I'm really disappointed at Crunchyroll for not giving Asian subscribers One Piece or My Hero Acadamia which is kinda selfish so I cancelled my trial because of this.
Crunchyroll is da best homeboi. Can watch all my favorite cartoons without any problems, loads fast so I can start watching anytime.
They cant even get the free version together so im never paying for it, I have even moved onto Tubi to finish off an anime I thought only Crunchyroll had. They blast you with commercials, the app freezes, you have to restart it and then more commericals, so at this point you have wasted over 5 minutes just to start the show, then 2 minutes in, more commericals and if you rewind for any reason, it goes back through the commericals again.
Thats when its not freezing mid commercial, it also doesnt remember which episode you were on, even though it knows you watched it, so if your on episode 80 and accidently click out of the episode, it makes you click through the 79 other episodes all over again.
Funimation and Tubi have much better functioning tv apps and I am currently using those instead, the app is beyond frustrating and they dont have alot of dubbed animes if you like english when compared to Funimation. I never purchased the sub for Crunchyroll cuz if it works that poorly while free, why would I waste money on it?
Unhappy with constant bugs, and errors that occur which disrupt stream, and cause for negative experience.
I wanted to watch Attack on Titan and Dragon Ball Super on this service, because I wanted to watch them. On google it said it was "free" so I had high hopes, and god I was wrong. They say it's free, but in reality, you get about 20% free. For instance, you get about 30 episodes in Dragon Ball Super and season one of Attack on Titan, so I guess that was the "free things you get". Also, have the time Crunchyroll buggs out and you can't watch anything, or at least that's what's happening to me. I would like to say I have ATTEMPTED to watch a show, but I get an add every time the camera angle changes. You used to be able to actually WATCH a whole show, like Attack on Titan being COMPLETELY FREE for a while, with a few newer episodes being Premium Only, and then turning back into free, BUT NOW? Oh, I wish I didn't have to say this but EVERY EPISODE FROM SEASON 2 TO THE FINAL SEASON OF ATTACK ON TITAN IS PREMIUM ONLY! Use this if you like to waste 1 hour of time to try to get some worthless piece of garbage that is about as reactive as a blind snail to somehow work. In the finally I would like to say this, don't use Crunchyroll, but if you do, good for you because that means you paid $7.99 a month on a wacky, no good, useless, dumb service that can go do a belly flop 1000 feet up in the air onto rock hard concrete.
I watching my favorite anime in this site but if you want all episode of anime and good quality of video you need pay.
They won't reply to my emails and aren't providing a refund. So my order is in limbo and I'm out almost $100.
A good site if you want to watch anime bad things is 1 there is religional content limitation and price is high
ADS ADS ADS & MORE ADS! Sure, If you plan to watch without paying ads are expected, ok fine. But you will find out VERY quickly that the watching experience is almost INTENTIONALLY HORRIBLE without upgrading. A 20min EP is EASILY 45+mins! First, you'll get an ad immediately before any of the EP plays. Then you'll get BARELY 2 mins into the EP before another ad plays. Keep in mind that the ad durations are VERY LONG because you'll be forced to sit through 3 back to back ads each time (you can't even pause them) and they come in pretty loud each time, also the ads hardly vary so be prepared to watch 20+mins of identical, loud, and skip-less ads EVERY. SINGLE. TIME!
After the second round of ads it'll look like you can pretty much watch the rest of the EP freely…NOPE, not really because majority of that time will be the intro to the show. Then, it'll often replay parts you already saw before the ads, it'll feel like there's no order/flow. Another issue, the subtitles will often not show; if you try and fix/re-select your sub it will auto-restart the EP which will FORCE you to watch MORE ADS starting from the very beginning.
My experience became unbearable very quickly. I upgraded to premium with 14day free trial and now EVERYTHING is UNBELIEVABLY smooth! NO ADS, no buffering, no subtitle issues, just quick, smooth, peaceful watching. It literally doesn't even feel like the same streaming service. Free version is so bad in comparison that its clear Crunchyroll tries to FORCE customers into paying. NOPE! I will be cancelling immediately after trial ends.
They have great deals in their store everyday and they have all of the latest titles in Anime and Manga.
Won't let you cancel your premium membership through their broken website. Customer service is non existent.
This would be a great website if they actually had more good anime. Every season, they are missing some of the best anime, like Arlsan Senki, Psycho-Pass, Elfen Leid, Shingeki no Bahamut, Dimension W, Overlord, Death Parade, Mirai Nikki, Zankyou no Terror, Tokyo Ghoul, and my personal favorite: One-Punch Man.
It gets two stars because it gives you a free trial, enough time to figure out it's garbage without spending money on it.
There's no way I can see my experience as anything but engineered thievery. I tried to cancel my premium membership for months, only getting an error that said they couldn't process the request at this time. Being a busy person, I did what probably hundreds do; I shrugged my shoulders, said it's just $7, and said I'd try again later. Of course, it's my fault for often forgetting about it. HOWEVER... IT WAS NEVER AN ERROR. Turns out if you pay with paypal, crunchyroll doesn't allow you to cancel through their site, you have to cancel through paypal. Why was this information not given when I tried to cancel? Why did I have to go searthing to figure out this information? IT'S BECAUSE CRUNCHYROLL KNOWS MANY PEOPLE WILL HAVE MY WAIT AND SEE ATTITUDE. People are waiting to try cancelling again later while Crunchyroll knowingly steals their money when they often forget about it. To top all this off, they have no customer service line to call and talk to a human about this issue. Seriously, this company is an engineered scam.
Through out watching the anime i was dis-satisfied about the amount of ads(12max)in the platform so n
I was encouraged to use crunchyroll to view the anime I love from anywhere in the world. Maybe once it was ok. Now... it is a nightmare.
Many sites offer a "ad based" or "pay to experience no ads" type of subscription and crunchyroll claims to be one of them.
However, you will soon find that ads are used not occasionally, but incessantly... to force you to subscribe or go insane.
In fact, many of the ads are shown 4 or 5 times in a row. In the case of final fantasy... I just saw EIGHT ads in a row. This not only resulted in an unusually long (and boring!) delay for me, but actually a false charge to the folks who paid for the ad. They may believe the ad is being played to 8 different people when... instead I saw the SAME ad eight times!
The ads only serve one purpose here: to get you to think that if you don't pay for the premium service (that they bait you into accepting even during their registration process!), or suffer the ad bombardment.
I actually almost completed the paid for service once I started going through the crunchyroll.com site because it came up so fast and covered so much of the registration page that_I thought it was the registration for the crunchyroll site_.
I tried coming in through the web site instead of the App and I found even more problems.
The show I had been watching was not listed
There was no obvious search bar although I found it eventually. This lets them easily force you to watch what they are supposed to promote.
And finally once I searched for and found the show I wanted to watch... They showed a bunch of episodes that happen later without even showing the earlier episodes first even though I hadn't watched them yet. Almost hidden to the right side of the screen in a lightly colored background: "resume watching".
Wow, this is seriously a bad site. I am not at all surprised with the 1 star average although I bet my review will make it even more clear to you WHY everyone gives this one star.
Infinite loops of adds prevents you from watching at times. Guess ill find some other sites to stream animes.
Been trying to log in for over a hour. Very frustrating, They need beter servers or something because this is not working.
I've been a member of Crunchroll for a couple of years, and the site has mostly worked. There have been some off and on issues with the streaming, but these have worked out.
I recently set up for the VRV Combo-pack which includes access to Crunchyroll plus other sites like Funimation. The beauty of this is that Funimation has the dubbed anime many are looking for. Sadly, this service is horrible, perhaps worse.
The video keeps stopping and starting and this is maddening. I have the problem across multiple computers, multiple browsers and at two locations which have fast Internet.
I sent an E-mail to support and they returned with a cryptic message about going into my computer and changing the DNS (Domain Name Server) settings. I shouldn't have to change my site setup to make this work. Clearly, their servers or routing cannot keep up with the streaming content. I then inquired about how to drop the resolution down, so that the content streams clean. No can do. I just keep getting the same "change the DNS" answer, which I'm not even sure will do anything.
I tried calling Crunchroll (aka their corporate name Ellation) at their West Coast office at *******560. There are a number of different options when the call picks up, but I have never reached a live person - just a message to send an E-mail (which I tried and didn't get satisfaction).
A company which has product delivery issues, useless E-mail support and ZERO phone support is questionable at best. The company seems to be able to be a major presence at Conventions, but they should worry first about their paid service in that is should work - all the time.
I don't normally leave reviews, but I just feel so frustrated. I've had issues with them from the time I created my account.
First of all, my account was charged when I tried to sign up for the free trial. However, I got an error message saying that my card did not go through. If it didn't go through, then how were you guys able to take the money from my account? I reached out to them via chat asking why I was charged even though I signed up for the 14-day free trial. They said that my card wasn't charged - even though I provided proof that the money was taken out of my account. They then said that they would escalate it. Fine.
I get an email from them the following day and they again reiterated that my card was not charged. But, they also added the 14-day free trial. I tried to get the Megafan trial, but they gave me a free trial for the Fan subscription. I reached out to them again asking them if they could change the free trial to the Megafan trial, and I attached my statement as proof to show that that was the trial I wanted. They then replied to my email saying that my card was not charged and that they already put the free trial DESPITE me already explaining to them that they put the wrong free trial! So again, I replied asking them to change the plan to the Megafan from the Fan.
This is utterly ridiculous. I shouldn't have to speak to multiple agents to resolve an issue (and as of right now, the issue STILL hasn't been resolved). As someone who has worked in a customer service call center for years, I know how important it is to have a resolution on the first interaction. So the fact that they failed to do this is very sad and frustrating.
Get your act together, Crunchyroll. Customers should not have to speak to multiple agents to resolve their issues, let alone a simple issue like mine. If it wasn't for my brother liking anime, I wouldn't even be dealing with you guys.
Can't say I like the business practice. The ONLY reasons I haven't gotten a full membership from them are
1. The buffer rate: I'm a free member, but when I go to the forums to speak with their (often quickly responding) staff, I see that Premium members have the same problem. So the commercials aren't such a big deal to me.
2. Hidden fees. I'm not sure if this is still going on, but I once purchased something from them and found myself automatically enrolled on their 2-week free trial. That free trial doesn't cancel itself -- Crunchyroll began to deduct the monthly viewership fee from my account. It wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't just changed jobs and therefore my direct deposit bank; I could have been sunk with some serious fees if they'd drawn my account down to zero. Thankfully, I've got a Mum I don't mind opening my mail (we're cool like that) and she spotted the account activity. I had to tell my bank that I was receiving an unwanted service, and had them contact the company to let them know they would no longer be paid from my account. I keep a MUCH closer eye on my finances now.
I only watch anime once a month, in order to pace myself. Crunchyroll would be a fantastic service if only the technical issues were fixed -- I'd definitely buy, even if that meant I have to eventually fight to get my account shut down. Oh, and that brings me to
3. Account Shutdown Refusal: This was not my experience. However, I would never want it to be. I usually take reviews with a grain of salt, so to speak, but Crunchyroll seems to have a slight problem with letting go of other people's money. As in, on their forum, there are entire threads dedicated to the sole purpose of getting accounts canceled. Directions like that should be easy to find, but I've seen "How do I shut down my account?" and "How do I cancel my membership?" and "I've canceled my membership, but I'm still being charged!" just enough to keep me uncomfortable.
A TON of potential is there, though. I definitely won't say they're through.
Answer: Crunchyroll engineered a scam. If you payed using paypal, you have to cancel through paypal. It's ridiculous.
Crunchyroll has a rating of 1.5 stars from 150 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Crunchyroll most frequently mention customer service, free trial and credit card. Crunchyroll ranks 154th among Anime sites.
