“Banned for no reason, no customer service”

I'm a new user. Never sold clothes online before. I posted some shoes. And then get banned with no reason and no notice. Customer service won't tell you anything or help you. They just say "final correspondence".

I was/am a seller on depop. The app is terrible. It logged me out of the app after a few months, which is fine. However, after several attempts it locked my account for getting the password wrong too many times, again thats fine. Where i have an issue is the recovery and support from the app. I have tried multiple times to get them to send me an email to multiple email accounts and never received one. The q&a responses are no help and I was unable to find a way to contact them directly. I received an email telling me I have a sale and now have no way to get into my account to do anything about the sale.

I have also had issues in the past with trying to cancel orders. I had an item sell that had previously sold on another platform that i forgot to remove from depop. That is my mistake. However, I could not find a way to cancel the order or request the buyer to cancel the order. The only thing I could figure out to do was to message the buyer and inform them of the issue. The item is still not canceled months later and is sitting there telling me its time to ship it. The lack of features and options for help/support as well as just ease of use once you get into the app, at least for sellers, makes it feel like it is incomplete. I am for sure done using this app, at least for now, until improvements are made.

I have NEVER in my life experienced such horrendous customer service in my entire life. They have no live chat, no phone line, you can only contact them through email with which they take around 4-5 days to reply.

I sold 3 items on Depop and one of which was a £100 Louis Vuitton tie (Take in mind they send the payment out 3-4 days after a buyer has purchased your item). I woke up the following morning to my account being banned with no email or reasoning as to why. I spoke to around 10 different employees all telling me completely different things. For example, one of them said 'unfortunately we cannot re-activate banned accounts' and then another employee asked for 'proof of postage and receipts that I had in fact sent out the items'. So literally all employees contradict each other.

Anyway, after sending all relevent info (proof of postage, receipts, proof of authenticity), it has been a month and they still have not got back to me regarding my payout. I emailed them again this week asking them what the hell is going on, their response was 'We have reached out to the buyer to clarify a few things then we will get back to you'.

THEY ARE HOLDING MY MONEY FOR NO REASON. I AM 99% sure the way they are going about this is illegal, Please please please for the life of me, stay far away from this company and just use ebay for selling your stuff. They have amazing customer service, live chat, and you can request a phonecall in 2 minutes. I will never over my dead body use Depop again. A profile with over 50 5* Star reviews to be treated like this! Unreal!

Tip for consumers:
STAY AWAY use Ebay

Stay Away From This app. The app is a big scam, I am positive they collect they money to themselves. You will never receive your money if you are a a real seller such as myself, the app will ask you to ship and update shipping details then you will recommend your money, BUT YOU WILL NEVER DO.
As for the "sellers" on the app most of them are SCAMMERS, you will never receive the item you purchased and if you reach to depop team, they will not do anything. IAM PRETTY SURE THAT THOSE SCAMMERS ARE PART OF DEPOP TEAM.

SO JUST STAY AWAY FROM THAT APP

Zero stars should be an option. I have obvious proof that package was delivered somewhere other than my own home, and they won't accept it. They only accept specific evidence- which you have to do all the work to get. You have to contact UPS and get them to do a investigation, then get them to provide you with a letter admitting that they didn't deliver to your address, on official UPS letterhead, and they keep going on and on. Seller is only required to provide a tracking number that doesn't even have to show your address - as long as the city and state match - it's 100% that you received the package - UNLESS you jump through those hoops and get that UPS admission on UPS letterhead. Anyway - attaching photos to show how obvious it is that the package wasn't delivered to my home. Risky, risky, risky on Depop. They won't get any more of my money. 6 transactions (only 4 actually went fine) and that was it for me. Too many problems and favors the seller in ways that are too uncomfortable for me. I just basically was robbed through depop and the seller using a subpar shipping service (UPS SurePost)

Tip for consumers:
Would have been helpful to know Depop favors the seller. In my case the seller chose a subpar shipping option to save himself a few dollars and the package was delivered to the wrong address and lost / stolen. Had the seller just shipped normal UPS, I’d have my package. He chose UPS SurePost which hands off to post office USPS for last bit of delivery. No one wants to claim responsibility for the missing package as USPS tracking shows not yet obtained from
UPS, and UPS tracking shows delivered.

Products used:
None, never received anything and was denied on claim to be compensated.

I asked why the Purchases link is not available both on my lap top or on my Samsung Galaxy to which you asked me to trouble shoot? I told you that I just downloaded the latest version to my phone. Why is my laptop having the same problem as my Samsung Galaxy? Why does this simple function found on EVERY OTHER MARKETPLACE not found on yours?

Why are there multiple complaint links on google going back 6 - 12 months asking if any one else has experienced not being able to find the purchase button?

Why is it that your sellers feel free to cancel sales and buyers can't leave a negative review for that sort of unprofessional behavior? No courtesy message from the seller of any kind. No repercussions of any kind. So in a sense, your company enables bad business practices which will also be on my review of your company as a whole.

You know... when you do right by someone, chances are that person will tell a couple of friends about their positive experience. But when you treat customers the way I've been treated by that poor excuse for a seller, and your customer service team asking me to work for Jesus and resolve issues that have nothing to do with either my laptop or cell phone, but everything to do with your website, well that person will go out of their way to tell as many people to NEVER do business with your company and if by the off chance they did, they should cross their fingers and hope all goes well. Because if it doesn't. They are on their own.

Less isn't more when it comes to customer service. That's why you lost a customer today and why I will visit 10 sites including several links on youtube to let them know that help means nothing to your company. It means receiving a generic cut and paste email with instructions on how you can fix your own problem or how you can go F$#& yourself if you decide not to follow your time wasting steps.
Closing my account!

Depop customer service team really needs some training in customer service and logical thinking bc none of their policy makes sense. I emailed them to get help when the buyer didn't contact me for more than 2 weeks to notify me that the person has moved to a new address after ordering an item from me and asking for a refund for the item she didn't pick it up from the post office even with the full tracking information saying that it's sitting in PO, just bc her lazy $#*! didn't want to go pick it up! It's too obvious to me that the buyer trying to scam me bc even tho she knew she was moving, she didn't give me the new address for the last 2 WEEKS. And now, depop tried to give me some moral lessons saying that not returning the item to the buyer is not nice. And when I told them I changed my location, I don't have the item, now they are saying 'After a closer look at this, as a one-time goodwill gesture, we will reimburse you if you refund the buyer in full.' ONE-TIME GOODWILL GESTURE? You reimburse that money to the buyer not me what the heck? The transaction closed when I sent the package to the buyer's address that she provided on PayPal and reached the destination. It's none of my business if the buyer didn't want to pick it up from the PO and sent it back to me again. I got my own life to sort out not like the buyer, I cannot be responsible for the buyer's nonsense. Have some logic depop. Not trading on this dumbass app anymore lol

UPDATE: This user changed their name *******@vhsbabydoll on Depop to avoid the bad reviews. Their reddit user is u/ultraviolxnce. DO NOT buy from them, they are a scammer that sells counterfeit items and will not refund the total amount of your order.

I bought an item *******@1990sDoll. I noticed that the item was counterfeit and quickly asked for a refund before she shipped it because I did not want junk. She had no idea what she was doing. She did not refund the total amount and when I pointed this out, she whined "I'm so broke at the moment I have around $15 to my name and I literally can't send anymore". Complete bs, I sent this scammer the money for the item so they should be able to refund the whole amount. I later found out this was a kid that was selling, who also whines on reddit. The partial refund she did send has still been pending for days. Depop has not been helpful about this situation either, and while they claimed to have messaged the seller, they refuse to issue me the total refund. Depop also needs to have an age limit on who sells. DO NOT BUY *******@1990SDOLL!

Tip for consumers:
Avoid buying from Depop, they do not protect buyers or punish scammers. Don't buy from @vhsbabydoll.

The site is full of scammers and petty people. I ordered a pair of earrings from akstylez and when it arrived the package was empty and ripped. Opened a dispute with paypal, and in response they blocked me and left a nasty review on my store, telling people not to do business with me and a bunch of lies. All over 7 freaking bucks. Now that's a horrible thing to do to someone with a little store when yours is huge. They did it because they knew that even if I left a bad review it wouldn't matter because they are a "depop top seller" and top sellers easily get bad reviews removed. Where it is harder for someone like me with only 6 sales. I believe the seller is responsible for the package until I receive it. Even though the post office confirmed the envelope was empty when they received it at their facility they still felt the need to be spiteful. I had not even planned to leave a review on their store. I just wanted a refund or replacement, but their behavior was not acceptable. Depop will not reprimand top sellers, so if you get scammed by a top seller goodluck. You're negative review will be gone in days.
They will make it seem like I was in the wrong, for asking for a refund on an item I never received and they will get away with it. Because nobody cares about the fate of little shops on depop.

Wow, if y'all thought Depop was only a source for clothes and other miscellaneous objects, think again. The amount of porn books that pop up for sale on here is insane. Which is interesting, because their "Prohibited Items" list (which in itself is a bald-faced lie, as Depop doesn't actually stop people from selling USED MAKE UP, PHYSICAL PORN, and when they do enforce the rules, they don't apply to big sellers who bring in the $$$ for them) lists porn as a no-no. And it's the good, old fashioned, exploitative-to-women porn you see on there the most. Seriously, just search for it. Gross, corrupt company that exploits the idea of "recycled fashion" and "inclusiveness" while allowing people to sell items that are unsanitary and inappropriate for a clothing/goods based app. Oh, and try reporting stuff, you'll be ignored.
Oh, and they WILL NOT FEATURE ANYONE WHO USES A MANNEQUIN TO DISPLAY CLOTHING BECAUSE IT DOESN'T FIT THEIR "IMAGE". Inclusive, right? I think the most hilarious part is that they won't state it outright anywhere, no, they just won't feature you. Some of us are physically challenged or do not have the resources to model / use a live model. But I guess we don't deserve to be featured on the Explore Page, right? Maybe I should try getting some more photos of myself trying to model with my bum leg so that Depop will finally feature me and exploit me for marketing as proof of just how "inclusive" they are.

I'm a seller on Depop and I haven't had any issues. Potential buyers read descriptions and ask questions. We respond to each other in a timely matter. Everything is very easy to use! If you sell just regular goods like decor, low end fashion and accessories, you'll run into no problems. I don't trust any platforms selling high priced items or buying high end goods. The fee is only 10% compared to Poshmark which makes this more desirable to sell on. The platform is overall good but a little lacking:

1. There's no way to see my own shipping costs as a seller. I would have to edit the listing and its shipping info to see what option I've selected. Not very convenient as I can't remember every setting I put for shipping. Sometimes I offer free shipping to buyers but I can't tell unless I dig deeper.

2. Messaging platform should allow images. I send potential buyers images they request but it's in a Google drive link or something else. As a person myself, I feel safer if I know images are sent through the platform. If they're inappropriate, allow them to be reported. Sometimes, items get damaged and images for proof helps the case more. It also helps the buyer/seller communicate better.

3. Flat shipping rates are a little high but that's to be expected for Priority Mail and insurance up to $100.

4. Customer service is a bit lacking. Sometimes you have a seller or buyer emergency and they would take 2+ days to reply. When they do reply, it really stretches too much time and sometimes buyers can be impatient or mistrust you.

5. Depop referred me to file an insurance claim with USPS even though the label is provided by Depop. To me, that makes no sense. USPS has less incentive to help a regular customer as opposed to a partner company.

It's overall a good platform to sell on. I personally haven't ran into any issues with any buyers. The demographic is perfect for the clothes and accessories I sell. The platform is also much easier to list on, compared to eBay. I highly recommend it if you want to get rid of some stuff you have.

I started my little bag and accessory business in Depop. I always wanted my own little online store and at first I saw Depop as the perfect start to doing that. After continuous harassment from them about my products apparently being counterfeit (I CAN ASSURE YOU THEY ARE ABSOLUTLEY NOT) they deleted my account.

I was so angry I had a 1000 followers just about and was just last 900 sale and every single review was 5 stars! Anyway I decided that the way the dealt with it was disgusting. They told me the decision was final even after all the proof I sent them of my vendors and manufacturers. And they told me I'm banned from ever using Depop again.

I decided to build my own website and market my online business on instagram and have turned over £1000 + this month alone! Honestly guys don't use this platform, they take too much percentage and they have no respect for their users. I'm much happier now that they don't get a cut out of my little business. I would always UNrecommend them to everyone I know!

Be careful and if you're a business owner using Depop to start up just be weary!

Depop is full of scammers, every other designer item listed is a replica. I have attached a photo of my PayPal dispute resolution page (I have been scammed 5 times by Depop sellers this year alone!) - all items were purchased in Depop and were either never shipped or counterfeit. Thank god for PayPal's outstanding customer service all were refunded. My favorite one was a pair of Valentino trainers for £300 that were as fake as the light of day and the seller was refusing to own up, had to compile a case comparing them to my genuine pair just to get my money back.

Then Depop closed my successful selling account of 4+ years with a total of all 5 star reviews for apparently trading "outside Depop" - in reality all my items are listed on both Depop and eBay and by default eBay listings get way more traffic and 9/10 times sell there first. Meaning I would have to mark Depop listings as sold.

DEPOP WAS SILENT WHEN I WAS BEING SCAMMED all those times but the minute they falsely assumed I was saving on fees they suspended my account.

I am absolutely furious. I have used depop for over a year now. At the start It was going ok. Now in the last 6 months they keep removing my items.
Just last week I had a buyer who kept messaging me to know where I lived so they can come and collect a brand new eyeshadow palette off me, but I kept replying to the buyer saying I only sell in the app I am not going to say where I live but they kept messaging me so I informed depop. Instead depop did not do anything to the buyer and instead they removed my item and sent me a warning about asking buyers to purchase outside the app even though I provided them proof of the message. When I contacted depop about this they said it was an error on the system & restored my item. Bare in mind over the last few months they removed more of my items that they did no restore in the months before even though I contacted them providing proof and saying none of my items went against their prohibited items but they do not respond. Now today I wake up and see my heels for no reason have been removed apparently cause they have been worn, since when has shoes being worn once been an issue? I've sold before shoes on there but for some reason this time its a hygiene problem?. These heels have been listed for ages as well as my other items that they removed over the last few months.None of my items went against their policies. And now today they sent me "final reminder before they suspend my account " because apparently I am selling outside the app. I've made no sales within the last couple of month so I am fuming why they randomly decide to say this.
Absolutely unacceptable they don't even review reports properly. They don't even check the items properly or why would they just slap you with random reports nearly every other month. 1 day with a so called prohibited item report, another day with an out of app payment for a buyer report, another day with a used item report. Ridiculous To the point now they are saying to me this is my final chance. Well I give up and deleting my account before they decide to suspend for removing another item for absolutely no reason. Also the fees are so bloody high, they say 10% but it's absolute bull how they charge. Awful experience.!
