I've been going to Connections (ARCA) for 3-4 years now, I'm in 9th-grade rn. The school is more worried about passing than anything else, they claim they care SO MUCH about the students, but they do not. If they did, they'd address the concerns that I brought up and not completely ignore them. They do not care about the students. I realized most reviews were made by parents, not students. Is it helpful to other parents? Yes, it is! But you need to also look at how the student feels. Most students I met (which was not a lot, because this school doesn't care about social interactions.) Does not like this school, most cheat because this school throws so much stuff at you. Lessons have many grammar errors, and the questions can be wrong, confusing, or have more than one correct answer, but you have to pick one answer anyway. If this school did what they claimed, I wouldn't be here. As a student with learning problems, I feel like the school does not care about me and many other students. They expect everyone to learn the same way. So if I had to say, this school NEEDS to be fixed and NEEDS to change for the better. I am going to leave after this year is over.
Edit: I want to add this. It matters from school to school. ARCA isn't good, no social interaction, no talking, nothing. At the time of making this, I was trying to do my work, but I needed to stop, there is just so much work. The weird thing is, I like reading, but for learning it's a no-go. I'm better off learning from someone talking to me, the normal school that I'm going to next year is good. No bullying, most people are nice, and it's in a really good area. If you are not good with in-person learning, your local public school is really bad, or you like being by yourself a lot, this school would be okay for you. It's just not for me. I felt like I needed to add this, so if you're fine with the stuff I said, then the school wouldn't be bad for you.

This school had provided my child the best education opportunity she can get in a homeschooling environment with professional teachers and staff highly recommended for someone with health problems like my child
As a parent of a child who has an IEP and is enrolled in the Special Education Dept. we are truly blessed to have found Connections Academy. Our local public school district struggles in adequately supporting and understanding students with IEP's leading many parents to transfer their children or home school. Bullying and administration issues were the main reason that we moved our 7th grader to online schooling. She is now thriving! She has continuously tested 2 grade levels behind since the 2nd grade. She is currently testing at her grade level! The teachers are supportive and understanding. Her IEP is being followed and managed as new diagnosis are currently being found. Connections Academy was the perfect fit for our family and daughter's needs.
Your student's hard work does not go unnoticed, Rebecca! We love that we have been able to allow her to truly thrive. Thank you so much for sharing! ~Alexis
The curriculumn is very complete and they focus on what students should know. The flexibility of schedule is also very nice. Having your kids study at home betters the parent/child relation 100%.
We love that you're able to be more involved in your student's education, Maria! Thank you for your review! ~Alexis

My wife and I love Conection Academy, since my son studies here. We have time to study other things and go out more, so that he doesn't get up in a bad mood in the morning and eats healthier.
My son learned a lot. We love

Our 8 years with Ohio Connections Academy has been everything we hoped for. The academics and curriculum are on par with brick and mortar schools. The teachers are always exceptional and put the students first. The therapists are always highly qualified and dedicated to the children they help. All of the staff are very dedicated and do everything they can to provide an excellent education for the children that are part of the new modern way of providing education for your children in a flexible environment. We are highly satisfied and plan to continue with Connections Academy until graduation.

I enrolled my 5 children with Florida Connections Academy in 2019. My children have thrived in this program. They are learning so much more, because they are able to get one on one attention not only from me, but from the teachers as well. They are able to take the time they need on each subject and not feel rushed to get something done. All of the teachers and staff are so great! They are always willing to help when my kids need it. They always message back quickly when I have a question or even if my children have a question. We love this school and I plan on all 5 of my children graduating with Connections Academy.
This warms our hearts, Carrie! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your review of Florida Connections Academy! ~Alexis
This sxhool has great field trips for students to interact with others. They have a great course selection and electives. My daughter had anxiety about the crowded hallways in school and feels comfortable and can work at her own pace and usually is ahead of the completion dates
Thank you, George! We're glad that your daughter is comfortable while doing her schoolwork and that your family is taking advantage of the socialization opportunities! ~Alexis
The best part of Connection Academy by far are some of the teachers, one in particular is Scott Collins.my son is a student of his.
You could not ask for a better teacher to work with your child he just makes it easy. The kids love him and he is an overall amazing person. If it wasn't for Scott I don't know how things would be for my child that faces some speech challenges. I am so glad we've had the opportunity to work with Scott. I'm so grateful and appreciative.
Thank you for your kind words, Patty! We're so happy to hear that Mr. Collins has had such a positive impact on your student's education. ~Alexis
It has always been easy to adapt and get the enrollment done. Going into year 6 with yall for 11th grade year.
Wow, six years! That's awesome, Melissa! Thank you for sharing! ~Alexis
This school has wonderful teachers and school staff my daughter loves to go to school every day it makes her happy to see the other children
We are thrilled to see this, Heather! Our teachers are the cornerstone of our schools and we love to hear that they have such a positive impact on their students. Thank you! ~Alexis
They lock down lessons and mark your student absent for the 0's they give even if the student takes 9 hours to try to complete and doesn't make it! Then they will call truancy of absences even though the student is trying to complete the ridiculous amount of work they give! They change parents hours to 0 hours so it looks like student wasn't attending! AVOID THIS SCHOOL AT ALL COST! Especially if your child is disabled because it WILL CAUSE SEVERE ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION FOR THE DISABLED! And, good luck trying to get paperwork to transfer, as this is also a nightmare from this school! Please do not put your children in this school! From Parent!

Too much work for parents and students! If you don't keep up they will lock down all lessons instead of skipping one and moving on! Then when you get WAY behind (because of them) they will kick you out and make if hard to find another school! Avoid at all cost!
I submitted required documents associated with registration process Dec 2023. I was told to submit attendance report and most recent report card on 01/04/2024.I followed all required steps submitted the last 2 documents. All documents had been reviewed and verified. Kept calling for updates response was same by every agent I spoke to which was everything had been verified and received and I needed to allow time for placement to be done. I was instructed to allow email for further instructions.NEVER received any emails so I kept calling...kept being told to wait for placement to place son in classes. After waiting for so long I was devastated to be told that I had missed registration and I would have to wait until next semester. This isnt good customer service. Was made aware the error was on enrollment end and no error of my own. I placed several complaints was told I would get a update never got any updates so had to keep calling. At this point nothing has been done.Registration for low country academy failed my child. I fought so hard to get him enrolled and stayed on top of getting all required documents in. All documents were in on time there is no reason my son shouldn't have been enrolled.I AM DISGUSTED AND I AM HURT...
Hi Deloris, We're sorry to hear you've had such a frustrating experience with the enrollment process at Lowcountry Connections Academy. We attempted to reach out to you privately but did not hear back. We do have two schools that serve students in grades K-12 in South Carolina, and South Carolina Connections Academy still has enrollment open for the remainder of this school year. If you are interested in moving your account from Lowcountry Connections Academy to South Carolina Connections Academy, please call our Family Enrollment Counselors at 866-492-2435. ~Alexis

Answer: Work at your own pace is the biggest lie out there. Supplies are usually quick to arrive though.
Answer: That is a very good question Dee. We were drawn in with that promise as well. They use exampmes of child athletes and child actors (at least they did when we were going through their website looking for schooling options) as examples of how flexible their program is but we found it to be a very different experience.
Answer: Do not put your child in this program i hate it i switched to connexus i could get more time in the gym and work out i used to spend five hours in the gym in normal school but now im only limited to one hour a day because i have so much work.the teachers never respond and its horrible they dont help me and when im at gym they call then i cant i pick up so they call my parents who are at work and will get in trouble if on there phones. I hate tis school and everyone in it and your kids will to so DO NOT DO IT! 1111
Answer: Attendance is more important to the school keeping it's Charter, than making sure a student is truly on track academically. The School has no communication skills, which is why it probably attracts lazy teachers.
Answer: I find that people take the time to vent about bad experiences rather than take the time to write reviews for good experiences. If things are working, why scour the internet for reviews. Every kiddo/parent will have a different experience with Connections Academy. Like any school program, it's not going to be right for everyone, not everyone will like a teacher, or administration or class... It's a rigorous school, not a homeschool program with lots of flexibility and curriculum that can be changed. It's working for my 7th grader, but it is hard and we wouldn't be enrolled if he didn't have me to sit by him 80% of the time. Otherwise he's getting an excellent education in Oregon and we love the teachers.
Answer: Yes, you can do you your at any time. I start at 5:00am and finish at 11:00am.
Answer: Maybe once a month. The student might get a phone call from his or her homeroom teacher on a monthly basis. Other than that, unless you or the student contact the teacher individually, then the interaction is done as a whole in the Live Lesson rooms. And so much outside stuff goes on during Live Lessons, the students do not get a lot out of them.
Answer: Hi Tina, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per day), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. Outside of the LiveLesson sessions, work is done independently, and students can typically complete their schoolwork any time of the day, any day of the week. ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Malorie, Teachers schedule LiveLesson sessions (usually one per subject per week), and other work is done independently. Teachers are available outside of the virtual classroom for more support if needed. In general, there is no set time to log in outside of the LiveLesson sessions, so students can typically work any time of the day, any day of the week. For information specific to the school(s) in your state, please email us at community@connectionsacademy.com. Thanks! ~Alexis
Answer: Hi Monique, Many students with special needs thrive in online school. Can you please email us at community@connectionsacademy.com so we can connect you with the Special Education team in your state and also provide you with additional eligibility information about the school(s) in your state? Thank you! ~Alexis
We're proud to be able to offer an education option that allows your student to reach their full potential, Sorina! ~Alexis
