This is a great public school solution for students who need that extra time to complete lessons. They learn at their own pace in the environment you create for them. This is our 6th year using this curriculum.
I have had a child in ca in Pennsylvania and another in ca in tn. The tn branch is a complete joke. Nobody takes responsibility or helps IF and that is a huge IF, they even bother responding to you. My child was confirmed for gifted since the end of last school year. Here I am contacting EVERY person in the webmail for an answer. The assistant principal NEVER responds and the teachers apparently do not have the 'authority' to fix the problem or fi d out what's wrong. Terrible lazy workers. Par the course for TN workers!
Hello Sai. Thank you for your feedback. I will share your curriculum comments with our curriculum development team and the scheduling comments with school administrators. As you and your student continue to do work this school year, I encourage you to take advantage of the feedback option on each lesson to share your thoughts.
I do want to assure you that we are committed to creating an online school environment where every student feels welcome, safe, and respected, and we want our lessons reflect that commitment. We also encourage Learning Coaches to take advantage of their unique role to supplement the curriculum to highlight family values and beliefs. ~Kim
The school is overall good but can be stressful if you get the wrong teachers. The school didn't enroll my child until 4 weeks into the first day of school so they were very behind in lessons. The home room teacher is incredibly disrespectful, rude, and unhelpful. My child tells me they understand nothing from the lessons, and the feedback they get from their teacher is nothing but slander. Please pick a different school because this one is not it.
Hello! Thank you for your feedback. We are committed to providing a high-quality education for all students, and I am sorry to hear that wasn't your experience. We’d love to share your concerns with our school administrators. Can you please email us at community@connectionsacademy.com with your name and state as listed on the account and any specific details you’d like us to share? ~Kim
This system of schooling is not for everyone, if you child is committed to school a self-learner and just love learning and is not a social butterfly, this is great but if not you will need your traditional school my middle schooler loves it and never complains about how much work he has he is in sports and it does give him flexibility if you stay on track finish lessons, most LL have a schedule so my review fall under good for my child the software I give it 2 starts..
They take long with getting the students enrolled and they take forever to respond back once you text or email them.Ive texted them yesterday and still have not gotten a text back.
Hi Rashaya, We're sorry to hear that you've had a negative experience with the enrollment process. Can you please email us at community@connectionsacademy.com so we can try to assist? Thank you. ~Alexis
My daughter & I are 100% grateful for the very detailed & defined opportunity she was given throughout the school year. Your communication and great timely matters, were on point, correct, & direct. Thank you all for everything you do for all the children who attend Connections Academy. It was and is a pleasure. We thank you dearly.
We're thrilled that your daughter is doing so well at our school, Sarah! Thank you for taking the time to leave your review! ~Alexis
We came from a regular school and my daughter had learning disabilities. She thrived so much in online school. It gave her the time she needed instead of rushing to the next topic. The teacher Miss.I was so wonderful and so willing to help. My family felt seen it was such an amazing experience we are coming back for first grade.
We're happy to hear that we have been such a great fit for your daughter, Beth! We hope you have an amazing summer and look forward to learning with you next school year! ~Alexis
This was our first year with SCCA and let me tell you, what an amazing experience we have had. My family loves the program and being able to go on these field trips every few months to interact with other students. There is so many opportunities with SCCA! We've had an amazing year!
We're so happy to hear that your family has taken advantage of the socialization opportunities that South Carolina Connections Academy offers, Tiffany! We hope you have an amazing summer! ~Alexis
My daughter had really good experience with connections academy, the teachers, and the administrators are awesome always communicate with me via email or phone or text
To let me know my daughter progress, or if I had a question, definitely I get the answer right away, and I did register daughter for the next year.
Thanks connections academy 🙏🏼
We're glad to hear you've had such a positive experience and will be returning with us next school year, Rabia! Thank you for your review! ~Alexis
Since my son started school I have had issues with his teachers not communicating with me. We have also had issues with attendance and sleeping in class. Connections Academy has not only communicated openly with me to make sure I knew what to do but also was able to work around my son's sleeping issues! Attendance wasn't really and issue outside of learning the new way which they were very helpful and happy to explain to me.
Enrollment at the start of the school year was an easier process than if we had gone with traditional schooling and the staff was willing to answer any questions I had. They would also contact me to make sure I was understanding what they were asking for.
I love that at the end of the year they were already starting enrollment for the coming school year and that I was able to complete everything before summer really started so I don't have to rush to get my son enrolled, buy school supplies, and figure out schooling schedules in August. I now have the entire summer to get the school supplies and work on his schedule for next year
We're so happy to hear that you and your son are having such a great experience at our school, Tabitha! We hope you enjoy your summer and look forward to learning with you next school year! ~Alexis
My son has been going to Connections academy for two years now. He has never attended a public brick and mortar school and so far, he doesn't wish too. He feels happier and safer at home, after hearing stories from his friends who attend brick and mortar school. And let's be honest, he doesn't have to worry about flus and strep 24/7 as brick-and-mortar schools have to. It is unfortunate that some choose to send their kids to school sick and spread viruses. He as the option to do his work on his own time as fast or as slow as he needs too. It is also awesome that he can travel with me whenever we choose to go adventure and share light and love without having to miss school. We plan to do online school all 12 seasons. Happy kids are successful kids indeed. I love getting to be by his side while he learns and grows, because I don't want to miss a thing. The teachers at connections academy truly personalize each kids learning when needed for one-on-one sessions. No kid feels left behind with the awesome commitment of connections academy teachers. The kindness and understanding they share is only what I want my son to experience. Thank you, connections academy.
Thank you for your kind words, Skyler! We're happy to hear that your son is able to learn in a safe environment that allows him to truly thrive! ~Alexis
My student loves this school and the experience she's had throughout the years here. The teachers are fantastic and deserve to be recognized for the support and encouragement they give to each student. They all seem to do whatever they can to help the students in any area needed. One on one is great. As with everything there are bumps and curves to adjust to however, communication with all those involved in the learning mages it an enjoyable time. Not perfect but definitely worth it. No bullying or harassment allowed. Respect is earned and given by all. Thanks for a pleasant educational experience that I know I'm grateful for in that my child feels comfortable going to school.
We love to hear that your student is comfortable going to school, Robin! Thank you for recognizing our hard-working teachers and sharing your experience! ~Alexis
My son struggled in traditional public school. He was having difficulty keeping up with in class lessons and due to class sizes, his teachers often did not have time to repeat themselves or work with him one on one. He has always been a C or D student. Switching to Connections Academy has been the best decision I've ever made for him. He's now able to work at his own pace, live lessons aren't overwhelming and allow him ample breaks in between classes to regroup, and his teachers are available for one on one help if he needs it. He has been an A and B student this entire semester and even retains the information he has learned. I am so thankful we found this academic community and we are excited for the next school year.
We never like to hear that students struggle with their schoolwork, but we love that your son has been able to learn in an environment that allows him to reach his full potential! Thank you for sharing, Samantha! ~Alexis
Connections Academy has been a very easy to follow program for my child. I have other children in different programs that are much more difficult to navigate. Re-enrollment was a breeze, with prompts to keep you on task. My only issue is not enough parent-teacher follow-ups. They said they require them, but I only had one at the very beginning of the year.
Hi Aron, Thank you for taking the time to leave your review! We're glad to hear that re-enrolling your student for next school year was easy! Can you please email us at community@connectionsacademy.com so we can connect you with a staff member about the parent-teacher follow-ups? Thanks! ~Alexis
This has been hands down the best experience for my child. The in person school did not work for my child. He went from loving school to hating it when he was in person. He came to Connections as a 1st grader and is now heading to 6th grade I really saw his passion for school come back while attending connections academy. His teachers in all grades has been so helpful and provide the resources for your child to succeed. The entire staff keeps you in the know and make everything accessible to you. I am able to reach out and feedback is always provided. It takes special educators to make a child feel the love for school virtually and I appreciate all of you who has help in doing so for my child. Thank you!
This warms our hearts, Deneishia! We love that your student has been able to truly thrive at our school! ~Alexis
Last year this school was a mess. This year the teachers are amazing. Mrs. Weber, Mrs. Shaw, Mrs. Welch, Mr. Nickels are my daughter's sixth-grade teachers. They are accommodating. They always return calls, are respectful, thorough when grading papers in such a way that they explain why you got something wrong and how to fix it. I've even had moments when I've had personal issues with my daughter, and a couple of the teachers have taken the time to listen. I do wish they had more textbooks as most of them are online, but the curriculum overall is excellent.
My daughter is in the first grade and the workload is insane. She sometimes had to sit in front of a computer for 5 hours a day just to finish. It is way above grade level and they expect way to much from a 6 year old child. Some teachers don't respond to emails or do what they are supposed to do. I ended up pulling her out and putting her back in our regular public school. I would not suggest this program to anyone. It has caused severe stress and anxiety for my child.
We maybe don't know all the ropes, but everyone is very helpful. Sami is doing so good, on the honor roll, besides working some days 12 hours at a retirement home. She is enjoying both. Love the flexibility!
Hi Maxine, We're glad to hear that everyone has been helpful as you navigate a new learning environment! We are so proud of Sami for being on the honor roll! ~Alexis
My daughters went here for a year and it was the worst thing we did. The tech system is old and clunky and your kid ends up doing WAY more hours than is needed. Additionally they just messed me around for a month and cost my kids an entire month of education - where they could end up being held back from CA mistakes!
Hi Susan. I would be happy to ask an enrollment manager to review your students’ accounts. Please email me at community@connectionsacademy.com. Please include the school name and your students’ first and last names, and I will get back to you asap. ~Kim
High school was always a concern for us just because the world is; let's be honest a little nuts. I knew I made the right choice when on the day we pulled her from Boston Public Schools. A student was caught going into the School with a gun. Because he had been bullied and was tired of it. After speaking with my daughter the horror stories she told us of fights everyday; fire alarms and just nonsense. Two weeks later a parent and student removed as another student arrested with a gun. My daughter now has straight A's and last semester finished all her work a week early because she is excited for school again. Not to mention no more arguments about going to school or running around getting her to school. School life is so good my wife just finished her first semester of College! I can't say it enough; this is the best thing we have done for our daughters education!
Hi Jason, We're glad to hear that we've been able to provide a safe learning environment for your daughter and that she's doing so well at our school! ~Alexis
Answer: Work at your own pace is the biggest lie out there. Supplies are usually quick to arrive though.
Answer: That is a very good question Dee. We were drawn in with that promise as well. They use exampmes of child athletes and child actors (at least they did when we were going through their website looking for schooling options) as examples of how flexible their program is but we found it to be a very different experience.
Answer: Do not put your child in this program i hate it i switched to connexus i could get more time in the gym and work out i used to spend five hours in the gym in normal school but now im only limited to one hour a day because i have so much work.the teachers never respond and its horrible they dont help me and when im at gym they call then i cant i pick up so they call my parents who are at work and will get in trouble if on there phones. I hate tis school and everyone in it and your kids will to so DO NOT DO IT! 1111
Answer: Attendance is more important to the school keeping it's Charter, than making sure a student is truly on track academically. The School has no communication skills, which is why it probably attracts lazy teachers.
Answer: I find that people take the time to vent about bad experiences rather than take the time to write reviews for good experiences. If things are working, why scour the internet for reviews. Every kiddo/parent will have a different experience with Connections Academy. Like any school program, it's not going to be right for everyone, not everyone will like a teacher, or administration or class... It's a rigorous school, not a homeschool program with lots of flexibility and curriculum that can be changed. It's working for my 7th grader, but it is hard and we wouldn't be enrolled if he didn't have me to sit by him 80% of the time. Otherwise he's getting an excellent education in Oregon and we love the teachers.
Answer: Yes, you can do you your at any time. I start at 5:00am and finish at 11:00am.
Answer: Maybe once a month. The student might get a phone call from his or her homeroom teacher on a monthly basis. Other than that, unless you or the student contact the teacher individually, then the interaction is done as a whole in the Live Lesson rooms. And so much outside stuff goes on during Live Lessons, the students do not get a lot out of them.
Answer: Hi Tina, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per day), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. Outside of the LiveLesson sessions, work is done independently, and students can typically complete their schoolwork any time of the day, any day of the week. ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Malorie, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per week), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. In general, there is no set time to log in outside of the LiveLesson sessions, so students can typically work any time of the day, any day of the week. For information specific to the school(s) in your state, please email us at community@connectionsacademy.com. Thanks! ~Alexis
