I signed up to a plan with Choice Home Warranty to cover all major appliances, including my air conditioner with an effective start date of coverage on October 13,2023. On that day, my air conditioner compressor failed, causing electrical interference on other appliances. I was relieved knowing I had recently signed up with Choice Home Warranty, only to find out that my air conditioner wasn't covered because they claimed it entered the plan with a preexisting issue. The unit worked fine on the morning of October 13,2023, so I was perplexed with what they told me regarding my claim. I would strongly urge anyone reading this review to not do business with Choice Home Warranty, as they have no intention of paying for appliance failure. They're a scam and shady company. If you enter into a contract with them, rest assured you WILL NOT have coverage on a claim. I give them ZERO stars! DON'T DO BUSINESS WITH CHOICE HOME WARRANTY!
I engaged with Choice Home Warranty four months ago, I submitted my first claim for my garage door opener on the 14th of August 2024. I initially submitted the claim through customer service and was informed that they would locate a technician for the job. Shortly thereafter they informed me I could use my own vendor and get a reimbursement, but the vendor would have to submit a diagnosis of the problem and a quote for work before they could approve the project. My vendor never contacted CHW with the required info so I located another vendor and had them do the work. When I tried to submit the receipt for the project to CHW they assigned a "Case Manager" to me whose sole purpose was to inform me that they denied my claim because I used a company that was not approved by CHW. It's obvious to me that their business model is to maximize the number of customers with inflated or fake reviews and the use of sales people to contact potential customers and convince them to use the service. The "Case Manager" was even able to cancel my policy and when I reengaged with her to appeal her decision she informed me that I was no longer a customer and could not appeal. Choice Home Warranty is a total scam. Buyers beware
I had a problem with my AC not cooling enough and they said I have a leak. The only thing they did was to refill the refrigerant after 3 times coming and going while they had to replace the part and it costs me thousands to replace the system. In another incident they even didn't bother to come and take a look and inspect the pipes! I purchased home warranty to have peace of mind not to go through hell! I canceled and they did not refund the last month since it was passed 3 days from the payment day! Not reliable at all!
My friend had issue with them for their AC and they had months of going back and forth for the service they supposed to get!
I wasn't happy with their service at all and do not even give them a star!

Just do your dudeligence and don't go based on only stars and the review as some reviews are there on their website by their employees or people who might benefit!

I am a Realtor and have dealt with many home warranties. This company is one of the worst. They try to get out of paying on any claim and especially the more expensive ones. I will not recommend this company to any of my clients moving forward. They only have a rating of 1.06/5 with the BBB and they are not accredited. They also have had a class action suit against them.

Don't buy a Home Warranty from this company. Other companies will cover systems as stated in the contract but Choice does not.

I have the warranty on my condo in Florida and they refused to pay on an AC claim that the contractor they sent out said the issue was due to normal wear and tear. They stated they pay for normal wear and tear on systems but that they did not agree with contractors diagnosis of normal wear and tear even though contractor inspected my AC.

I bought a plan, but when I call with a claim 9 months in they say I'm not covered. They admit their reasoning is wrong and assign me to a case manager. I was promised 3 different times that I would get a call, nothing. No supervisor will take a call, you have to email and hope they call back. They never call back.

My AC unit is approximately 20years old according to the information on the units and the technician that came out. And it's time for a replacement they usually last 10-15 years. They have denied the claim to replace the one that's out saying it's not due to normal wear and tear. Just anything to not cover the expenses. The woman at the customer service was super rude and unprofessional. Before you decide to go with this company Please check the BBB site and check out the lawsuits against them.

Check reports with BBB and the New Jersey Newark's Attorney Generals office. When I did the representative stated "we have so many complaints about this company I wish people would look into them before getting a warranty from them." +1 *******910. You have been warned I can't believe they allow a company like this to continue to do buisness? Wish I could give them a zero!

They are quick to collect monthly premiums, but will find every chance they can to deny a claim. Check the BBB. They were in a lawsuit for false advertisement and not paying claims - finding reasons to deny claims. Happened to me multiple times with them!

I have CHW and have had 0/7 claims paid. Latest was my AC. Went out 7/5/22 and it is 7/3/22 and no help from CHW.
They said they could not see bubbles from video I sent them of the leak. So I took the coil down stairs in the yard, AC tech pressurized it and we got photos of bubbles. They said they seen grass and that told them it was a different coil and the bubbles did not mean it was leaking. I said look at the copper markings in video and you can see it is the same coil. They denied the claim. I reported it 7/5/22 and it is 7/30/22 and if I had waited on them I would be hot down here in LA.
They are a total scam and if people are Interested email me at *******@yahoo.com and join a class action lawsuit.
We have to shut this scan fraudulent company down and get refunds on our worthless policies.

They are so quick at taking my money monthly but my garage opener is not fixed and they made every excuses to not pay for the repair. Their contractor is also arrogant and horrible. So trust me, they will never honor their contract and they will not pay for your repairs and continue draining your bank account. So stay away!

I got a Choice Home Warranty with my new house. The sellers paid for it and within a month I tried to make a claim on the refrigerator water filter housing being broken and leaking. CHW denied it as they said it was not covered. Fast forward to today as my warranty has expired and I have gotten at least 35 calls all from the same area code of 848 all with sequential #'s. They have left voice mails and even called from Texas as I have an app on my phone that shows its Choice Home Warranty and I just hit deny and block.

Do not use Choice Home Warranty. I needed my kitchen and bathroom faucets fix due to leaking. They approved the bathroom, but not the kitchen, Said it was due to a previous installation damage. I've been in the house 17 year and never had the faucet repaired. I had to pay the tech $85 to replace a washer. I can't use the cold water because they won't pay. Now I have to miss work again just in case they decide to cover it after an appeal specialist has been assigned via email. Then I will have to call the specialist to discuss them fixing it. This is the first time I've used them, but it will be the last.

I filled a claim and they were not able to assigned a contractor to me and sent an email about reimbursement and getting my own contractor. I found a contractor and he came out to assess the problem. We submitted documents and pictures as requested and they denied my claim stating the the heating unit was tampered with that someone broke the pressure switch. The unit is 11 years old. I submitted an appeal and advised them no one tamper with my system and that the unit was working a few days ago and that no one has looked at the unit. I was told that was their decision to deny my claim and that it would be costly to repair and that it was not wear and tear. It seems that they tried to find a reason to not repair my system.

After 30 days I had a shower pipe problem. They did not want to cover it because they said it was pre existing but it did not happen until after 30 days. They finally relented after lots of hassle and paid for it. Then two months later I had a water heater break. They did not want to cover it. So I canceled and asked for a refund.

Although "Hose bibs" are shown as covered, CHW continues to deny claim. The contractor they send are 1-2 star ratings. Contractors in my opinion who are in cahoots with the warranty company to deny claims. Because their contractor cut a 16x16 hole in my formal dining room wall without CHW permission, repairs not covered. The cause of the pipe leak could not be determined without opening wall up. Run from this company!'

CHOICE does not care about its customers nor its vendors. STAY AWAY. They are cheap, don't cover anything and don't pay their vendors. Horrible customer service. There are much better Home Warranties out there that work for the customer, not for the money.

In June 2023 I had to replace a covered broken part on my pool equipment. CHW approved the claim and their selected technician used 13 YEARS OLD replacement part to complete the repair. I even sent proof to CHW. They did not care. Decide for yourself whether purchasing a warranty plan from CHW is actually worth it for your home.

One of the worst experience with customer care and lot of miscommunication. They are taking a lot time to assign a technician and they wont approve the technician we go for. As long as we dont have any cliams they are good. Once you submit a claim they wont respond properly. It goes to customer care in some country were they dont understand how thing operate here in US. I would say they are just another cheating company. My water heater was 21 years old and it is keep leaking, checked with couple of technicians both of them recommended to replace it. But these guys wont approve the claims as it is not enough information to approve the claim.

When My AC broke down, choice Home Warranty sent a tech who tried to replace the control board on the machine twice and then gave up. The second tech said the entire unit is dead and needs replacing. Choice home warranty said that they do not cover replacement and denied payment. Then I contacted the original company that installed the unit, they said that the only thing i needed is to replace control board and that it will cost $350. I called the case manager Mr. Marc Ruehle with Choice Home Warranty who said to go ahead and send the bill. A week later he said that this payment has also been denied because i did not get the authorization prior to paying the other company. Obviously this company that was sued several times by states Atty Generals is perpetrating a legal scam.

Choice home warranty is not reliable its been over 2 weeks to resolve my issue. Upon purchasing my new home, I decided to select the upgraded warranty package. Within the first month, I had a bad exterior leak from rain. While this is covered by Choice Home Warranty, they required that all of my solar (which was no where near the leak area) be removed - this would have costs me thousands and they knew it. They acted in bad faith. My second claim was my primary pool pump which went out. They couldn't find a technician so I used my own. The pump and labor ended up costing me $2500 - after 4 months of arguing, CHW agreed to reimburse me for $500. In addition to their overall approach in screwing you, their customer service is awful. You primary communicate via a web portal, or if you'd like to speak with someone overseas and wait an hour on hold, that was also an option. I'm canceling my policy today!

These people are notorious at selling their top priced products and then renegating on the promises by showing you fine print exclusions in there multipage contract which contradicts with the main content. Very unprofessional repairmen.
