUARENTEE THE ACCURACY.
ME: Why would my daughter want to risk her GPA any further using this site? Your services are not necessary if you cannot guarantee that what you are selling is worth while.
I have been suspended from my account that I pay $20 a month, for the 3rd time in the past 2 weeks. I first time was because I was scrolling "too quickly" between questions. The second time was because I switched from 1 register device to my other registered device which locked my account for 48 hours. Not even a full day after getting my account reinstated, my account is once again under another 48 hour hold because I looked at "too many questions". I AM NOT SHARING MY ACCOUNT, I AM NOT TAKING PICTURES OF THE ANSWERS, I AM USING MY ACCOUNT TO LOOK UP QUESTIONS AND FIND ANSWERS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS.
This website has ZERO privacy level.
If the school asked them about any user who put a question from one of their exams, assignments. Etc. Chegg.com share with the school your email, history in Chegg.com and even your private chats with tutors.
This year, many students got warnings, some of them kisked out of the school, just because they published assignment questions in Chegg, and their school showed them a full chatting log, the chat where they asked a tutor to teach them how to solve a question.
Chegg.com won't provide all these private info for free, I think they charge money for this level of what I call it, SPYING.
This happened with me personally where I got a message from the college investigating with me about an exam question publiched to Chegg. The weired thing here is that I am registered in Chegg.com with a new email the college doesn't know. The only place I said my real name was in the chatting with a tutor.
In short, Chegg.com will sell, or provide all your private data to however pay, or ask them to do.
Keep yourself away of this website.
Worst service ever. Banned my account for no reason and couldn't get a refund. I used it for less than a day and customer support couldn't do anything.
I AM ABSOLUTELY ANGRY AS I AM WRITING THIS. I SUBSCRIBED FOR THEIR SERVICES IN THE MORNING A 6:30. I SUDDENLY DON'T HAVE ACCESS, AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS CLAIMING THAT MY SUBSCRIPTION WAS UNSUCCESSFUL.YET THEY DEBITED THE R160
CHEGG is NOT worth it. Upcharges you and will lock you out of your account. It's a headache just to log in and most essential material is not on there.
Answer: Half real half scam wil work for a day or 2 then lock you out
Answer: The monthly money is for an additional service. You can opt out of it at the time of your order. Supposedly. Check other reviews. Many of them say they were still charged after canceling the service. My best suggestion is to stay away from Chegg if at all possible.
Chegg has a rating of 1.2 stars from 450 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Chegg most frequently mention customer service, credit card and free trial. Chegg ranks 106th among Textbooks sites.
