Crpgaddict is run by a man who refuses to reveal his real name, job, photo, etc. Originally it was a blog with regular posts describing computer role play games with a sense of dedication and going from the very earliest to the more recent. However now the comments get very political and the owner suppresses people he doesn´t agree with. The ratings of games are all over the place, at times being absurdly unfair or giving too much praise where it isn´t deserved. Now he reviews games way outside the genre, and hides some posts unless some people agree to pay him a subscription each month--which is against the original spirit of his blog and how most blogspot sites work. He disappears for periods of time and there´s evidence he plagiarises and copies pictures and reviews from other sources. Very disappointing.
Crpgaddict is a blog using a freemium approach. You can subscribe to patron and pledge to pay the owner each month. Originally he didn´t do this approach. Unfortunately it means the free reader of the site misses important information, including when the site author disappears for a stretch of time. The reviews are all about role playing games and whilst the site is over 10 years in the making, the quality of entries has decreased. It´s more whimsical and offbeat than before, his ratings of games are less reliable... but the worst is how he treats people who comment and disagree with him. There can be some hostility if you want to have a different opinion and he can delete some comments without warning.
The CRPG Addict is an excellent blog going through CRPGs in chronological(as much as possible) order. It has as of time of writing, completed almost every CRPG from 1975-1992 and is still active, usally updated every three days or so. I am not sure why the other reviews are so negative, but to combat some misinformation: no articles about games are hidden behind the patron, really only status updates. So all the content about games is 100% still free. He does get political from time to time, and is definatly liberal, but I would say only 1 in 20 posts have some overtly political content, and even then its usallly a small, (but truly unwarranted) joke that I think can be easily passed over in favor of the otherwise generally good writing and research( almost academic level). As for silencing critics, I am not sure where the other reviewer is coming form. CRPG addict actually tends to leave very negative anonymous comments about his blog up for all to see, despite the fact anonymous comments are technically against his rules. He can however be cantankerous when responding to comments, however. Once again, it is not something that hurts the quality of the rest of his writing and coverage, the breath of it just overwhelms any other similar project by a single person.
