Whenever I'm reading a book, magazine, or newspaper in hard copy, or an online newsletter, I can jump over to this website to look up definitions of unfamiliar words. Quick access to this online dictionary often prevents a reader from skipping over a strange word without trying to understand its use in whatever you're reading. I'm a Substitute Teacher, and I have recommended this website to students so they can quickly check word meanings. Usually, this website offers several explanations for each word defined, and Explains the etymology, or origin/development, of the term. (Oops, I just linked over to this website to make sure I spelled 'etymology' correctly. See how useful this website can be to a writer!) --JOE Duffy Beverly Hills/Los Angeles, California
Unbelievably inundated with advertising and blinking ads coming in from all directions; ads within a hairline of where you need to be keeping your eyes on. Everything else is not bad; it is a very good tool, however it's almost impossible to concentrate on your work with the corner of your eye catching all the crap. Overall, regrettably, a thumb's down.

A dictionary is supposed to present definitions of words and usage. The warriors at dictionary.com do the opposite. They have a clear trans activist hatred of women that is reflected in their work. They are trying to indoctrinate, not educate. Disgusting. Look at the 'women buster" image they use.
I thought the purpose of an online dictionary was to assist with productive writing, but how can I be productive if I have to wait for advertisements to load? This is the worst site I've ever seen for advertising and it is frustrating to try and work while ads keep loading. I understand this is your revenue stream, but eight ads per page is a bit much. Especially when the banner ads push the content off-screen.

Unsurprisingly, dictionary dot com decides to use another suggestive example against religion:
Iconoclastic -
"a fresh, even an iconoclastic, influence could work wonders"
I give it two stars because they do come in handy for many word lookups. Otherwise... one star would suffice.
Tip for consumers:
Merriam-Webster may be a better choice for accuracy and less bias.
Products used:
Shoes, jackets, belts, cosmetics, etc.
I completely like dictionary and thesaurus for the educational needs. Apart from searching words to understand, you learn the new ones and quizzes/slideshows can help you in understanding. Great resource!
Well, its a good dictionary... but I also like the fact that they have a blog, called "The Hot Word", which I find really really interesting. They also have a thesaurus, word of the day, flashcards and more. Great website.
Sick and tired of the obvious political hatred demonstrated in many of the examples. Loved how fast and easy the search was. I just wanted an online dictionary, not personal political agendas. I couldn't care less about those. I find them unprofessional and negative, negative, NEGATIVE! Isn't there enough of that in the world today?
Your site is ideologically motivated and publishes outright lies. The newly added definition for terf suggests that women are violent towards transpeople when it is exactly the opposite. Examples terfisaslur.com
Dictionary.com is advocating for violence against women. Their inclusion of the word ‘Terf' as a slur against women is deeply sexist and offensive to women all over the world. This is criminal behaviour from a public company, shameful and outrageous
Adding a misogynist slur to the $#*!tionary, declaring Women are a danger to Men, is ludicrous. Insulting and abusive to Women. Adds to the danger Women face from allowing Men into Women's facilities.
I'm a writer. That doesn't mean I know every word there is to know or that I am perfect at grammar. It just means I like to write enough that if ever a job were presented to me to write for a living, I might actually love my job to death.
With that said, Dictionary.com is a website I go to for words. I love it. I have the app. I read the word of the day. I have a favorites list going. I know there are other ones out there, but for me the site is easy to read. I see the word that I want defined. I see the definition. I don't have to decipher anything. It's a quick look.
I also love that I can click on words I don't know in the definition of the word I was looking up and it will bring me to the definition of that word.
The more I write (and I've written for ages) the more I love words. It's hard to get new words into conversation circulation, but with the dictionary.com app and easy read website I can quickly reference and remind myself what a word means and hopefully expand my vocabulary more.
I agree that their hot word blog is awesome.
The Thesaurus is a great source to help me not to over use terms like GREAT and AWESOME or PATHETIC and SUCK when writing reviews.
I wish Word of the Day would stop with the political agenda. Can we please simply have random, interesting words? 'Flubdub?'... desperate, boring and just one example of the daily riffraff.
Not much to say about it. It is a dictionary, has all the words and all. I have no complains so I give is four stars since it saves me the money to buy a new dictionary and time to look up a word.
Saved this one for studying. A helpful thing, also eductational, I`m a foreign student and those new words popping up are also much welcome. + for this resource!
This site is filled with ads and promotions from unsolicited vendors and services remotely related to search
This site is great for definitions and the definitions are pronounced right and it's great for a dictionary site
It was terrible so bad that i kept on yelling and getting upset about it i hate it soooo much dont recommend unless its for someone you hate
I love this site, I use the thesaurus tab just as much. This is one of my favorite sites!
