Dell has a rating of 1.6 stars from 533 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers complaining about Dell most frequently mention customer service, tech support, and hard drive problems. Dell ranks 213th among Computer sites.
I am in love with Dell, and everything that Big Mike touches. It would be very hard for me to say anything negative about their website. The only thing I can advice is that they give it a more store-like format, and less of a PR medium. Other than that, it's all good.
I called to get information on where to access an invitation for friends/family which was super confusing, to begin with. The Dell employees are terrible at their job and do their best to try to confuse and obfuscate the correct answer. They were quick to point out that my computer was purchased two years ago. Don't they realize we have other options? Very poor management team who allows this bad service to go on. Just look at all the one star reviews.
I purchsed an Inspiron July 2016. It died in Feb 2017. After a few weeks of remote service they told me it oulw need a new motherboard and to send it back. I sent it back in March. Over the next few weeks I got updates, repairs were backed up, then parts weren't avaiable. More waiting. No parts, anywhere! I was told they would replace the computer. More waiting as an exact match (gold) was not available. Finally in early July I received a new Inspiron. The new one started shutting down repeated. Called tech support. "Sorry, your warranty has expired" The brand new Inspiron arrived with the old warranty! Not a mistake. Dell's policy to to add the old service tag to the new computer, hence old warranty! Dell policy I was told. Dell
Laptop dead after 7 months. Replacement now dead after 7 months. Of course I was offered to buy a new warranty. Unbelievably bad, how much money is Dell willing to gouge out of me? And yes telephone help are super polite, they read their scripts, and are outsourced in Philippines or India.
I LOVE Dell... Dell is like to laptops as Honda's are to cars! Long lasting, dependable, and hold their resell value extremely good!
Someone ordered products from Dell using my name, address and credit card. They then tried to change the delivery address, as is often the case with fraudulent orders. The only problem (for them) is that I had already received the merchandise. The order was charged to my credit card account, for which I am not responsible, but, none the less, I am trying to straighten this mess out by returning the merchandise to Dell so they can credit my card. Seems easy enough. Not quite. My first call to Dell was 5 days ago. I have called every day, for 5 days, waiting for at least 20 minutes to get through and then taking at least half an hour to explain what happened. The original person who helped me, and who seemed intelligent enough, is always busy. Leaving messages to call me , have been ignored and every time I start over with a new person, he (always a he) doesn't bother to read the case notes and I keep getting passed from one department to another. I lost my cool today and called their customer service department a bunch of "f_____g" idiots. I was finally promised a return label (for the third time) via email. Today, I thought I might be lucky, but it has been 5 hours and no label via email. I have asked to talk to supervisors but they are always too busy. After reading the comments on Dell, I will try asking for a "resolution specialist" as someone suggested. If I can't get the help I want tomorrow, I will give up and let the credit card company deal with it.
A friend recently asked my advice on buying a new computer, but customer service ratings are so bad for Dell, I suggested that she steer well clear of Dell. Now, I am thankful I did. Not good PR for Dell. I am a Mac person, myself. Apple products might be expensive, but the customer service department is first rate.
I've been a Dell guy since the *******, but sadly can no longer recommend them. Worldwide Tech Services, Dell's on-site service in this area, is also horrible.
The first XPS L702X made a horrible sound. Two days later on-site service came to repair. The repair guy didn't fix the problem and did not hook up the keyboard, so I was left with a product that worked less than before the repair. (I had to use a USB keyboard to use my laptop!)
The second one I received the monitor flickered. A different repair guy came and replaced the motherboard and the LCD. After which I got errors when using files (which is important when using a computer).
The next repair guy stood me up after I rearranged my day.
On the final repair, the tech put in a pre-scratch screen and my keyboard was no longer back lighted. So, in all the repairs, I never had one that fixed the problem or didn't cause a new problem. Buyer Beware!
The third computer has worked but I have spent tens of hours (probably about 40-50 hours all told) on tech support with India because Dell uses really bad hardware these days. There are many other manufacturers that are using quality parts. I would highly recommend never buying a Dell and going with a competitor.
Don't get me wrong, I do like the computer now they sent me a working one. But it has only one working USB port (google USB 3 L702X issues!) and no bluetooth (both of which were ordered and should work). But I am NOT letting these monkeys in my computer again.
I am however, not very impressed with the quality of Dell's service, support, or product. This ordeal started in August and is just wrapping up (I hope) in December with a mostly working computer.
Absolutely the worst experience EVER! The basic warranty customer service to laughable. I have spent over 30 hours trying to get technical support for my Latitude 5510. The agents appear to be poorly trained. Many times children/TVs are very audible in the background, the calls are either dropped or have poor connection, calls are not transferred to the correct department after extensive explanation of my laptop issues. The laptop came out of the box not functioning properly. Hardware support(after troubleshooting 3 different times) is saying it is a software issue and software support is saying it is a hardware issue. I paid $99 to have software support(after 3 hours of troubleshooting) tell me it is a hardware issue. Both hardware and software agree that the laptop is not functioning properly. Every time I call we go back and forth and in the end the laptop is still taking 30 minutes to boot up, browsing slowly, the microphone is not working, third party apps are not working properly, and the list goes on and on. It is obvious that Dell does not want to offer support to its basic warranty customers. It is my understanding that a PRO warranty is $200-$300 to purchase. This is of course on top of its already hefty price tag. STAY FAR AWAY FROM DELL IF YOU WANT A QUALITY PRODUCT WITH QUALITY CUSTOMER SUPPORT. It looks like my only option is to trash this piece of junk and call this an unfortunate learning experience. I purchased an MAC over the weekend and it is working perfectly.
Dell provided the quality products like, Mouse CPU, and more instruments related to the computer. Awesome
MY LAPTOP IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, SO CALLED DELL BECASE MY WI-FI WAS DISCONNECTING AND THE SOUND WAS GETTING BAD.SO I WAS ASKED TO SEND IN FOR REPAIR. THEN I GET AN EMAIL THAT THEY WANT 120 TO REPAIR THE LAPTOP WHICH IS STILL ANDER WARRANTY.SO I CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE TO SEE WHAY SHOILD I HAVE TO PAY AND WAS CONNECTED TO RAPAIR DEPARTMENT SOME WHERE IN INDIA WHO SAID TO ME PAY OR WE SENT THE LAPTOP BACK BECAUSE THE PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.IN A VERY RUDE WAY WHICH MADE ME VERY MAD. IN SHORT VERY VERY VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND BY FAR THE WORST COMPANY.
Appalling, and there was me thinking I was the only one experiencing poor Customer Service. My son worked part time whilst at College to buy a Dell 13/5000 2 in 1 laptop. It was hyped by PC World as fast and great storage. Well by the time we brought it home it would seem that Dell have upgraded the processor from the Pentium Gold to an I3 or I5 processor. Clearly they realised that it was useless. Dell Customer Service have been so rude and unhelpful (deepak) I was then asked to contact PC World which I did and they palmed me off to Dell and I have been boomeranged between the two. I went to CashConverters and they would not buy it and its brand new and Cex just laughed at the processor and say its worth 99 pounds. Honestly give Dell a wide berth, they don't care about customers, my son is 17 and it is all his hard earned money down the drain. All I get from Deepak is I understand the inconvenience, but clearly they dont. If BMW made a shoddy car, they would have to have it returned but Computer companies seem able and willing to rip you off. Stick to Apple even they are expensive, at least they work.
Ever since I bought my first laptop I bought Dell, and there is not better product, they have extended warrenty, great price, and there is Dell for everyone from cheaper level to the expensive one.
Here is my honest opinion about dell.
If you are one of the few who receive a perfectly good dell computer and you have no issues, great.
For the rest of you, be warned, Dell computers have a multitude of issues some repairable, some not.
I ordered a dell xps 13 top with all of the bells and whistles. This laptop is rated the best for your money. It wasn't cheap, about $1600, but i thought it was worth it. Two days after receiving the laptop everything started to fail. The fan is incredibly loud and sounds like I'm standing next to a river and the computer actually doesnt work. It can not locate the internet. Here is the major issue. I called dell, was put on hold for over an hour. Technical support walked me through everything to find the solution. We even did a factory reset. The result, no fix, a waste of 2.5 hours and waiting for a new motherboard. I called back the next day to discuss getting my money back and I was placed on hold for over an hour. The end result of the conversation was to wait for the parts and see if that solves the issue. A week passed and the tech installed the new motherboard, still did not solve the issue, he reset the computer again, again, that did not work. I immediately called customer service. I was placed on hold for over an hour. The operator put me in touch with tech support where I was speaking to him and after 10 minutes the line went dead and when I called back I was told they have left for the evening. The representative hung up on me to go home. If you dont mind wasting precious time on hold and fixing your computer. Go ahead and spend the $1600 on a beautiful sleek brick. I would be incredibly happy if someone from dell would fix this issue. I'm sure dell has enough money to hire some more people in customer service. Especially if they are selling $1600 bricks to their customers.
I've been buying personal and work computer equipment from Dell since the 1990s and, literally, cannot believe my recent experience. In short I bought a $4,000 (!) XPS laptop, dock station and second monitor for remote work during the pandemic. It looks like it was put together in some 3rd world back room sweat shop. I've had to tape ALL of the plug-in connections, because they keep falling out! In the Sumer of 2022, I bought an "OS-Service Warranty Extension, dated to last through December 2023 (Receipt attached). Last fall, Nov 2022, my laptop would not boot up past the Dell logo (Google that; it IS a thing). Even with that extended warranty, I was told that it covered hardware only and not for Dell to reinstall the OS. I was told that I needed back pay another $386 for that to be covered (receipt attached). And, even though I bought Windows 10 with the laptop, I had never received a disk or download link, so I couldn't even try a re-install myself., so I had the XPS shipped to Dell where they re-installed Windows (which caused me to lose ALL of my data, because Dell no longer supported the 6 Terabyte external hard drive that I bought from them with my last laptop!). I am JUST NOW finally finishing the recover-rebuilding-replacement of all that data. And, once again my X Dell laptop won't boot up past the Dell Logo. I contacted Dell and once again, they won't provide any Tech Support help, unless I buy another warranty extension! And that says all that needs to be said - I am taking this $4,000 laptop, throwing it in the trash and buying an HP laptop!
Sign me "Outraged and Fed Up"
Overall, not bad, satisfactory. Of course, there is no limit to perfection and in this case it is worth trying, but this result is already quite good

Definitely the best of the best. You can't ask for more, My brand new laptop is working as a charm. Highly recommend
When considering a computer/laptop purchase, look at the many review sites, BBB, Google Reviews, Trust Pilot and consider what the previous customers of Dell have written. Dell has incredible awful reviews with specific warnings and there is a definite reason why. Dell is currently selling computers that are so overloaded with background processes, that before any programs are opened, the computers are already consuming 35% of the available memory. Simple Excel files overload the computers to the point of 100% capacity.
The fact that the products Dell are selling flat out do not work is just the tip of the ice burg. Prior to realizing the inadequacies of their products, I placed a $1,900 order on Sep 8 and I come from a 38 year background of using computers and technology. The ordering process, the setup process, the failed struggle to make the computer work process, the return process and the refund process, involving +25 customer service reps that not only did not speak enough English to be understood, was drowned in misinformation, inaccuracies, false information and downright lies.
My entire purchase was properly packaged and returned within the allowable return timeline, 3 weeks ago and Dell has to this day not refunded me the money. I have been promised a refund in writing, (please see attachment 1, received (4) days ago) I have been assured of a refund verbally. I have contacted Executive Management of Dell, I have begged, pleaded, and cried. Nothing. I have even reached out to the owner of Dell. No response.
Per Dell's escalation department, and after customer service reps have confirmed in writing that my returned purchase was received, (See attachment #2, received after the first promise of a refund within 2 business days) Dell needs more time to ensure my returned package was received. Attachment #3, yet more excuses as to why I have not received my refund. More than 3 full days have no passed since that communication. More than 16 days after I returned the dysfunctional computer, Dell has still not refunded me my money.
I will never in my life purchase another Dell product. Never!
Tip for consumers:
Dell has a full refund policy but to date I have not received my refund at all. I feel there should be an investigation into Dell and how they are treating customers.

I bought Alienware Aurora R-11... Have had nothing but problems with the Video Card RTX NVIDIA 2080 Ti. It has gone bad 5 times before. The sixth time, I shipped the entire system back to them for repairs. I have even written MICHAEL DELL, ( CEO), of the company and all they claim is that they can't recreate the same issues that I have described to them... calling me liar and will be shipping my PC back to me with NO REPAIRS / OR FIXING THE PROBLEMS! This Company does not stand by their Warranties or There Products. I am extremely Disappointed and Frustrated with this so called company and it Products.Clearly this is a Lemon computer and they will not take responsibility for their Products. I recommend that you DO NOT PURCHASE there products because they won't stand by them when something goes wrong.Buyer be Ware! This has been forwarded to there Escalation Team where Ms. April Farren is in charge of. She is not concerned about hearing a customers complaints or doing anything for the customer. If I could this Company would get a Minus Score but, that wasn't Available!.
They don't take their own products back. The don't take their own products back. The don't take their own product back.

I got my Dell XPS MI 330 since seven or so years. Twice I changed the battery. It works fine so far with me. Fine product
I should have listen to my family members when they said Dell is horrible. I bought a pc mid Nov. 2021. They sent me the shipping email but UPS said they never got the package. I waited for days and nothing. I contacted them, they had a special contacted me. The specialist could not figure out where it was and move my case to the logistic team. Then days later, he called me at 6:30 am woke me up to tell me they found the pc and will ship it out now. 6 days later! I told them while waiting I had to go out and bought a new pc. He went on how a great deal I got and I agreed but it was "lost" for days and not shipped like they claimed.
I asked if they have not shipped out, please cancel as I cannot afford two pc. He said ok and it will not be delivered to me and my refund will be process.
Wrong, they lied and shipped to me. After I called him out he said he will have it picked, gave me a date but scheduled a different date. Lied again, no one ever came. I had to filed with the BBB and my cc and they still lied and won't pick up the package.
After both cc dispute closed and BBB closed, they had their financial institution sent me a overdue balance and threaten to send me to collection.
I called them and got transferred to 3 people in India. The last lady said she will send UPS to pick it up and clear the balance for me. So far, nothing, just more lies.
Thankful my pc was on sale and not much but I do fee for so many others who are in worse situation.
I should have listen to family and other reviewers online.
I am thinking just pay for the trash pc, learn my lesson and cursed them a thousand folds.
So save yourself all the pain and suffering of losing money and not getting anything that actually work them DELL!
Tip for consumers:
Do your research, never buy anything from Dell directly!

got a PC
I once bought a laptop, it was quite good, but heated and heated quickly. But still it depends on the model, so maybe someone is okay.
One of the best no matter the pricing - their screen and pre-built pc have been serving me for years and now I`m into getting another one.
Bought an Dell Insperon 2 in 1 and I really wish I didn't. Slowwwwwwww! Sometimes it is like watching paint dry. Dell still use rubber covered keys that delaminate. My old Latitude had the same problem where the rubber keys would wear away and leave large depressions in the surface. Don't know why simple hard plastic keys seem so hard for Dell to contemplate. Hard square corners that make using the keyboard very uncomfortable if you have larger hands. The touchpad often refuses to operate and one has to just stop what you are doing and try it again. This sometimes takes a couple of goes.
Had a key delaminate under warranty. Told by service department that defective keys were specifically not covered by warranty which was a lie. They then changed the scenario to "wear and tear". The key involved is a CTRL key which is hardly used. Surface bubbled and then delaminated. Finally after threats to go to regulators and the media, it was referred to higher beings up the food chain who determined that a 20c key wasn't worth the hassle. They confirmed a day for visiting and repairing and guess what...got an email mid morning on the day, saying they had cancelled because they were too busy. This was after I had taken the day off work to cover their "all day" window in which the technician would call. I suppose that this was their way of getting revenge.
Computer 0/10 Service 0/10 Lies 10/10
The time I would spend buying Dell again 0 seconds and wouldn't recommend them to anybody, would even try to actively discourage them from buying one..
After one year my Dell laptop broke, the company refuses to repair. They talk to me like I am garbage.
Yoel Shimonovitz
This is one of the best companies when it comes to computer. I have been using this brand from the past 5 years now and no compleints till now.
I have had an ongoing issue with my computers. I paid 3700 originally in Nov 2021 for an Alienware laptop.
Since then, I have had:
4 technicians within the first 10-11 months for that laptop.
They replaced the Motherboard, fans, speakers, everything within it.
It ended up dying again and needing to be swapped anyway.
With the replacement "brand new computer" they sent me:
I had to fight to get ANY kind of warranty on it even though they used a month or two of my warranty building this computer.
Within the first 6 month warranty they gave me, I have had 1 tech out and many other calls in about issues that are not resolved but are not computer breaking so i have just been dealing with them.
The second tech was scheduled for 6/21 after being pushed back a week. He changed out the motherboard and the computer has not been overheating since. Today 6/27, the computer power button started to blink red and blue which is exactly what it did the last time right before it stopped working all together. Someone from dell called me and "all they could offer" was to mail in the computer to have it tested in a "controlled environment" and then ship it back to me in perfect working order. The agent told me they could not even think about offering a refund to me because it is over 30 days in. This does not make sense because one of the other agents put in a request for a refund -so what were we applying for? The agent just kept repeating himself so although i did not accept his response i told him i understood and would think about it.
At this point i am convinced that the computer will again die unexpectedly like all the times before and that i will not be able to do the things I need to do on it on a daily basis. So i am asking for a refund so that Dell and I can part ways and I can get something more reliable. I thought the spending the extra money would make it more reliable and mean I would have a good experience but I have had anything but.
